  1. Captain waited more than four hours on two passengers. Medical issue popped up as we were casting off lines.
  2. Perhaps the slow to return passengers wound up saving life of person that left in ambulance. I doubt we would have pulled back in to take them off had we left a few hours earlier.
  3. Medical emergency onboard, not with pilot….
  4. Due to medical emergency, lost our pilot. Now scheduled for 8pm local.
  5. I think so, I’ll look again as we depart.
  6. I think the protocol for when a ship departs early is different than when you fail to return on time for scheduled departure. if ship was in imminent danger, Captain may have had to consider leaving many behind. I’m just happy we were not in Ashdod when this started - rockets were flying overhead there….
  7. Are you on the Nieuw Statendam ? Just confirmed with a ships officer, sea day, Alayna Turkey - then normal schedule…
  8. N. Statendam arrived this morning in Haifa for what was a two day visit followed by a day in Ashdod, Israel. Tour departed early this AM. We were on tour of Galilee region at Jordan River when we were all recalled to the ship. Awaiting last passengers to return so we can depart for sea as soon as possible. Three days in Holy Land has become three hours. So many on this cruise picked this itinerary for Israel. Obviously this is beyond HALs control. Captain just informed us that we are sailing in a few hours..at sea tomorrow followed by a stop in Analya Turkey on Monday, then back to our scheduled stop in Cyprus on Tuesday.
  9. More fish equals better. Fresher fish equals better Locally sourced usually equals better. HAL in right direction on this.
  10. With the exception of the Voyage of the Vikings and a one off from NYC here and there, don't expect HAL to sail from mid-Atlantic ports. The demographic in Florida provides a large customer base to draw upon. That includes US Citizens as well as Canadian snowbirds and others. I do trust that HAL's marketing team runs these numbers. Sailings from Tampa, pre-Covid were nice as it was a change from FLL. Much prefer (by several orders of magnitude) FLL over MIA.
  11. Highly recommend the Southern TA instead US West Coast to Australia. Both pools get a workout when you aren't on a great beach somewhere!
  12. If you cruise at least 14 days a year, the stock buy is a no brainer at today's price of about $15 as share.
  13. It depends on how HIA is added. I wound up adding HIA to a cruise that had been booked without it. It was $50 a day per person, including the third person. But, only persons 1 and 2 got included wifi??? Person 3 got the SHOREX Credit, Dining, and drinks etc.
  14. Yet, there are many of us that are happy with HAL today. Change happens in every industry and this forum provides and opportunity for people to express their feelings. It seems every day I read a post about how grand and wonderful PRINSENDAM was, and how the Pinnacle Class is horrible....etc. My recent hotel stays ashore in several countries tell me the whole industry has changed. It appears ships are sailing close to or at capacity. Maybe HAL is working its way back to the new normal. I have six cruises booked in coming 24 months. I am happy. I would not be happy to pay twice the price on Oceania. Note: I sail in standard verandah cabins.
  15. If it's the SEP 25 Nieuw Statendam, see you all onboard.
  16. While the $1 deposit looks nice. It's no value compared to booking onboard for many cases. A two week cruise booked onboard nets $400 a cabin in OBC. Granted you have to tie up $200 in deposits, but it's refundable deposit in most cases.
  17. Looks like HAL is running the $1 Deposit deal again. Expires 12 SEP 2023. I wonder what percentage of these turn into fully paid cruises?
  18. Ocean Bar pre-dinner for MDR. Pinnacle Bar for pre-dinner at Pinnacle Grill. Tamarind Lounge (Silk Den) for Pre- Tamarind. Assuming your ship has Tamarind. Ocean Bar for a beer if you are having Pizza from NY Pizza !
  19. Others have said the same thing, but I am glad you returned to cruising. That was a very unfortunate incident, and thank God of the more than 4,000 souls aboard more didn't perish than sadly did. I do believe that the HAL officers are very professional and take their jobs seriously. I have had good conversations with ship's senior officers and feel they are superb mariners.
  20. The Shareholder OBC is a non-brainer for anyone who cruises 14 or more days per year. At today's price of around $16 a share, that $1,600 investment will return $250 a year, thats more than a 15% return (tax free** I might add. Sure the stock could lose part of or all its value. But then again, we could make money along the way. I expect to receive over $700 in OBC from this nice benefit this year. This along with Military OBC, and now AAARP OBC, keep me loyal to HAL. And then there is free laundry for 4 Stars...... ** The IRS will likely go after us for the $250 since I wrote this....
  21. I regret that we don't seem to travel as light! We have too many clothes, but they are clean!
  22. Great to know that HAL credit applies to our great allies to the north and across the pond! I do hope they extend same to our great Australian allies as well!
