Just received an email denying our bid for an upgrade. That is ok. Money saved.
Denied as well LOL I said the same thing....more money for other things :)
-
My TA called on Thursday morning and said they had released 9 balcony rooms. I could have re-booked for one but the price was a good bit higher than my bid so I decided to take a chance and stay with my bid.I talked with him later that afternoon and he said 9 balcony rooms were still available. He could not tell me which ones but did say none had an obstructed view which was good. That is the last time I talked with him and NCL will notify successful bidders up to 48 hours b4 departure so if we are to hear anything it will be today.
I can book a balcony on priceline and another website, as of 5 minutes ago. Our bid is still pending. While I'm not "sweating" the upgrade (I'll be happy with the room we booked) the anticipation is killing me LOL I guess that is the "fun" of the bid process. See you in 2 days :)

We board on Monday!!! Thanks for the photos! HBD to your wife :)

Jenny, if you are referring to the Sky sailing on June 4, I saw the same as you and like you wondered what is going on so I called our NCL agent. He said that a big group booked a number of rooms and now none available. We already have a stateroom but had bid to upgrade so far without success. It looks doubtful the bids we put in will be accepted although he did tell us they could have some rooms set aside for those who bid and just have not been notified as yet. That happens and it takes a little while for the site to be updated although he did not hold out much hope for us. We have an inside porthole on the 8th floor. It will be our first inside stateroom and our last four cruises have been on the Haven and 3 Penthouse suites so it will be interesting to see how we like the inside. Regardless we will be on the ship and will arrive the same time as everyone else at a lower price.
Heard anything? Ours is still "Pending". Our TA said the same thing as you though, large group reserved the remaining cabins. You would think that would have automatically expired/canceled the bids...

You're in for an adventure but I LOVE your attitude :) I have a call in to our TA. We are in a picture window with a bid to a balcony. We'll be fine with our cabin without the upgrade, it just looked more promising yesterday. Crazy a big group would book this close to sailing. Esp. with the requirements oh well.... I'll see what the TA has to say. BTW says "pending" still :)

We sail 6/4 and currently have an Oceanview Picture Window. Bid is in for a Balcony. Saw on another thread folks that are sailing on 6/3 got their upgrades today!! I am excited and hoping we find out more than 3 days before departure. :)
Yesterday I could still book every type of cabin on our sailing. Today all show as unavailable on the website we booked through and on NCL.com the sailing isn't even an option. There were tons of cabins yesterday. Balconies alone on one deck, there were 10. Anyone know why they would be "unavailable" 5 days before?

So I have to contact NCL in advance for permission to lug a gallon of distilled H20 for his CPAP machine? They don't provide any once on board? He'll have to carry on a 8 lb gallon jug??? Crazy!! What about extension cord for plugging it in? Do they provide one? Anyone know? Haven't sailed NCL since 3/17 and he never needed this darn machine till now!! We've only sailed Celebrity since then and they provided both - no problem
They will provide. On another thread someone said there is Special Assistance you can arrange in advance.
Access Desk "In order to make your cruise experience as enjoyable as possible and so that we can try to meet your specific needs, call 1-866-584-9756 (voice), fax (305) 468-2171, send an email to accessdesk@ncl.com or have your travel agent contact us. "

Probably stating the obvious here but you should probably think twice about taking pictures of someones unclothed children. Let the officers in the Chain of Command handle it.
I'm glad you stated it b/c it is not obvious to some folks....

Sounds like some people are counting on upgrades.. Not.a safe bet.. If you take the approach that an upgrade is a perk and just book the room you will be happy with you shouldn't be disappointed.
We have one of the secret balconies booked and have bids in on The Haven. I am thrilled with my booked cabin but if I am lucky I bough to have my bid accepted I'd be thrilled even more with a bid I'm comfortable with.
Good Luck All!!!!
"Secret balconies" what is that?!?!?!

Its frustrating... we are travelling a week ahead of our cruise, and will not have access to print luggage tags, etc, if we win our bids. Ya kinda wanta know where you are staying!
Just a tip - if you go to a public library, kinkos, etc. they will have terminals where you can print. I've had to print while on the road before and those are my "go-to" stops.
-
Not on the same cruise, but sailing in 6 days. No word on our upgrade. I'm also antsy and constantly checking what is still available. Fingers crossed!

OP - I agree with the information provided by the above CC users. As far as ressies (reservations?), Freestyle dining does not require them. Take a look and the FAQs on NCL.com and a lot of what you called "lies" will be answered. It seems your TA did not explain how NCL works.

When you say "water" do you mean bottled? My understanding is that there is "tap" water available at no additional charge.
I was just on the Sky to Cuba and the all inclusive was awesome. Only water and Gatorade not included (unless you are on a CAS comp in the casino you can get free water. Even GSC was included with free drinksSent from my iPhone using Forums

I think $75 is fair. I looked at a few other websites and it can be more than double.

This one is significantly less but still more than the $75. https://cubavisaservices.com/product/touristvisa-card/

Thank you Thank you! I'm booked on the Sky June 4-8, same itinerary. What a great review and I am terribly sorry for your Havana/Cuba experience. I am glad to know there is Trivia. Also, that there is a white party. My S/O was asking and we couldn't find anything on either one of those. I'm glad we didn't book Le Bistro, but we have booked Cagney's.
-
You most certainly can book your own excursions and not the ones that NCL sells.
And, yes, you can book NCL excursions to Havana on the ship.
Just off the Sky three hours ago.
Thank you. I get worried calling and asking them anything. I asked her to confirm twice about booking on board. She said I must call the 866# or book via the website. Confusing and frustrating.

We are sailing on the Sky leaving June 4. We booked through a third party and I just confirmed with Terry at NCL that our Visa fee was included in the single fare price paid upfront. It will be waiting for us when we board. She made sure to confirm the other travel requirements:
* Passport BOOK valid for 6 months after the cruise
* Completion of the OFAC paperwork (e-mail with link will be sent)
On another note she mentioned that you can do excursions in Cuba that aren't booked through NCL. However, if you want to book through NCL you must do so before departing either by calling or via the NCL website. You can not book them onboard the Sky.

On the website it indicates the small pool and HotTub on Deck 12 are for children.
However, I have read and seen on video that it has been changed to an adults area due to the lack of children traveling on this ship in recent years.
Can anyone that has been on the Sky in the past 12 months confirm either way?
Thanks :)

To travel to Cuba you need to fill out the OFAC form. It basically tells the US government why you were there. They will send you, the cruise line, alink to the form to be completed. They will also provide very detailed instructions on how to complete the form.
The visa is a separate document that allows you to enter Cuba. It is provided by the Cuban government. Our $75 fee was included in the cost of our cruise. You may want to call NCL directly to make sure that it’s included in your fare. If not, you just pay it separately. NCL takes care of all the paperwork.
You also need a valid US passport book that is valid for six months after your cruise.
-
Thank you. I simply wanted to make sure that the OP knew the process. I am aware that the visa is issued by Cuba and the OFAC paperwork is for the US government. The OFAC form has nothing to do with the visa. Different governments.
