  1. Eh, you're not really rich until you buy a Ferrari that ISN'T red.
  2. OK, I have to share this headline from today's Post: "With mustard scarce, dogged France will relish the day it can play catch-up" Some editor cackled while writing that. I mean, that's a thing of beauty.
  3. So this hit my inbox and made me blink for a second. Kenneth, join us for an exclusive dinner under the Endeavour It's dinner under the suspended space shuttle Endeavour at the California Science Center. Kind of cool.
  4. Great, thanks for the strong endorsement. I'm keeping my booking and waitlists.
  5. Bryan, To be serious for a moment, is there anything like the Avenue Saloon in the late hours on SS? I'm not trying to recreate the Crystal experience but I did spend many dissolute hours there and would like to approximate that entertainment in future. Also, I too remember his name as Monet, but it was in a bar and...you know. Anyway I once pointed out to him that he could body (and face) double a younger Clive Owen. Finally, I made Kansas City style baked beans in the pressure cooker tonight. Semi-winged the recipe. They were so good, I may have to reopen the Chez.
  6. Hi, Crystal refugee here, would really appreciate experiences of RSS veterans who have sailed on any RSS ships right at or soon after their maiden voyage. I just booked a Caribbean cruise on Grandeur in early 2024, and waitlisted the two Panama Canal cruises immediately before. At the time I was just thinking "that's way out in 2024," and didn't appreciate the specifics of when Grandeur is scheduled to set sail. I now realize that I could be stepping on board a ship that's been sailing for as few as 21 days, something my rather cautious self would usually avoid. If anyone has experience with how well RSS handles new ship rollouts, I would very much appreciate your insights. Also, excited to try Regent. Looks like great fun.
  7. You can tell by the way I use my walk I'm a woman's man, no time for talk.... Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah Stayin' Aliiiiiiiiiiiive
  8. Oh, pls put me on the list. I like a lot about SS, but fear they tend to roll up the side walks after the main production show. Love to be wrong.
  9. Total noob question: On the RSSC deck plans, some cabins have stars and some have dots. Some have both. For the life of me, I haven't found the legend as to what they mean. Can someone help me out? Thanks!
  10. Vince, This one written especially with you in mind. We had dinner last night at the reopened and reimagined Pineapple and Pearls. (Pre-pandemic, our favorite special event restaurant in the DMV.) Oh. My. Gosh. To die for x3, Why x3? Because there's three ways you think you're going to swoon: "Oh this food, oh the fun we're having, OH, this check!" Looks like we're enjoying Hamburger Helper for awhile. I have no regrets.
  11. As someone right at the tipping point of booking their first RSS cruise, this thread has been invaluable. My thanks, Mr Roller.
  12. Trivia time: Without searching on it, does this apparently anodyne quote mean anything to you? "The clock is operating."
  13. Fun fact: I'm still rocking an iPhone 6. At this point, I'm doing it mostly to spite the ghost of Steve Jobs.
  14. OK, this is waaay off-off topic, but now we're looking at Regent. When you're semi-budget cruisers like we are, this is not the fun "oh just try them all" buffet that some can indulge. I am reminded of an anecdote from my college days. A guy in one of my IT classes remarked "we need a course called three-to-five years experience," because every job listing asks for that. "Why yes, I have three to five years experience." In that same sense, I really wish my next five figure first cruise bet on another line was my second.
  15. Mother Nature gave us the tuber as partial reward for enduring the burdens of life (well, that and bourbon.) I celebrate this precious gift often and in quantity. (But not with the bourbon. Moderation in all things.)
  16. If you're going to lay it on this thick, you might as well tell us you demanded Trident open up to make you some fries.
  17. Looking at a cruise on Silver Dawn, specifically in a silver suite. Is there any preference between decks 9, 10, 11?
