  1. And even if THIS changed they still wouldn't let you bring weed on the ship. They want you to buy the drink package! (Though if it ever truly became legal I look forward to buying the "UDP," or "Unlimited Dank Package.) I wasn't questioning that it was illegal on the ship- or wondering the reason. I just thought it was amusing that it was the one place I wasn't allowed to do it out of all the places we visited (and come from).
  2. We sailed to Alaska this past summer. I'm from California, where it's legal. Boarded our ship in Washington where it is also legal. Stopped in ports in Alaska and Canada, legal in both cases. The one place I was NOT allowed to have anything was on the ship. Was kind of funny, but I played along. I figure if I can't go a week without gummies then maybe it's time to think about whether I should really be doing them.
  3. Haven't been to Icy Point Strait, but can confirm that Juneau is a great place to go whale watching. We saw several whales this past summer, including calves (amongst other wildlife). I highly recommend a tour that combines the whale watching with Mendenhall Glacier, and if you do that tour you should take the easy "hike" (on flat land on a mostly paved path) out to Nugget Falls. It's quite impressive! I can't remember if we're allowed to mention specific tour companies on here, but if you're looking to WATCH WHALES in JUNEAU you should be able to easily find the company we used (booked separate from the cruise line).
  4. Interesting! (Though I have to admit I have no idea what these are.) Does Quantum already have these, or would they need to be installed to sail out of L.A. as well?
  5. Right now Navigator runs mostly 3 & 4 night sailings to Ensenada (and Catalina on the 4 nights) but once a month or so they do week long cruises to Cabo, Mazatlan and PV. Wondering if maybe they're going to take a run at having one ship do those week long cruises full time and one handling the 3-4 nights?
  6. Been following the developments regarding 2025 deployment, and it seems like here's what we know so far: -Ovation is doing TP in spring 2025 but NOT doing Alaska that summer -Navigator is not presently scheduled for any cruises after April 2025 Curious as to what people think regarding the plans for these two ships. Is it possible they may both be based in Los Angeles? Are there any locations where Navigator could fill a void after April 2024 (Caribbean, etc.)? If Ovation is coming to the West Coast but not doing Alaska is there any other port it could head to after arriving in Vancouver in 2025 that makes sense other than LA? Wondering because we're hoping to book a weekend cruise out of LA in 2025 and I'd far prefer to do that cruise on Navigator than Ovation (nothing against Ovation, I loved that ship last summer, but Navigator would still be my preference for a short cruise). I realize nobody here likely knows anything official, and that we'll know one way or another in a couple of months, but just curious as to what people think might be happening... Thanks!
  7. Absolutely! I personally don't really understand the hype around Eagle Rare. It's fine, especially if I've already had a couple of others, but honestly I prefer both regular BT and Blanton's over ER.
  8. This doesn't make much sense to me either, but even less sense that the Blanton's was only $18 by comparison?? Was Cuervo also $7 more than Patron??
  9. Yep- which is why it still makes sense for me to get the package on most cruises. On my cruise on Navigator last year I drank almost exclusively in the Bamboo Room and loved the Bamboo Room Mai Tai- which I believe were $14 a pop. At those prices it only takes 5-6 to hit the break even point with an $80 package.
  10. Because we drink a lot, so it's still cheaper.
  11. I totally agree! We did their whale watching/Mendenhall Glacier tour in Juneau and it was fantastic.
  12. Their memories may have been a bit short because we were there in mid-June and the weather was the same as yours. I second those who say that June is better for snow on the mountains. It was absolutely gorgeous. Also, there were tons of little waterfall ribbons everywhere on the mountains (and some larger waterfalls as well), not sure if you'd see as many of those once most of the snow was already gone (but maybe you would?)
  13. Thanks- I saw this before I posted, but I couldn't tell if it was for corporate events or any kind of event (if you had a group). The sense I get is that if you want to do stuff like this you MAY (but not definitely?) need to book the cruise as a group, and then the special events coordinator will work with you for this kind of a thing. But it's good to know that it seems to be an option.
  14. I'll call them if/when I'm unable to find out any information at all from anyone here, but in general I try to avoid calling calling RC's customer service if possible. Not usually a great experience.
  15. Hey! I've tried searching for as much info on this as I can on my own, but am hoping that people who have done something at least kinda similar might be able to help out. We're contemplating a birthday sailing that will probably have anywhere from about 15 to 30 people on it. We're thinking about having a private event for our group at some point during the sailing (likely a 3 night Mexico cruise on Navigator), and would love to be able to do a karaoke party for a couple of hours if there's a way to do it. So my questions are: 1) Are private events for a group that size even a thing? 2) If so, do you know if we'd be in a conference room or some other type of space? 3) Would karaoke be available for this type of event? 4) Would we be able to have food, drinks, etc. provided? 5) Any ballpark on what all this might cost? 6) How do I go about arranging this? Do I just call the main customer service line? I realize that there's probably nobody reading this who is going to say "yes, I had a karaoke party for 20 people on a weekend Navigator cruise with food and drinks and it cost $_________" so any information about any aspect of this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  16. Their website still advertises free access to Atlantis, and I tried doing a mock booking for one night in December and it was going to let me do it. There's a disclaimer on their website saying that you won't get access to Aquaventure if you book on the same day as your stay, but if you book in advance it looks like you still would. I'd be curious to know if anyone has done this recently, as I'm sure we'll be going back to Nassau at some point and have thought about it as an option.
  17. I don't remember the details but when we looked into going to the Atlantis water park there was some weird loophole where you could book a room with their partner hotel- which was across the street or something like that- and you would get free admission to the water park for something like up to 4 people. The rooms weren't necessarily "cheap" (I think around 300-400) but they were cheaper than taking a family to Atlantis on a day pass either through the ship or directly through the resort. So you'd go to the hotel in the morning, "check in," and they'd give you your pass to enter the park. I believe it's still a thing, I just can't remember which hotel it is. If you google it you shouldn't have too much trouble finding what I'm talking about. I suppose as a bonus you'd have a hotel room you could go hang out in and shower, etc. at the end of your stay before getting back on the ship, but I think most people never actually step foot in their hotel room.
  18. Sailed on Ovation in mid-June, had a great cruise (for the most part). This is why I never give too much weight to any particular review, good or bad- there's so much about a cruise that can make your own experience a terrible one that it's impossible to know if you'd have a good or bad time just because someone else did.
  19. Envious of all you folks who actually had Buffalo Trace on your cruise. On Ovation a few weeks ago couldn't find it on the ship. Drank a lot of Maker's Mark and sodas instead.
  20. I can't answer the question as to whether reservations will become available again once you're on the ship, but I think the posters above are probably correct in that there may be spots that open up on embarkation day. To that point- once you're in the port and close enough to the ship to connect to its WiFi you can make reservations for things before you actually board. Might help you get a head start on folks who are waiting to get on board. As for Spectra's Cabaret specifically, we just saw it about 3 weeks ago on Ovation and it received mixed reviews from our group. My neighbor and I liked it, my wife hated it, most other people were somewhere in the middle. When you go make sure you show up very early- probably a half hour or so- and sit as close down towards the floor as possible, as you can't see much from the higher seats. Finally, while everyone else is correct about not needing reservations for other shows on board, you will need to jump on and make reservations for the North Star as soon as possible if you're hoping to use one of the free slots. Probably the same for iFly.
  21. Last week I learned on Ovation that not everyone reads the info for the co-ed steam room in the thermal suite. You're suppose to wear a bathing suit. At least one person in there did not.
  22. First time on the internet? 😄 Hilarious that this topic comes up at least monthly and yet here we are with another SIX PAGES of comments. I think the only true solution is to abolish the MDR altogether.
