Actually, no. I tracked several cruises and several cabins. There is a very clear pattern. In fact, many people on this board have mentioned it. I also tracked few cruises by Oceania and Crystal. Price drops are very rare, and when they happen, they are no more than $100-200.

I'll say this. I've been price watching strongly for the last 3 months or so and so far, this statement holds up pretty well. Just my opinion from my observations.

  2. If you had told me a year ago today, that I would go on my first cruise in December and love it so much that I'd book another and be excited about seeing a ship return, I'd have laughed in your face. What a difference a year makes...

This  looks darker than the pic in post 295.......that one looked very barren and did not show  such dark paneling,  can't tell if that is a door or window ( most likely) behind the curved seating.

If they ever make a suite lounge elsewhere,  closer to the upstairs retreat deck, .this could be a great jazz club/ piano bar for everyone!

I was just picturing a jazz trio with piano for this space... It has potential.

I wasn't aware they had King Crab lunch on sea days.  I've never checked the menu.  But my wife loves King Crab and that sounds like a great way to end the cruise.

It was a flyer that was going around since the first sea day, so I planned accordingly. Price was only 25-30 per person and we got that BOGO. It was a great meal.  This was on the Infinity this passed December.

It is very likely that at some point during your cruise, you will be offered a special deal....might be your waiter but more likely the person sitting just outside the entrance to the buffet.  On the second, maybe third day strike up a conversation with them...and ask if there are any special deals.  More than likely, they will offer you $10/$15 off at one or more of the restaurants.  My approach is to suggest that if we could both dine for the price of one (BOGO), I'd  book.  They will either say "they can't do that", "we don't discount meals...that's policy" or they will make you a counter offer.  Generally, their first offer isn't a great deal, so I laugh and tell the guy/gal that I'll check back later in the cruise....really looking for a BOGO....and I do, the next day...."hey, could you do that BOGO today" or "can we make a better deal than yesterday.   It is a give take discussion...keep it light...but push for $30 at a $50 restaurant or BOGO....and you might just get it.  Or, of course, they won't do it....that's the chance that you take.  We don't really care so if we have a cruise without a specialty meal, that's fine.  Do not fall for the first day offers on meal packages, or minor specials the first and second day...unless you really do want to try a restaurant or you want a special day/time.  We have probably a 60-70% hit rate on at least 40% off.

    Enjoy your cruise.

I successfully negotiated a BOGO King Crab lunch on our final sea day in Tuscan Grill... If you're used to negotiating terms regularly, the people selling entry have no chance. Just my observation.

Many years ago back when Celebrity had 10 day roundtrip cruises out of Charleston and Jacksonville.

Wish X  would still offer these.

God I wish they would put a ship cruising out of Jacksonville!!! So much closer for me than south FLA. My driveway to jaxport 2 hours flat, less if I'm really pushing.

Hmmm, what part of GA do you live and what are the television and radio stations in the area?

It would be very, very, very difficult to miss cruise adverts unless you just do not listen or look at some of the major stations/programing.

Good for you if there is a limited market in your area...

No major newspapers, either, I guess...

We see them often, here in the NYC/PHL market, sometimes several a day.

    bon voyage

We are in extreme south GA, about 15 miles from crossing into Florida. Norwegian, RCCL and carnival advertise here and I sometimes see adverts for river cruises, but never Celebrity. When we got to South Florida for our cruise, I did hear plenty of adverts for Celebrity on the radio though and that was the first time ever.

  8. The reason I'm curious is that here in the US, I have never in my life seen an advertisement or commercial for Celebrity. Carnival, Norwegian, and RCCL advertise regularly though. I decided we were going to take our first cruise, so I started researching what line would suit us best.

I was really only looking at the previous 3 I mentioned, but as I was reading and watching videos I saw another line called Celebrity, so I started digging into who they were since I had never heard of it. Before long, after reading and researching I felt Celebrity clicked the most boxes for us so I booked our first cruise last fall and we cruised in December. I ended up loving it and never even saw any commercial or advertisement, Although I've spoken to friends in the UK who says Celebrity advertises heavily there.

I was speaking of the CS on the Solstice class ships.  The ones on the M class like Infinity ARE small....but at least they are there....originally those suites had no balcony at all.

The CS we are booked in is on the hump with a great sized balcony. I don't think I'm willing to give that up. I'm more than happy to try suites for the first time anyway. We were on Infinity in Aqua this passed December for our first cruise, so CS on Equinox should be more than sufficient. This suite addresses my only real gripes about our first cruise which were bathroom space and depth of balcony.

It really does depend on how much you enjoy the Luminae menu...We find it quite limited, as usual all about personal taste. However, agree service is always very good.

The other RS perks are also worth having and we do much prefer the RS room layout on S class compared to the CS...

Go for it! Enjoy life to the full....

It's only us two so the CS is just fine for size and our cabin has a huge balcony which the wife will love. The RS balconies left have long narrow balconies. I just don't know if the mini bar being complimentary and complimentary specialty dining is worth that much to us. I'm sure if I keep thinking about it I can find a way to justify it!!!

Is there anything else I'm not aware of as far as perks or other things in upping from a CS to a RS?

I can see us making use of this in September....We often dine early then enjoy a snack left by the butler late at night on the balcony, this offers another option.

We have only ever visited Sushi for an odd lunch. Thanks for the advice!

We are on the same cruise in a CS, but now I'm seriously considering upgrading to a RS to take advantage of the complimentary specialty dining, but it's hard to justify when we can eat most meals in Luminae...

Other than the Silk Harvest getting removed, there has been nothing at all from Celebrity that has suggested there are any dining changes. There is an IG pic that shows Tuscan has been stripped of it's furniture and fixtures, but that's to be expected.

Mods -- can chance of combining threads? There are currently 3 threads on the front page titled Equinox Revolution.

Which Instagram account? I dont use IG, but Id like to take a peek.

  13. We  are booked for our first Equinox cruise in September, so these changes really dont bother me as I have no point of reference to compare, but I will say this, Ive seen the decor and furniture in the suites on Summit and while it doesnt bother me, I like the way the decor is already in the suites.(From Youtube vids and pics) In my opinion it looks more premium than the minimalized look, But thats just my opinion from

Thanks!  I was thinking of rigging up some kind of reflective tape so we don't walk into it if we get up at night!  Looks like the one is 1403 is very close to the bed - which is really dumb.  But it looks like a nice location and a nice big room, so I'll have to think about it.  We are doing a Caribbean cruise.

That one post really close to the bed is what slowly started bothering me, but not enough to change. Once I saw 1233 CS for $800 more though I really had something to think about. Seeing that 1233 balcony sold me. The bed not having Oceanview is a con, but the sectional faces it and also that deep balcony is priceless. Deeper balcony was one thing I was disappointed in on my first cruise on Infinity in Aquaclass. This should rectify that gripe.

We have an S1- 1403 (deck 10) on the Equinox for a Caribbean cruise next spring. I just saw someone posted about this cabin in the S class cabin thread. They mentioned window washing equipment and a pole right by the bed (for pole dancing, perhaps? 😜). What’s up with that?  Is this common in the aft corner rooms?

We picked this one for the location (cabins above and below) and because it looked a bit bigger on the deck plans than some of the lower deck ones. We love an aft corner in general, but this will be our first Celebrity Cruise and first time in a cabin that is considered a suite.

We have been cruising with Viking and recently Azamara, so this was actually a bargain with some nice perks. I just hope the pole and window washing equipment won’t be an issue. Should I consider a different room?

Go to YouTube and search "Celebrity Equinox cabin 6305". You will see the poles! When I first booked the cabin, they were an afterthought, but after thinking more and seeing a deal, we moved to a CS.

  16. Well, I emailed my Celebrity rep and informed him of the request to move to the Celebrity Suite 1233. If anyones interested a corner aft sky suite just became available! Thanks for the guidance, suggestions and especially the pics of the balcony. Anyone looking for decent deals for Suites should check out the Equinox September 7-13 Sailing.

Hopefully this will work...this is from CS 1618, back side of the hump on Eclipse

Oh if this is equivalent to Equinox 1233 I'm SOLD. The wife will be ok losing the aft view for more lounging and breakfast on the balcony room. Love how deep it it. You can actually walk out a bit! Thanks for these pictures!

For $600 total I'd grab it.  Mind you, we are loyal to the corner S1 aft:  great view, size is just right, quiet (if you're not on deck 12 (immediately underneath OVC/Sunset Bar)), private entry foyer, and honestly we like the extra steps to the aft of the ship (gotta burn off all the Luminae desserts!).

You get 12 CC points/night in a CS vs. 8 with a SS, which is nice if you want the extra CC points.

I have a husband who likes to sleep in; a CS would be perfect but we've never encountered a $600 deal.  I know he would spring for it.

In the interim we are perfectly happy with S1 aft.  We stick to decks 11 and 10 when possible.  My parents once had a corner S1 on deck 6 (Silhouette) and said it seemed a bit smaller than the one they once had on deck 11.

I'd lay a wager vtcruising has the true square footage of each! :classic_wink:

1233 is on deck 10 so with cabins above and below it should be really quiet and relaxing. I really want the big Balcony for breakfast.

Also I was wrong on the additional cost by a couple hundred. It's actually $800 more total, but I still feel if I make the move it's worth it. I did however, place a courtesy hold on the cabin while I contemplate and weigh the pros and cons. Plus I need to make sure the wife is OK with giving up the aft view for a little more balcony space and inside bedroom.

I love corner aft Sky Suites but it's my understanding that those on deck 6 have TINY balconies. ChicagoPaul posted a picture of a deck chair crammed sideways because the deck was too narrow for the chair to face aft.  No way would I book deck 6.

There's a video on YouTube of the exact cabin 6305 that we have booked and the balcony does look quite narrow, although long. Although for that time of the year I think the covered CS may be a good bet. I'm trying to understand if 1233 has a longer balcony, deeper, or both.

Would 1233 on Eclipse be close to the same balcony as 1233 on Equinox?

I've been in both (not on deck 6 S1 though) and there are advantages to  both. Both are wonderful, though we have leaned toward the S1's as the prices have gone up.  This is the way I would look at it:

    S1 aft:

    positives:

-larger balcony that wraps around to the side - more sun, though with some overhang for protection

-the amazing wake view - wide and unobstructed

    -quieter area of ship (usually)

-porthole window on side with a couch next to it - very nice spot to relax (and you can actually sit in the porthole window as well)

    -view of ocean from bed

    -cost

    negatives:

    -long walk to everything

-in one big room (doesn't have separate bedroom or curtain to divide areas)

    -less storage space

    CS:

    positives:

-"upper level" suite, as compared to Sky Suites, in that shore concierge will call you pre-cruise to take your requests and may be more likely to get special invitations to events onboard

    -separate bedroom

    -more closet/storage space

-2 doors to bathroom so that if someone is sleeping in bedroom, the other can go in from LR (otherwise no advantage to bathroom, IMO)

-large L-shaped couch and large coffee table is nice for entertaining guests, if desired

    negatives:

-bedroom doesn't overlook ocean (does have a "window" to LR to let in light)

-somewhat smaller balcony, though has better seating (nice padded lounger and good-sized table)

-balcony view only to one side of ship with overhang - less sun

    -cost

1233 looks like it's on the hump, so the balcony and seating area should be ample. Just not sure I want to give up that prime corner location for a step up. The difference in cost as it stands right is about $600 total and for that amount I'm REALLY considering it.
