The times and dates of Hairspray have changed. Not sure if it is just for my sailing or not, but I just received this email a few days ago about my upcoming August trip:
The August 3rd sailing also changed, as did many others (when I posted about this). I strongly suggest nos using an old calendar as a point of reference as it seems to be changing permanently this summer.

Have you tried talking to Crown & Anchor? Sometimes we have better luck with them.
Thanks. I'll try that in a few days if it's still not resolved.

It takes 5-7 business days for a refund to go through. Nothing unusual.
Yes, but I've canceled numerous things already through Cruise Planner (due to price drops). The refunds have shown up in 3 days.
For some reason, this refund is taking much longer, and the SetSail pass won't correct.
-
I purchased The Key and then cancelled it the same day and everything has gone downhill since then.
It's been 5 days since I did this. The purchase has been on my credit card for 3-4 days, but the refund is nowhere to be seen. The Key icon is still on my SetSail pass and Royal's atrocious customer service is just unable help. I get stuck with agents who are reading me scripts by phone and have no means to help.
I've read on Cruise Critic how bad Royal's IT really is... I guess I finally am having my experience.

Exactly... It's based on the person at the cash / the bar itself.
On Harmony, only 1 bar was still giving receipts for those with drink packages. The only real reason to do this is because you can give extra tip that way.

Also, yes, the email I just copied was wrong. They didn't replace 1977 with HiRO. Someone did a bad copy & paste.

Curious - were you told to move the shows or did they move them for you, like they did for me
They were moved for me. I also received this by email (1 per item moved):
We have processed a change to your reservation made using our Cruise Planner based on one of the following scenarios:
- A change in departure time for your reservation was made by the tour operator;
- A change has been made to your cruise itinerary or one of the ports visited that required for your reservation to be changed;
- A change has been made to your arrival and/or departure time for a specific port that required for your reservation to be changed.
Special Note: Dear Guest, Due to the installation of a new theater cast we will have to move some of the show times and dates around. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause. Your reservations have automatically been moved from the original showtime to the new showtime. Thank you very much for understanding and we look forward to seeing you onboard the Symphony of the Seas. Original Showtime: 1977 - August 3rd @ 8:30pm New Showtime: HiRO - August 4th @ 7:00pm

I'm on the August 3rd sailing - never got an email. I have all my shows booked. Does that mean the shows I booked were not changed?
I guess not. But most shows were moved.

Does The Key include priority lines for The Ultimate Abyss/waterslides/zipline on Symphony? I called Royal twice today and literally got both a yes and a no.

Why worry about the key still showing on your set sail pass. You have cancelled. If by some chance you get a few extra perks because someone believes you still have the key then you lucked out.
I guess. I just like things to be clean. 🙂
I just called Royal again (my original post was based on my experience last night). The person told me that my sailing only has lunch at Jamie's Italian offered. I wonder if this is a change to the program that is being rolled out fleet-wide.
-
I've been tempted by The Key for my upcoming Symphony sailing. Been a bit on the fence.
For some reason, even though it's not sold out, Cruise Planner was giving an error when I tried to buy it. So I did it by phone with Royal. This is when things started to go wrong.
First off, the agent clearly knew nothing. I asked him if The Key includes priority lines during all hours to every activity, including The Ultimate Abyss. I was told yes.
Once he put the sale through, I noticed the product name was "The Key (Jamie's Reservation)". At first, the agent told me that it meant nothing. Then he admitted that this meant my embarkation lunch is at Jamie's Italian. I don't want this. I already get a lunch there as I have a Central Park room.
When I told the agent that he needed to tell me this before putting the transaction through, he did not care. He also didn't even bother canceling my Wi-Fi that was purchased since it was redundant.
After the call, being on the fence, I cancelled The Key. Except the icon still remains on my set sail pass... I called Royal and the agent was clueless as well.
Morale of the story: I should have left The Key alone. Now I don't know how to fix my set sail pass...

Maybe they wanted to run Flight to honour the Lunar Landing? I think that show has some space themes.

Same emails for us on the August 24 cruise. Hairspray was moved from night time to 315pm (terrible...I went and shuffled days) and HIRO was moved to the first day instead of day 5 (fine for us, same time)
Hm. I get it for an August 3rd sailing. However, 3 weeks later, not sure why they're still shuffling things around. My sailing also has the 3:15 PM showing (which does not appeal to me at all).
-
I'll be on Symphony in early August.
Does anyone think a 6:45 PM MTD reservation is too close for an 8:30 PM HiRO (aqua) show? I'd imagine on night 1, the dining room gets busy around that time and many will try to see the 8:30 PM HiRO show. However, I was trying to avoid the 10:30 PM show.

They insert the new cast gradually which often changes the order of the productions. This allows the new cast to do only one show during their first week onboard. They pick up the other show their second week. We've encountered this several times while doing Back2Backs. We appreciate the desire and dedication of the new cash in getting it right.
Interesting. Do you think that'd mean that the Hairspray cast is new (if they were pushed later in the week)? Could be interesting to see a cast on their "premiere" night.
-
Typo... Hairspray is the second half. Not Harmony.
-
I've been receiving emails this afternoon that my August 3rd Symphony sailing show reservations have been moved around due to new casts being "installed" (joining the new ship).
Any ideas as to why this would result in Flight being the first half of the week and Harmony being the second half? Not entirely thrilled with some of the new times and I've had to rearrange a bunch of items. However, I'm sure it'll work out.
Likewise, 1977 (skating show) has been moved off the 1st day of the cruise with HiRO taking place instead.

Izumi is honestly nothing special. Tried it last year on Harmony. The mochi for dessert is good, but the sushi is very standard for any "land" restaurant.
Can't comment on the others and I didn't eat at any other restaurants.
-
Gold is basically just "repeat guest". When people have been on hundreds of cruises and cruises become more and more mainstream, it's hardly an accomplishment to have just 3 points.
It's no different than airlines, hotels and more.
-
Thanks for sharing. Did you have The Key or any special privileges on embarkation day?
When you say that the Solarium breakfast was busier "late morning", when was that?
-
Just recognize that this is the "rack rate" for each excursion. I'm looking at the prices for my upcoming cruise and they're substantially more than I paid.

I just got off symphony and off of oasis in March. No headliner shows. The last night on both ships they had the same comedians that we saw in comedy club. Even worse, the same exact show. Why even go to the comedy club during the week when the exact show is repeated in the theatre.
That's too bad. Last year on Harmony, the headliner was a great a cappella group (The Edge Effect).
-
Thanks everyone.
With this in mind, is there a point in seeing the show at the attic and the theatre?
-
For my upcoming Symphony cruise, I see that they have a comedy show in the theatre instead of a headliner show.
Does this mean that Royal couldn't find a headliner for this cruise? Would it be the same routine that I'd find in the attic? Or would it be a different performer?
Thanks!

Hmm. I have the same problem. It looks like my C&A number is no longer associated with my account.
Though, all I did was re-enter it and everything is fine.
