  1. Not on Carnival but on the Star Princess: In Dec 2016, my wife tripped down a couple of steps. She was in pain in her backside. An office visit to the ship's doctor, a couple of x-rays and some meds set us back just under $500. When we got to Honolulu, I took my wife to a local hospital (a member of our health plan) and we saw

a doc there who praised the level of care she had received onboard.

When we returned home to LA, I filed for reimbursement of our out of pocket expenses onboard as our health plan covers us wherever we travel around the world. We were reimbursed in full (less $45 which is what we would have paid locally for the office visit, x-rays and meds). Interesting enough, our Honolulu hospital visit and care/meds my wife received there, we were never billed for those! Go figure.

  2. not offended, i was just looking for a simple answer....

It does NOT usually work that way on CruiseCritic! lol lol lol

Take my advice, if you are pre-paying your gratuities, you do not need to put down $300 on your account.

Just put down what you think you will spend on the cruise and keep tabs on your spending. Add more as needed as you go along.

NCL are NOT known for being quick to refund you YOUR money!

    I hope that helps.

    Thanks,

    Fred

  3. Check your Carnival account see if those rate codes might already be in the section MY OFFERS.

If you have any offers in that section, once you navigate thru those offers, it will show you the rate codes

and it says something along the lines "Rate code XXX will be applied at the time of booking" If the rate

code is not shown, you may have to call Carnival to see what that rate will be for you.

    I hope this info helps.

    Thanks,

    Fred

  4. Misses,

For $59, I would not risk Carnival messing your booking up. And from personal experience, I tell you that when that happens, you will be the one having to do all the work to get Carnival to fix THEIR screw-up. If you are happy with what you have, just leave it at that.

What you MAY TRY to do is call their guest relations dept, explain to them what is going on and see if they will give you like an even $50 onboard credit without messing around with your booking. You'd be surprised what one can sometimes accomplish just by being nice and understanding of the other party on the phone. 4 out of 10 times it works for me. Good luck.

    Thanks,

    Fred

  5. OP,

Within the last month we have been on the Imagination and the Inspiration, I think they are both Fantasy class ships.

We did NOT have a fridge in either cabin. I requested one for my meds thru the Passenger Services desk and they

provided it at no additional charge on both cruises/ships.

    Thanks,

    Fred

  6. As others have said, "real deals" seem to be getting harder and harder to find.

Some of best deals we made in the past were:

28-day cruise on Princess Los Angeles to Hawaii and Tahiti/South Pacific and back to LA in Nov 2016 in an UNobstructed balcony $1998 each.

11-day Hawaii & Fanning Island cruise on NCL, that's one's been a while but it was one heck of a deal at $618 each including return airfare from LA to Honolulu

29-day San Diego-Panama Canal-Fort Lauderdale and then same itinerary back to San Diego on Holland America for $1600 each in an UNobstructed balcony cabin for $1600 each about 6 years ago

Those prices all include port charges/taxes/fees.

  7. We've sailed with John a few times on various Carnival ships.

It is truly amazing what a memory the gentleman has, between our first and second cruise with him there was a space of a few years. When we crossed paths on the second cruise, he immediately recognized us and still remembered our first names.

A very pleasant man and a wonderful human being.

So Hello John from Fred & Sonia (from Malta) if you read this thread.

  8. I got stopped by customs and honestly I payed like 25 dollars I think, my girl stood behind and I went ahead they sent me to secondary inspections because they thought I guess I was traveling alone lol. , but yes I’m sailing on the horizon hopefully they deliver to the rooms and this time I don’t have to air travel lol

Hey if you only paid $25 on approximately that many bottles of booze, you did good!

  9. I always consider tipping a personal matter and will NEVER brag about how much I tip, who I tip, when and where I tip and of all places on a public forum where talk is cheap!

Wouldn't it be interesting if the big tippers tossing wads of cash around on these forums were to actually post some kind of proof of their generosity to substantiate their claim/s?

Like I said, talk is cheap.

  10. I think you did fine. In fact more than fine. Let's face it, the tipping business is getting out of hand. I have no problems with tipping. I know this is a huge part of their income. I am not considered a cheap tipper either, but when I see some of the figures that are thrown around on these board my hair stands up on end.[/quote]

You certainly have that one right, and on both counts!
