  1. We leave one week from today on a 7 night on the Majesty. This is my first RCI cruise. So far the only activity showing up in the app is a sushi making class every night. And for the main dining it looks like there’s pretty normal menus for nights one through three, but nights four and five are only showing the vegan menu, and nights six and seven are saying “venue closed.”  It’s been that way for over a week.

  2. Is anyone back from any of the New Orleans sailings on the Majesty out of NOLA yet this year? I would be forever indebted it if anyone had copies of the daily schedules and/or dining room menus by night. I am especially interested in figuring out which nights are formal nights, and which nights have lobster or good steak (if any).

I am on the February 8 sailing and already losing my mind trying to figure out what to pack. I’ve learned how to pack for hot weather cruises and I’ve learned how to pack for cool weather cruises but this kind of in between that we will have in the Bahamas in February is driving me nuts. LOL.

    Thanks!

  3. For me it really varies with the cruise (# port days, warm or cool weather), cruise line, cost of package, and inclusions.  On NCL, I would never ever consider paying. It doesn’t include bottled water or specialty coffee, and no way can I drink $99 plus tips per day. However, paying just the tips on their “free” drinks makes sense...that’s just a few drinks.

For my upcoming RCCL cruise, we decided it was worth it. 7 days, warm weather, only three ports (one of which is Coco Cay), and got it for $48 plus tips per day. With coffee and water included, we figure 2 coffees @ $5, 2 waters @ $5, a glass or two of wine with dinner @ $10, and a few cocktails @$12 is the minimum  we would buy, so it was worth it.  And we would have bought at least the soda package, so there’s more $ per day as well.

I drink a lot less without it, but it’s not to the detriment of enjoying the cruise.

  4. On a Disney ship many years ago they offered walk-up short chair massages during one or two short times early in the cruise for a really low price...it was a “teaser” to get people to book other spa treatments.  But I’ve never seen chair massage offered as a regular service you could book.

  5. We sailed from New York up to Halifax. We were on the port side and other than one lighthouse off in the distance coming into one of the ports there wasn’t really anything to see. I don’t know if starboard side would’ve been different. On our cruise it seemed that the trip north was a little closer to shore so starboard side might have seen something. The trip back down to New York we swung  further out from the shore so there was nothing to see.

  6. To OP and those who agree or made similar points...just curious if you’ve ever cruised on the Escape? All of these descriptions sound very much like the Escape as well. I’d be interested in your comparisons.

We have a Joy cruise booked next year and were hoping that some of the issues, especially with the crowded venues and finding space on sundecks, would be a little less of an issue on the Joy.

As far as food on the Escape, we really like the specialties, think the main dining rooms are passable to good, and don’t care for the buffet.

I wish there was more activity on this or any other RCCL Nassau excursion thread.  We have that horrible 2 p.m. arrival time at Nassau, and RCCL still hasn’t loaded any excursion options for us on their site.  I know we have a long time before our cruise, but I sure would like to have an idea of what’s available for us after 2 p.m.

I’m also on a RCCL cruise in Feb with that horrible 2:00 pm time.  There’s not a lot in the RCCL excursions. Anything that’s a beach day is out. There are a few water-based things like speed boat ride and things that that are 30 to 60 minutes and a few other things that just don’t interest me. Have no idea what we’re going to do that day. Probably walk around near the port and maybe go to the queen staircase during daylight hours and then may even just get back on the ship by five when it seems like everything except the nightlife is closing down. Don’t know if we’ll feel safe after dark on our own. (Two single women.)

Log into NCL's Photo website at www.NCLPhotos.com

You should be able to set up an account and access your pictures from there.

Thanks for the link.  I was able to find my pictures there but that still doesn’t give me access to re-download the digital copies. It only gives me the opportunity to purchase them again. However I did use the contact us link on that page so hopefully I can get an answer from them sooner than from Norwegian customer service.

  9. Hi.   We were on the escape back in September. We purchased a photo package that included the digital copies of the purchased pictures. I’ve been working on a photo book as a gift to my travel companions and the last element I was going to put in where the ship photos. I went to the flash drive and while all the purchased photos have an associated file none of the photos are fully downloaded onto the flash drive. It’s as if they stopped the copy process midway through.

I have tried to call the main customer service number and after getting through all the voice prompts I get to where it tells me to stay on the line for an operator and then a recording comes on and tells me to go online and submit a case. Then it hangs up. So I did go online and submit a case but it says they’ll get back to me in 4 to 6 weeks. Of course that’s too late for what I’m trying to do.

Any ideas or other phone numbers that you know of?

  10. I just downloaded the app for my first Royal Caribbean cruise. I booked the cruise my time dining was not available. I requested to be waitlisted for it via travel agent.  The app has a “block” that says My Time Dining and “dining details available after boarding.” It it. Feb 8 Majesty of the Seas that we didn’t book until the middle of Oct.

Does that mean we got it?!

  11. We have a stop at Nassau on February 8. I didn’t realize when I booked the cruise the horrible hours for this port. My mistake.

Looking for suggestions on what to do. Seems like any sort of a beach day is pretty much out.  Given the hours the available excursions are pretty limited too.  Blue Lagoon had been at the top of my list. Also looks like pretty much everything besides bars and restaurants is closed by five. So I’m figuring out the best will have a couple of hours to see anything. Definitely interested in the Queens staircase. How would you spend your few hours?

Also is it safe for two ladies (50-ish) to be walking around on their own after dark or would we be best to just spend the evening on the ship?

    Thanks!

  12. We have been on the Escape twice. For our next planned a cruise both the Escape and the Joy are sailing the exact same itinerary on dates that will work (Jan 2021.) There is no real price difference. What are some of the key differences and which of the two would you pick? I know the Joy doesn’t have a thermal spa but that’s not a big deal to us. We don’t care about the rock climbing, zip lining, ropes course, waterslides, go carts, etc. We are a group of six ladies ages 50 to 80 (me, my sisters, our mom, and her sisters.) What we want most are quiet areas to sit and enjoy each other’s company and the sunshine and some good entertainment (and don’t really care for the Escape’s offerings of After Midnight and Choir of Man.)

  13. I can’t wait for the chance to do a solo. When I was younger I did two where I may as well have been solo since they were myself and my then 17/18-year-old son. He ran off to the teen club as soon as we boarded and I didn’t really see him much until we disembarked.

I thoroughly enjoyed those cruises. As others have said keeping to your own schedule is wonderful. It also really gave me the opportunity to meet a lot of great people and have a lot of wonderful conversations.

On my most recent cruise there was a lot of solos on the cruise critic roll call that I would have loved to of been able to meet and get to know, but since I was on a large family trip but I wasn’t able to do that.   I’m hoping to snag a last minute cruise this spring when the low price makes the single supplement palatable.

If you are just looking for a regular coke or something you may find a bartender willing to fill your 32oz cup using the gun. You would just need your seapass card then. I have no idea if they would do that, as I have never tried, but it may work.

Would love that option, but I’m picky. I want caffeine free sugar free soda and the bars usually have only Coke, Diet Coke, and sprite. That’s why I am so excited to sail Caribbean with the freestyle machines. On my recent Norwegian Cruise I was relegated to water at night. Yuck!

  15. Thanks all...sounds like “a la Disney resorts.”  Their cups hardly hold anything and have a wait time built in as well.  Hopefully the 20 ounce measurement is about right...I’ll  bring a 32+ounce of my own to pout into and plan I may have to wait for the second fill.

  16. Hi.   I’m getting ready for my first cruise on Royal coming up in February.

I have searched and can’t find that anyone’s ever asked this. Can anyone tell me how much the soda cup provided with a drink package holds in terms of ounces? Debating if I want to bring a larger reusable cup to pour into so I don’t have to go back to the machine as often. I can go through a lot of soda between the time I head back to my state room for the evening and the time I go to sleep.

I understand there’s a new cup rolling out. Is that fleet wide yet,  or do I need to know the capacity of both styles to be prepared? Will be on the majesty of the seas if that matters.
