  1. Don't get me wrong, I very much enjoy the spirited debates. I was just throwing my unsolicited 2 cents in. 🙂
  2. I feel like this debate has reached the "An unstoppable force has hit an unmovable object" stage of the argument. 😉
  3. I think I posted this before but I always thought the wild-card rounds (or 1st rounds) of any sport are the most exciting based on their unpredictability and the occasional upset. Having said that, a 3 game series is a little too short. One lucky win and a team is a halfway to a sweep while the other is facing elimination. Should be at least a 5 game series and go back to a 154 game regular season so the playoffs don't stretch into November. Hoping your last prediction comes true,🙂
  4. Braves took the season series 11-8 but only scored a total of 3 more runs over the 19 games. This might be a move evenly matched series than their records indicate with a few games going either way based on a lucky bounce of the ball.
  5. Regarding wearing a scarf, I also don't like covering my nose even when it's bitter cold outside. Except when I'm skiing & it's cloudy, windy and single digit temperatures. Or if I'm clearing the driveway during a blizzard . But I haven't skied in 10 years and now I wait until the snow has stopped falling before snowplowing/shoveling so, yeah, I never cover my nose. 🙂
  6. Bringing in the closer for a 9 out save? Interesting. Hope the Mets score a ton of runs in the next 3 innings!
  7. I didn't watch the game but 15 innings, 16 different pitchers (8 for each team) and only 11 hits combined for 1 run? Sounds like a snorefest.
  8. Your sarcasm detector has been off lately. 😉
  9. Nah, I'm just really picky as to who I associate with 😉 And I was kinda kidding. See, sarcasm does not translate well into the written word.
  10. @John&LaLa I didn't write it but it was kind of inferred that what I meant was: "But than I realized it was you I was replying to - and you understand sarcasm - so.....
  11. Earlier, I credited Buck with instilling a wining & accountable culture with the Mets and I still stand by that statement. However, he does make some questionable postseason decisions. I think he overthinks things & ends up outsmarting himself. He was saving DeGrom for an elimination game, which may be tomorrow. In theory, he was hoping for a 2 game sweep & save DeGrom for the next series so he could start Games 1 & 5 (if necessary). Honestly, on paper, the combo of Scherzer & deGrom look good but Scherzer is 38 years old and DeGrom is coming off an injury-shorten season. Both pitchers seemed to be fading down the stretch, not sure it would have made a difference who started first. But the hitters have to start hitting or this will be a very short series.
  12. I don't think I have 60 friends, military or otherwise, past or present. I do have a lot of acquaintances though. I think one of them visited San Diego once. 😉 I need to get out more. lol
  13. Absolutely having nothing to say has never stopped people from talking a lot. 🤣🤣🤣 =====> Disclaimer: This post is not directed at an one person.
  14. I was going to post a sarcastic reply but than thought better of it. Cause, you know, sometimes sarcasm doesn't translate well into the written word. But than I realized it was you I was replying to so.....
  15. Me too. I record everything. And with a DVR that can record 6 shows at the same time, I record too much. There are movies I recorded over a year ago still sitting on my DVR that I have yet to watch.
  16. You're right, it's odd that the captain would engage in reality show tomfoolery. Maybe he's taking a time out from having his picture taken with guests? Not that I doubted you but I had to look up why. Here's what I found, pretty interesting article. Apparently, more interesting than the show. https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/the-real-love-boat-rebecca-romijn-jerry-oconnor-ted-lange-jill-whelan-1235394123/ The bartender & cruise director are real too. And the CD met his future wife on a cruise ship. I guess Princess Cruise Lines really is The Love Boat.
  17. Dallas & Dukes were on CBS. Love Boat & Fantasy Island were ABC. I also think they were on different nights because I watched all 4 shows & I'm pretty sure we didn't have VCR at the time.
  18. Isn't the new Love Boat basically a *ahem* reality dating show? Basically nothing in common with the old show. It never occurred to watch it & I used to watch the old Love Boat show all the time. And Fantasy Island. Now that would make for a watchable dating show. Probabl would need to be on HBO.😄
  19. You are correct. The manager asked Ted if he wanted to sit to protect his .400 average. Technically, it was 3995 but they round up. Ted replied something to the affect of "I want more than my toenail on the line for 400". He went 6 for 8 in the double header & finished with a .406 average.
  20. I don't disagree with you. I think back then, players & managers had more integrity for the game. The old Joe Demaggio quote when asked why he always played so hard: "Because it might be some kid's first time seeing me play & they might never see it again". I can. Lol. I wonder what took them so long. 😉
  21. One more baseball post. Judge's 62nd HR ball worth two million dollars. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/34733763/auction-house-prepared-pay-2-million-aaron-judge-historic-hr-ball
  22. It was Buck Showwalters decision to sit McNeil in a meaningless game, to give him a 2 day rest, before the playoff grind starts. McNeil earned it. On July 30th, his batting average was .287 while Freeman was at .319. McNeil had to hit .378 for the rest of the season to get to the top. Would you level the same criticism @ Luis Arraez for denying Arron Judge a shot at the triple crown? Judge played 55 straight games while Arraez sat out 3 of the last 4 games, nursing a hamstring injury and protecting his lead. After he was assured of the batting title, he played and hit a double. Not bad for a guy with a hamstring injury.
