  1. Your second option is what I want ....to buy the package and have the photo shop divide the bill 3 ways, 1/3 to each cabin.  Just wanting to confirm that they will actually split it and bill to 3 different staterooms.

We don’t tend to spend much on the ship outside of Photos and have extra OBC from our travel agent because there was a problem on our last cruise so we’re getting extra this time (as in$100 per cabin never showed up at NCL!)

Last time we ended up with very little OBC so we just charged the photos to one room and paid each other back.  But with so much OBC this time, we want to use a good chunk for pics.

  2. We are sailing on the Escape with a group of 6 in three cabins. We want to go in together to buy a photo package and would like to use OBC to do it.  Does anyone know if they will let us make a single purchase on board splitting the charge to multiple cabins? Or is there any other way to combine OBC’s or transfer OBC from one cabin to another?

  3. I booked for six when reservations first opened up.  We are on 9/15/19 Escape. But I recently tried to change nights and could only get 2 or 4, except one night had 8.  Now I actually need to change to 2 and send the other 4 to Bayamo, but now can’t get that. Hoping we can make changes on board.

NCL charges about $40 p/p one-way for airport transfer to LGA/JFK, typically for domestic flights after 1 p.m. - that's $240 for 6 rides sharing the bus along with others, and of course, luggage.

To make a long story short, we recommend - active on the East Coast forum - to arrive at LGA 90 minutes to 2 hours prior to scheduled departure, as while it might take only 30 to 60 minutes to reach the exit(s) for the airport, there are up to 4 terminal stops - and that loop can take easily an extra 15 to 30 minutes, easily up to 1 hour if traffic inside the airport service roadways are congested - across all 3 lanes merging forward, bumper-to-bumper.

With luggage & headcounts, you will NOT fit all into a single car service's minivan, which can take 4 to 5 plus reasonable/generous luggage - so it's either taking 2 yellow taxi (metered fare) or car service (4 door sedans - 3 & 3 each plus luggage).  Your cost per vehicle should run no higher than $65 to $75, probably a little less - no need to wait for anyone else to share the bus ride and making extra stops - and, unlike buses ... more options in optimal routes to get to LGA faster/easier.  Money saved is good enough for a decent lunch at airport concession - the new LGA terminals are getting nicer everyday and WiFi is free for all, while you sit back & wait.

Thanks. Using two cars with the car service was my original plan but just getting scared about the congestion at the port and not knowing what time to tell them to pick us up. They all seem to have extra charges for waiting time. I was thinking the transfer might be easier. Even though it was more expensive.

  5. We are on the Escape, scheduled to arrive back in NYC at 7:00 am on Sept 22.  Just for ease I am considering doing the NCL transfer to get back to LaGuardia instead of a car service.  Since there are six of us it won’t be much more expensive than a car service.

Can anyone tell me what time we would have to be off the ship by in order to use that service? We typically like to be among the last to get off the ship and our flight is not until 3 o’clock.

  6. Hi. We are a group of six flying into LGA the day before our cruise and staying in a Manhattan hotel (Marriott upper east side).  We chose that location to be near my niece is a nephews that live there so we can visit with them the evening before the cruise. We are cruising out of the Manhattan port. So we will need transportation from LaGuardia to the hotel, then from the hotel to the port, and then from the port back to LaGuardia.  The cruise is a Sunday to Sunday September 15-22.

I am looking at both Carmel and Dial 7.  Or are there others you all might suggest.  Do you like one better than the other? I am also thinking we might be better off taking two SUVs than one large van from a pricing perspective since we will all have luggage. But a little concerned that it might be harder to meet two vehicles especially at LaGuardia.  Our group is 3 relatively experienced travelers, two of whom do have experience with LaGuardia, and three elderly ladies.

    Thanks!

Something that may matter to people.... specialty coffees (espresso, cappuccino, etc) are available ONLY in the dining room

WOW! That’s a game changer for me. Thanks for the heads up. At least I no longer have to make a decision as to whether or not this package is worth it. The coffee was what might’ve bumped it  up to being worth it for me. But dining room only is of no value to me.

  8.  I think they also try to make their best guess based on what passenger information they have. For example when I traveled with my husband they were set up as a queen. When I traveled with my son they are already set up as twins. Guessing maybe they saw a female and a male and such distinctly different ages they assumed it was a parent & child (he was only 18).

So I would love to know what wines with dinner are included in the upgraded package.  I'm not a big wine drinker but I do enjoy Moscato.

On my last cruise in 2017 on the Escape the Moscato was very good, and included in the standard package. Our group of 6 would go thru several bottles over dinner (poured a glass at a time.). It was Lindemans Bin 90. We loved it so much we got a local liquor store to special order it for us and now keep ourselves stocked with it. And it’s pretty cheap... under $10. Hoping they are pouring the same one this time.

  10. Hi all. I’m new to this board but not new to cruising. I’ve taken several Disney cruises and one Norwegian with another Norwegian on the books. However I have a unique situation and I need to figure out what ship might offer the most. I don’t have any real care about destination or cruise line.

I have a young adult son who has Down Syndrome. He is begging me to take him on another cruise. However his memories are from a Disney cruise when he was young enough to go into the kids clubs and had an absolute blast. Of course now that he’s in his 20s the kids clubs will not be available to him.

So what ship has the most activities that a child/teenager would like that aren’t part of the kids clubs? I know every ship has one or two cool things but what ship has the most to offer to keep somebody busy who has no interest in sitting on the Lido deck with an alcoholic beverage and a book? (My preferred way to spend a day!). He also doesn’t do crowds well so probably wouldn’t be a lot of pool time. He won’t be interested in comedy clubs and things like that. He does enjoy the main shows but still need to find activities for all day long. I can keep myself busy with various seminars, tours, spa, etc., etc. But none of those things interest him. I basically need to entertain somebody with the interests of an average 12 to 15-year-old without use of kids clubs or pools.

    Thanks!
