We did this cruise in a few weeks ago, you will have a great trip if you have

never been north before,

some amazing sail ins and outs so if you are early birds great experience,

you will find Emerald has many more great viewing areas than Royal

which her a great ship for this type of cruise,

try observation deck above bridge, or skywalkers for views

Have been to Cobh a few times and watch ships via web cam never heard off

them not docking in the town before, town goes to great lengths to welcome

cruise ships, was there another ship in port that day, the fact you were not given

notice may well mean that the change was made very late,

did you every go to Adagio bar during the day, it is often very quite,

sorry things did not go well for you, did you speak to any officers on board about for concerns

Passenger mix will change depending on when you cruise,

cruise before TA crossing will have higher number of US folks on it,

holiday season more brits on board,

also depends on if your cruise sells out early,

as late deals will hook most brits

last cruise out of Southampton, never has so many Brits on a Princess cruise,

so may be a sign of things changing,

also possible that you will have groups from China, Russia as Princess markets

hard there for cruises out of UK.

We did this cruise this year, however due to Princess cut backs have a set fare

that I am willing to pay, as such no way will I pay brochure fares or even 50%

of the price, as such we waited and booked a few weeks from sailing

after final payment date, very happy with price paid

While on Emerald every night at least one table was in use at Salty Dog,

can not recall if they every made it two, so plenty of scope to take away

99.9% of the tables and put a dance floor in

Hi, we had booked a gty had no cabin number got given cruise cards at check-in and told to report to purser and get new cards when boarded

No need for concern was once up graded after ship had sailed,

so long as you and your bags are on same ship relax and look forward to your cruise

Got moved once we boarded, got to cabin and was told not to un pack,

after sailing was given another cabin, as they wanted to take a block of cabins

out of use for maintenance, got moved from inside to outside so was happy,

Had a b2b2b cruise to Aus with stop overs onway down and way back,

needed to drop on section price went up, agent said fees cancellation etc,

so I said wanted Princess to take over booking he said ok but I keep all monies

paid to date, Princess got involved and thought agent was not acting in a proper

manner,but could not stop him keeping money, so have never used them since

and told ever one I know locally never to use them,

Looks like Princess tours will have an advantage over private tours,

with the introduction of new ticket system to limit tourist numbers

to the 5 villages,

starts next year,

tickets will need to be bought on line and will

be available as a combined railway tourist ticket, there is going

to be a new app that will advise of numbers and tell you what villages

will be closed to new visitors with out a ticket,

appears the issue has been very high numbers of cruise ship passengers

dropping in for a few hours then going away, the local council want to attract

longer stay tourists, that use, hotels, restaurants and move inland to winery's

no details yet of cost of tickets.

I know the feeling about the distance, have friends that keep inviting us to visit,

but just to go down under to spend 12 days there just does not add up,

want to see NZ as well so need to be away for a month,

it or its volume.

Glad you enjoyed Kirkwall, pity you missed the chapel you must have driven past it,

did you try any local black pudding, or a dram of Highland Park,

so much in a tiny place, wish more folks would visit.

Once You might have been able to change at no cost,

would expect a handling fee,

if same grade etc would not expect lose of fare,

but you have to call Princess direct,

have had issues in the past when dealing with a TA,

wanted to make a change a to a flight Princess said no issue no fee

but my TA want £200 for doing it, wanted to cancel trip they said Ok

we keep your deposit, have never used a TA since,
