  1. Best wishes for your voyage @photosg! We're on the QM2 version of Norway in a few weeks from now in November, so will be eager to hear of your experiences. I see that your itinerary includes a cruise-by to Romsdalsfjord, which QM2's does not. If you have a chance, and would like to contribute to the "Where in the World" port game, please share a photo. Romsdalsfjord is an unseen cruise-by in the game. Thanks!
  2. Correct! It was a very scenic dawn in Auckland harbour, and we had a great room at the Hilton to observe QE's arrival. I had posted a similar photo in the daily sunrise thread. That voyage was our first on QE, stopping the next day in the Bay of Islands and then across the Tasman to Sydney. @bluemarble posted the original Auckland photo back in September 2020, a capture from QE's bridgecam of the city. @exlondoner quickly identified the port.
  3. PS - I was not the one who submitted the original port photo, nor was I the port identifier. Another game participant was faster.
  4. From the Cunard Australia web site, as at 5 October: https://www.cunard.com/en-au/the-cunard-experience/sailing-with-confidence/preparing-to-sail/before-you-board 24 hours for RAT, 48 for PCR. "May" be asked to show proof. Also, Australia still has the prorated FCC in the event of testing positive while onboard.
  5. Here is a different view of an already-seen port in our game. The previous photo posted here was of the city from the Cunard ship. Here is the ship from the city. The time of day may make it a challenge to identify. Mrs sfred and I were staying at a nearby hotel prior to embarking later that day.
  6. While not a cocktail, Mrs. sfred and I both like a nice port in QM2's Carinthia port bar in the evenings. A few years back, we were on a TA that featured RADA, and several evenings they did a "bedtime story" reading. Accompanied by port, it was a most pleasant way to finish the day.
  7. From reports here on Cruise Critic, the sb@cunard.com email works great for people in the US. But my emails to that address seemed to go into a black hole, with no response either of a delivered message or a failed one.. Perhaps my emails, originating from an Australia ISP, were getting filtered out by Cunard IT.
  8. Just in case anyone is interested in the outcome of my CCL shareholder credit queries. I was finally successful, ironically with the one department that initially replied and said they didn't process Cunard credits. I called the Carnival UK shareholder credit phone number that @LittleFish1976 kindly provided and spoke to several different people on three different calls. One person said the Carnival shareholder credit no longer applied for Cunard. Another said the credit applied only for UK residents. A third said that the Carnival UK department didn't support Australia shareholders and I needed to call and deal with Carnival Australia, despite the Cunard Australia website clearly stating to contact Carnival UK. At that point I was nearly ready to throw in the towel and give up. But I tried one further time with the Cunard Australia email cunard.aspac@carnivalaustralia.com. They very helpfully pursued my query with shareholderbenefit@carnivalaustralia.com. (This was the department that had answered my original email and said they didn't handle Cunard and I needed to write to sb@cunard.com in the US, which never replied). Anyway, a week or so after cunard.aspac@carnivalaustralia.com got involved, I finally have my shareholder credit and updated booking confirmation. So as best I can tell from this experience, for CCL shareholders in Australia: Don't try to go through Carnival UK, despite the direction from the Cunard Australia website. Don't email sb@cunard.com in the US. They don't seem to ever answer. shareholderbenefit@carnivalaustralia.com seems to be the correct email. Although you might need cunard.aspac@carnivalaustralia.com to assist. Good luck!
  9. Ah - yes, of course! I was looking in the wrong places. What I thought was an ITS sign on one of the petroleum tanks is actually FFS Refiners. And what I thought was Clarion hotels is actually the City Lodge Hotel V&A Waterfront. These two errors sent me to the wrong places. It was a good challenge for me, thanks @Starboardhome. But we all have to be sharp on our game to take on @bluemarble. Look forward to some more photos from your files.
  10. Actually, I'm stumped. There are a lot of good clues (colours and shapes of cargo cranes, pier configurations, what looks like ITS on one of the tanks, what looks like a Clarion hotel chain sign), but I haven't found any matches.
  11. Here is another view of QM2's arrival that morning, showing the skyline of Boston. Both photos were taken from the deck 11 observation area.
  12. Absolutely correct, well done @bluemarble. The photo was taken on 12 July 2015, at dawn on QM2's arrival into Boston on the 175th anniversary westbound TA. A key clue in the photo is the Logan control tower silhouetted on the horizon at the left side, which has a rather distinctive shape. The channel to the Black Falcon cruise terminal and other Boston piers passes very close to the end of Logan runway 4R. If Logan is using that runway for arrivals, aircraft landings have to be temporarily suspended during the passage of any ship of moderate height.
  13. Here is another already seen Cunard port, but I don't think we've had this particular view yet. Dual fans of shipping and aviation will probably recognise the port and airport.
  14. I'm afraid I can't identify the other ship in the bridgecam. The funnel looks like it could be Grimaldi Lines, but those ships usually have large Grimaldi Lines lettering along the hull. Although perhaps they didn't in 2012?
  15. Looks like this could be Civitavecchia Italy? If so, it is prior to the construction of the Amerigo Vespucci cruise terminal, which would date this bridgecam from before 2018. The building in the distance, just prior to the bend in the pier, looks like the Terminal Bramante. The Cunard ship is likely to be QV?
  16. Thanks all for the heads-up on the Monday bank holiday. I'll wait until later in the week to call.
  17. Thanks @LittleFish1976. That's very useful. The Cunard Australia page only has the UK email, fax, and postal address, not the phone number. I'll give them a call on Monday night my time.
  18. Thanks @Host Hattie and @Victoria2. My emails to shareholderbenefits@carnivalukgroup.com and sb@cunard.com seem to disappear into the internet. No replies at all, either automated or otherwise, from either address. I included all the information in @Victoria2's message, and attached my shareholding statement. My email to shareholderbenefit@carnivalaustralia.com did get an initial automated reply, followed by a reply from an agent that they did not handle Cunard requests and I needed to go through sb@cunard.com in the US. I wondered if my email origin from Australia is somehow getting filtered at the Carnival UK address and the Cunard US address. I don't get an undelivered message indicating failure, just silence.
  19. Has anyone in AU/NZ had any recent success applying for the Carnival shareholder credit? I bought 200 shares of CCL on the London Stock Exchange in early August (at a very reasonable price I think), and started the process of applying for the credit for our upcoming voyage in November.. I initially emailed my information (name, booking reference, ship, sailing date, shareholding statement) to shareholderbenefits@carnivalukgroup.com (benefits plural with an s), as directed by the Australia Cunard website. I tried again two weeks later. I've never received any response. I tried calling the Cunard Australia call centre, and they instructed me to email the information to shareholderbenefit@carnivalaustralia.com (benefit singular no s). I did get a response from them, saying that they do not process credits for Cunard and I should email sb@cunard.com. I've sent three emails now to sb@cunard.com, and have never received any response. What am I doing incorrectly? Is there a secret?
  20. That is "remote"!! Interesting that QV went that far north in 2009. Perhaps the northernmost cruise-by ever for a Cunard ship (74.45° N, 19.11° E)? Tromso is "only" 69.65° N
  21. This one is hard. Using your clue that no Cunard ship has passed by since your voyage, my thought was a location on a QE UK trip after the restart. But I can't match any terrain shapes, especially with the top of the island in the clouds. One possibility is Rathlin Island off the coast of Northern Ireland, so I'll try that for a guess?
  22. Appears to be Lands End Cornwall UK and the lighthouse? A nice view in, as you say, unusually calm conditions. One time years ago, Mrs. sfred and I were bushwalking on the coastal trails, and we had three or four alternating sequences of bright sunshine, heavy rain, freezing sleet, and fog. A wonderful area regardless, and the sleet made the beer even better at the pub afterwards.
  23. I always thought I might receive a free tour of the dish washing, laundry, deck swabbing, and/or bilge pump spaces if my credit cards got rejected and I was unable to pay my bill.
  24. Correct @bluemarble You were also the identifier of Juneau in the original August 2020 photo post. This photo of Juneau from QE's approach was taken on QE's maiden call 18 May 2019. The original photo of QE in post 162 (identified by @bluemarble in post 166) was taken from Mt. Roberts on our second call to Juneau during that voyage, 23 May. The weather was sunny and bright on our first call, and we did a drive to Mendenhall glacier. The second call was cloudy and rainy, and we were initially concerned that our plan for Mt Roberts that day would be obscured, but fortunately the cloud layer stayed above the mountain, enabling the post 162 picture from on high down to QE's dock.
  25. And, to complete the trio of Cunard ships in "reverse photos", here is an already-seen port on approach from the deck of QE.
