  1. Hi, Thanks for the compliment on the pictures and review. I am sorry but we did not go into Boleros on this cruise. I also did not go into the future cruise area as we are not going to go on a cruise until 2014 :(

Not to worry... thanks anyway, and again... we will be in St Maarten in March and are making plans to go watch the planes ;)

  2. I can't speak for the bartender, but I did meet Cindy. We booked a future cruise with her. I found her to be a wonderful person. It took 5 minutes to book the actual cruise (as we know exactly what route and cabin) and we gabbed for 20 minutes while she did the paper work. I would look for her in the future if we return to the Allure, if not just to say hi. She is also the Crown and Anchor Loyalty person on board the ship.

Besides being Canadian we also share the common back-ground of argriculture. Not to forget the love of the sea.

Thanks for the update... we agree... she is so sweet and often book just to see her:) We didn't do too much cruising last year so missed her... in our planning were wondering where she might be. Again, thanks!

  3. Awesome pictures!!!! Thanks for the pictures and comments! Especially impressed with the pictures taken at Maho Beach, and your family looks super!

Two questions.... did you happen to stop in Boleros on the Promenade deck.... if yes wondered if a bartender "Adrian" still works there.... had heard he left RCCL, but don't know for sure.

Second question... do you know if Cindy Dangel was the Future Cruise Consultant?

  4. I've been in a photo scanning mood today, so I finally got around to scanning old photos of my early s/s/ NORWAY cruises. The pics are from July

1980 and August 1983. As you can imagine both cruises were awesome experiences, when NORWAY was in her prime. The July 1980 cruise was during her first month of service in the Caribbean. We missed out on the power outages that plagued the ship early in her NCL career.

Something unique about NORWAY in 1980 was the casino. It had slots only. Also

the production show was Hello Dolly and it was awesome. I even managed to grab some photos of the production. The Lido Lounge was a wonderful spot, one of my favorite places onboard. Everything on NORWAY was color coded back then to help you get around, even the carpet patterns. Turquoise color was forward, and salmon color was aft. Even your ticket jackets matched where you were staying on the ship, and what pier you embarked from (Pier 1 or Pier 2).

Not much had changed when we returned in 1983. Thankfully the Lido Lounge was still in tact. The biggest change was that table games were added to the casino and Hello Dolly was gone, replaced I believe by My Fair Lady but I'm not 100% sure about that. On our first cruise we dined in the Leeward Restaurant, but this time around it was a large center table in the Windward Dining Room which I much preferred.

Hope you enjoy this little walk back in time.

Thanks for the memories.... we sailed her July 20-28, 1980... loved her!

  5. If you are in 1010, 1020, 1520 be sure to take ear plugs! The room is lovely and if you get Robert as Attendant he is super... the only thing to be aware.... you are under the Windjammer "kitchen" area. And we have stayed in all three rooms... and it has never failed that around 2 or 3 in the morning the "cleaning" starts. The first time I heard the first "bang" I jumped out of the bed. My dh never heard a thing. So if you are a "sound" sleeper, probably no issue. For me I love the rooms so just wear the plugs, sleep at night and enjoy the room/ship during the day :D Oh... the pictures posted are excellent representations of all three cabins.... excuse me :o Suites ;)

    Good luck on the upgrade.

  6. I wanted a picture in front of a certain backdrop on formal night, but as we rounded the corner, my sister in law pointed at the long line for pictures. I gasped and turned around and said, "My God. It is huge!" but my sister-in-law had moved to my left so that put me saying this to a complete stranger--- and he didn't miss a beat-- he threw it right back to me with a quick "yeah, but I've never had any complaints."

Thank you for a great "first" laugh of the day:D :)

  7. We went to one of the shows in the Theater and the Park West made a brief presentation before the show... had a piece of "art" that was framed and said it was a $600. value.... and asked anyone in the audience who would pay $1.00 for it to stand... well the price kept going up and people sat down.... my dh was the "last one standing".. .so they said he "won" and it would be for free. The presenter came back to our seat later and told us to come to their auction to pick up our prize. We went. Then was told we had to make an appointment to meet with them at their desk. We asked... why can't you just hand it to us. Eventually we were told.. you can't "carry it off" you have to give us the information to ship it???? Long story... shortened..... we never received the "free work of art".... the shipping costs were more than we wanted to pay for the "art"!!!!!

  8.   The Freedom of the Seas certainly does have this area. I've been on the Freedom 4 times and have been out on the deck outside the Diamond lounge while on board. The outside deck of the Liberty is identical to the outside deck on the Freedom so I'm confused as to why you say that you didn't have one on the Freedom of the Seas as it certainly does exsist!

The difference is that with the Freedom... there is a sign in the Diamond Lounge that states if you leave there is no re-entry... which can be "overcome" by having someone open the door... or "prop" it open.... and the area outside is for use by anyone....

On the Liberty they have included the area for the Diamond Lounge guests.... don't have a clue about the Independence:confused:
