  1. It was disheartening to see their claims of "we need to at least get to vote on it" despite the city attorney already addressing the issues within the VITF- Visitors Industry Task Force- and stated there would be huge legal issues with trying to impose limits similar to the ones pushed by JuneauCAN. Theres a better way to do this. And a permanent charter amendment is not the right way.
  2. If there are 8 of you, just talk to Serene at Juneau Tours. They have a 14 passenger van/bus that can take you and pick you up. She may be cheaper than taking 2 taxis ($30 each + each direction). 8 is too many for any of our cabs in town, plus the wait for them may be long. Tell her Nate from Alaska Yukon sent ya. (907) 723-9209
  3. Canada hasn't stopped the AMH ferries from going between Bellingham & Ketchikan, and I think their capacity is just shy of 500. Everyone in Juneau is HOPING and PRAYING we get some sort of season this summer. Its beyond dead here, and all the independent travelers/ex-cruisers *POINTING AT YA'LL* are bypassing Southeast this summer and booking land packages/tours in the interior! 😞 😞 😞
  4. It was amazing watching the boat leave the dock! Juneau IS OPEN for everyone!!!
  5. We don't want this in Juneau - the numbers will decimate the cruise community. Whats really odd is the 100K GWT limit; that removes almost ALL the new ships coming out; especially the ones that are LNG powered. One would think a "true" environmentalist would want those ships up here. I guess not. So, Bunker C it is!
  6. I own a travel agency and we haven't heard a PEEP about any line or ship being given the "clear" to start sailing. This includes CLIA, Virtuoso, Travel Edge, and ASTA.
  7. Its painless and quick. You can also mark "sore throat" on the form to get tested at most CVS & Walgreens. Results in Alaska take 3 to 4 days. The State asks you remain quarantined until you get your results. Someone recently in Ketchikan did NOT do that and got 10+ infected,
  8. We arent. I wish I could say more without violating CC rules (I am an avid cruiser but own a travel agency/tour operator). Alaska *IS* open and ready for you. Lots of excursions available in Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway for Southeast. I literally just got in 2 hours ago from an amazing Tracy Arm trip. People are hurting and the AK Cares Grant isnt helping like it should. Without immediate help, many of your smaller & favorite venues won't make it to 2021. taken early June. Should have been 5 ships in port. Earlier today at Tracy Arm Fjord / South Sawyer Glacier Skagway in Mid May.
  9. Non-essential travel ban extended to May 19th. https://www.ktoo.org/2020/04/21/watch-live-dunleavy-administration-to-announce-mandates-reopening-alaskas-economy/
  10. Its all delivered on embarkation day, mostly. When I was on Escape a few months ago, I had 2 bottles of wine + chocolate covered strawberries- 1 wine for Latitudes, and 1 for my Partners First/Travel agent amenity + the chocos. I don't think we drank them because we all had the beverage plan.
  11. Looked at some cabin configurations on NCL SeaWeb (agent portal). Standard Balcony - BF - cabin is 175 sq feet, balcony 32 "Mini Suite" err Club Balcony - MB - cabin is 207 sq feet, balcony same 32 "Spa Mini Suite" M9 - cabin is same, 207 sq feet, balcony 32. HI - Haven Penthouse - only 255 sq feet on the cabin, balcony is 54. H9 - Haven Spa "suite" is the same size as the Penthouse IC - inside - 135 sq feet
  12. Greetings, Was reviewing an itinerary some friends and I want to book in October, and noticed that the mini-suites are now being sold as "Club Balcony" category. I've checked NCLU and emailed my BDM (Norwegian travel agent manager) and there's nothing on this thing. Probably an early roll out or they forgot to tell us. I'm wondering if we're going to see a few more perks added to the Mx categories?!?!
  13. I wish the CC forums were like some other boards where we can make a sticky/wiki type page that we can update... 😕 figured a spreadsheet is easier. Will be curious to see how quickly some of us get refunds.
  14. Greetings, I figured this might be easier for us to start tracking when we get our refunds. I am building a Google Spreadsheet that you can use to input your information and we can get an idea of what to expect. Right now, NCL is saying "90 days" to process, but I'm hopeful and praying its not that, especially for people, like me, who were to cruise this past week. I'm also hopeful that with enough people's information public, we can get NCL to "speed up" the process if it truely IS 90 days. Here is the document if you wish to participate. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17CZpuhe_oCuJ7j4Dair4zwP56M-WIpFxYbc4EjwJ2FQ/edit?usp=sharing
  15. Thank god my community is finally stepping up. Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Girl Scout Troop 4077 would like to raise $2,500 to bring cookies to the crew of the Westerdam. The effort is called Spread Cookie Kindness in Juneau. https://www.kinyradio.com/news/news-of-the-north/girl-scouts-collect-for-westerdam/
