  1. Re:all our luggage. Still MIssing!

Our choice was to say surrender and go home or go shopping in Copenhagen. We chose to go shopping. Bought enough to get us thru the next three days, including rain gear and sweaters. That should get us thru six days with a repeat. Except for dress shoes. Couldn’t find Herb’s size. He flew here with black sneakers. Guess what! Some people may be upset but that’s it —unless our luggage shows up.

I was a sight, zipping thu the mall this afternoon on my red scooter, grabbing everything off the rack

We are now ready to board tomorrow.

This has become a real adventure!

Thanks everyone for your concern and support.

    Sheila

    what airline lost your bags?

    are regent helping?

  2. answers below

A few new questions I have are:

Will I still accrue frequent flyer miles if Regent books the flights? Yes

Will I have access to the business/first class lounge while waiting for my flights? Yes

What is the average upcharge for Regent Choice excursions, and do you feel like the experience differs much from the included options? upcharge varies. worth it if you want to go on that excursion. choice excursions often include a meal

  3. While Regent is touted as all inclusive, it is not completely inclusive. For instance it seems more and more excursions are extra cost with fewer included and even with the included excursions, there are times when they fill up and you don't get your choice. You can waitlist but, not guaranteed you will get your chosen included excursion.

Not my experience with regent and waitlists usualy clear

Agree get a TA for advise and save $

You can take air and hotel credits with regent. your choice. enjoy

  4. We do have a full day in Rio before we get off the following day. I rang our TA yesterday and she said we wouldn't find out until nearer the time but Regent is trying to arrange something for that day but its not confirmed yet.....she rang Regent while I was on hold.

I will eventually post the outcome so future folks will have some idea of what happened !! ..but it might nor be until we get back.

As far as I am concerned Regent arranged the flights and transfers so we are still their responsibility until we fly out and I would hope they will look after us. Different if we had arranged our own.

My experience is that regent do look after you until time to go to airport but not always the same luxury as on the ship

We arrive in Rio on 19th January and get off the ship on 20th January and Regent arranged the flights (and Transfers) for that night !! I will "Go with the flow " !!!!

If they don't do right we will not be cruising with Regent again...it cost a lot of money so we have high expectation !!

To right! Lots of $ so they should tell you what they intend now not when you get there

  5. We will be arriving in Vancouver the Sunday before our Wednesday, July 25th departure. With our package, it states that ground transfers are included. Because we will be coming in several days prior, our TA said it was not possible to transport to the hotel through Regent, only on the day before departure - we will have to set up transportation.

Has anyone had airport/hotel transfer (included) through Regent several days prior? 5 of our party will be arriving close together, the other two later that night.

    Thanks

Did you book flights and hotel through Regent

  6. In terms of slamming Viking Ocean, it may simply be making a comparison of apples and oranges rather than anything being wrong with Viking Ocean. So, IOO (in our opinion) the discussion should be Viking vs. Oceania rather than Regent.

This thread is regent v viking and on the regent board so other discussion is probably elsewhere. Many love viking cruises

Having sailed twice on Viking Ocean and then once on Regent, I fully agree with these comments, Viking Ocean is a quality product and well worth a try. The comparisons between what is included on each cruise line is simple to do. We are more likely to sail again on Viking Ocean given the value it offers, but will also sail on Regent if we want to treat ourselves to that something more special, maybe our next big wedding anniversary.

It’s a bit like eating out near where we live, we all have our favourite local restaurants but for a special occasion we are happy to go the most expensive local one because it is excellent but maybe not quite worth the extra money on a regular basis.

Sometimes you want the best value and sometimes you just want the best!

    Neil

    good comparison

  7. Agree - hope that the redesign of the PH suites make it much better. We will be in an Explorer Suite for that cruise, a Grand Suite for our transatlantic cruise and a Seven Seas suite for our February, 2019 cruise.

    Jackie

So good to have all those cruises to look forward to and in such nice suites. We should follow your example of future planing

  8. We were in the Haven a couple of weeks ago and drinks are not included (unless you purchase the premium beverage package). Although discounted - with the alcohol shown on the video, you do have to pay extra (and drinks on NCL are expensive!!!). If you watch the video again, the bartender does mention the beverage package.

golfgirls - yes, I can compare a room in the Haven to a suite on Regent. Our stateroom on NCL was lovely - good size and well appointed. However, it was in dire need of soundproofing (and this was a brand new ship). Many of the doors close automatically and therefore slam automatically. We could hear slamming doors all night.

One thing that is included in the Haven is bottled water (you pay for it on the rest of the ship). We had a wonderful steward on our cruise but only saw our butler once.

The food in the Haven restaurant was good to very good (the seafood buffet luncheon was excellent but we were told that this was only put out for the christening cruise and regular NCL passengers had never seen it before.

The food in the specialty restaurants (we went to four - The Bistro (a French restaurant), La Cucina (Italian), the Mexican restaurant and barbecue restaurants. The Bistro was excellent and the other four were mediocre to poor. For included dining venues, we had a great breakfast in one of two coffee shop type restaurants. You may have noticed in the video that, even though breakfast was included in these restaurants, cappuccino and espresso is extra. We did stop by the huge buffet and had a soft serve ice cream which was good. Everything else looked okay - didn't try anything else.

It should be noted that passengers not only hog seats on the pool deck but also in the Observation Lounge. I believe the the Observation Lounge on the Bliss is the largest in the fleet -- it has lounge chairs (nice ones - not like on the pool deck) and people put everything you can think of on the lounges to save them. There is also a lot of food offered (included) in the Observation Lounge so there is food around. I can only imagine what the place looks like when they have 200 children on board.

I'm not trying to put down NCL - we actually had a lot of fun but to compare it to Regent is difficult if not impossible. There is a thread on the luxury board where I discussed our NCL cruise (the subject is something about having a luxury experience on a mainstream cruise line). I've included photos!

Just read your report on luxury part of cruisecritic. Very interesting have sailed on Regent but not ncl

If you do not mind sharing how did the price compare regent to ncl?

Read you are trying a different line in september. which one?
