  1. Wouldn't be surprised to see RCI close down Azamara because of its 3 old ships that may not be allowed in some ports because they don't meet environmental regulations that may be imposed. Upgrading would be very expensive and be something cruise lines don't have funds for right now. What do you think?
  2. Son laid off today and dil laid off last week. Thankful he has 90 days severance. Hope cruising returns and they can be rehired!! Praying for all those who lose jobs
  3. On our Volendam Amazon River cruise in Nov-Dec 2019 there were 2 Cellar Master dinners -1 in Pinnacle and 1 in Cannaleto. We and friends attended Pinnacle -- very good. Friends also did the Canaletto Cellar Master dinner with Italian cuisine. They enjoyed it!
  4. We did HAL tour out of Napier to the Maori site of the ancients. Very enjoyable hearing the history and taking part in their ceremonies. Think you would enjoy if interested in Maori culture.
  5. Excited to be following your world cruise blog again. Someday hope to join you on one of these adventures!!
  6. No wrist band for me either! Prefer lanyard that I can slip inside shirt when off ship yet still have with me. As for needing card for light slot - we just throw old HAL cabin card in suitcase and use it - as long as it has magnetized strip it will work. Also works for cabin safe if safe is not one that you input a code to open.
  7. Hope you enjoy your Volendam cruise - just completed the Amazon cruise and would love to be joining you in the Antarctic. It is an amazing place!! Hope you can let us know what the new cooking class perk will be!
  8. Disappointed that the 5* benefit for ATK changed from allowing people to take part in cooking and then sharing a meal in the Pinnacle grill. That was a fun experience. Now the benefit is just another demo with fewer people and it was the same demo that had been on cruise previously. Wish they would bring back the cooking opportunity with a ship chef!
  9. Straws were available on Volemdam in the coffee bar, lido bar and ocean bar, but we had to ask for them.
  10. Tim and Angela -- enjoying catching up on your posts of all the ports we visited! Wish we were still with you esp. as we return to rainy cold Seattle! Dave and Barbara
  11. Made to order sandwiches were quite popular on recent Volendam Amazon cruise. Enjoyed that I could tell the server exactly what I wanted!
  12. Sailing next week - looking forward to seeing the changes!
  13. I have enjoyed following your blogs. We are on this cruise too - so look forward to meeting you as well as following the blog!
  14. We have done red eye direct from Seattle to Ft. Lauderdale. Has worked well but arrived very early and had time to kill before heading to the pier. Would not try if it were not a direct flight!!
  15. Have been on Zaandam twice to Antarctica - 2014 and 2018. (Veendam in 2010) Zaandam was in fine condition on those cruises. We had wonderful time with no onboard problems.
