Our experience when we sailed aboard Meraviglia was that everyone that paid for Cirque shows in advance online got an “invitation” in their stateroom on their embarkation day which they then had to take to either the Cirque desk at guest services or to the Carousel Lounge to then select a date and seats, regardless of what they’d picked online.

Since we were on a multi-embarkation port itinerary, the line at the desk was long every afternoon every time that a new batch of passengers boarded the ship.

We didn’t book in advance. We booked our Cirque performance once we boarded the ship using the MSC for Me app on my phone. From it, we could select the show date we wanted. No need to stand in line. The tickets were then delivered to our stateroom on the morning of the show.

Good info to know we were thinking of booking before the cruise.

  2. Hi all

Hubs and I are cruising on the Meraviglia in Feb. It's our 1st MSC cruise.

I'm a vegan. From what I gather MSC only does the vegetarian diet. I'm hopeful that I will be able to modify entrees to fit my diet.

Does their ships carry any dairy free milk? I love a cappuccino with steamed free milk. I have dairy-free milk with my protein powder every morning.

    Any info is appreciated.

  3. My hubs uses a CPAP and we didn't know the cruise lines would provide the distilled water. On our 1st 2 cruises he would bring the gallon jug with us.

We got spoiled when X provided it for us.

We are going on the Meraviglia next Feb and will bring the supplies. I would rather just pay and have the water waiting for me.

  4. I take out travel insurance on all my cruises but I'm not sure how the plan would work. Because of the recent situations I'm going to call and ask about what if situations.

If I'm stranded in Barcelona can I purchase a new ticket to home. Or do I first have to get to Rome but what if I miss that flight?

If my cruise is extended to 8 days because of propulsion issues how much will my policy pay for new tickets? Or will it pay because it was my choice to go on the cruise.

  5. My DH & I brought binoculars to our Alaska trip last year and we ended up not using them. We returned them so I don't remember the specs but it  was a decent pair. Nikon good ratings.

We saw better out of my husband's DSlR camera.

  6. Our Caribbean price has dropped quite a bit since we booked it. AQ is now the original price of our Verenda. I told my DH I will book AQ if the price between the two is $200. Ideally $150.

We are on the Summit which means the PG value will be severely limited

We are sailing AQ for the 1st time to AK on the millennium in 2020. I picked the cabin for the location.

  7. The 1st major trip I went on was a land tour in Italy.. I took out travel insurance my friend did not. Who do you think got sick and had to see a local doctor in our hotel and fly home early. Not me.

Now lol insurance didn't help me but you never know the future.

It probably wasn't since salmon season is usually July-August. Wow, looking for these pictures, it was Sept 2, 2010 when I was last there. I was on a HAL ship that time. You can see from the pictures that mesh is only for keeping the salmon in area, not keep bears in or out. The viewing platform is right next to water. Fabulous trip, well worth the money. These were taken when I got my first Nikon D5000 and I was learning how to use the camera, most likely auto! Lens 70-300, some taken at 300mm

    Your pictures are beautiful.

We went to Alaska mid August on HAL in 2018. We did see a bear with their cub in a rainforest sanctuary but it definitely was not the same.

Hopefully we will see some bears in icy strait.

We were in a bus on Skagway tour to Yukon.  Saw 4 bears. Pics taken out the window. Distance 10-15 feet. One bear walked up to bus !!?!  It was amazing.

Our driver turned around and parked for pics. ( a benefit of bus over train).

Yay I have hope that I will see some. I haven't picked out my excursion for Skagway after learning Neets Bay was a no go because I was going in June.

I'm on a shore excursion from ship, via floatplane. It's not on the list of excursions any more (at least a few days ago) but they also have one by boat. I don't believe you get out of the boat on this one. The floatplane one, which I hope is the same one I did before, we get out of plane and walk the paths to the stream where the salmon are running. There is a platform just a tad above the stream, you are there with the bears. Walking back to the plane, you see trees where the sap is running from the bears scratching the bark, their sleeping areas, old boat, I loved it!!! Just hope it hasn't changed from what I remember.

I was looking for that excursion but never saw it. When are you going? I don't think it was ever offered for us because we are going Mid June.

We emissedit on our HAL cruise because it was booked up.

The new renovations are gorgeous. My cousin and I have a handicap accessible on deck 7. Thanks for the info on the lenses. I'm bringing my nikon 7100 and 2 lenses, 16-300 (wide angle and misc) and just got 100-400. Hoping for some bear pics! Going to Neets Bay.

How are you getting to Needs Bay?

This is incorrect.  The movie screen on Summit is on deck 12 which is above the aft AQ cabins.  Yes, there seems to be a noise issue on those balconies.  We will find out in October.  Sunset bar is below these cabins as you said but we didn't really hear any noise from there when we sailed in the aft cabins.

Oops you are absolutely correct about the movies being above. I mistakenly typed the wrong location.

I'm sailing AQ on the Summit in 2020 in 1105 I'm hoping I will not hear any movie noise.

  13. I visited the all vegan speciality chocolate truffle shop. It's located in one of the narraowest corridors

There is also a vegan butcher shop in a market with lovely shops. Sadly the Mac & cheezze was not good.

I loved Victoria. It's a beautiful city. My mom loved the tea at Empress palace but didn't like that you couldn't choose your tea sandwiches. She paid $75.
