Be aware that if you don't need pre-existing conditions covered, or Cancel For Any Reason, you don't HAVE to cover the costs of the entire trip to receive medical coverage and evacuation coverage.

I insure my trips for $500 per person and I only pay about $35 for insurance.

I can eat the cost of the cruise if need be. I can't absorb the costs of medical and/or evac.

Who do you go thru?   I am with you that my biggest concern would be medical expenses. My credit card will cover the cost of the cruise but not the medical expenses.

  2. Thank you for this review and your BEAUTIFUL pictures.  Your review has made me much more excited for my upcoming cruise. I’ve sailed three times on the Disney Magic and twice on the Norwegian Escape. Loved the former hated the latter. I think the Majesty is going to feel much more like the Disney Magic did.  I think I definitely like the smaller ships.

Now my only concern is if we’re going to be disappointed that it’s not going to be quite as warm as we might like in the Bahamas in February.

Starboard side of Deck 7, Deck 11, and Deck 12, and also the middle of Deck 12 where the tables are in front of the Sky/Mast Bar.

Not sure why the entire Sky Bar area is dedicated to smokers when only about 25% or less of passengers smoke, but it is.

On SB decks 7, 11, and 12 is smoking allowed the length of the deck, or just in certain areas? If not the entire length do you remember what area is? Forward, mid, aft?

    Thanks!

  4. Does anyone have any insight into how often Bar Harbor is missed due to seas being too rough to tender? I assume this week will be dicey at best but I’m more interested in when there is nothing unusual like a hurricane happening.

  5. From my experience with radiation, you’ll likely be tired. But a cruise might be the perfect R&R.  I’d just make sure someone can help with luggage handling. I think I’d go if it was me. The main thing my radiation oncologist said in the last few weeks of treatment and first several weeks after was to take it easy and not push too hard. I can’t think of a better way to take it easy than on a cruise.

Thanks...I had found this, but was hoping to get more specific locations.

  7. Hi all.  I am looking at potentially booking a cruise on one of these three ships. I’ll be traveling with my BFF who is a smoker.   Can anyone provide any information on exactly where the smoking areas are? If possible I’d like to try to book a state room that’s relatively close so it’s an easy jaunt up/down steps and outside for her to have a smoke before bed or something like that.  Also, are any of the smoking areas arranged in such a way that it’s a nice and not terribly crowded place to sit and relax with a drink?  If you failed more than one of the ships as the smoker is any one a little more accommodating than another?

    TIA!

    Hi!

Someone  know where is the bed? Near balcony or the door?

    THanks!

We had 11854, 856, and 858 a few years ago.  I was in 856 and my sisters were in 854. I’m almost positive 854 was by the door. 856 was by the balcony.  We are in 11856, 858, and 860 for Sept 15 coming up.

edit:  I asked them and they said that the beds were by the balcony.

This is probably allowed since both Cannes and Rome are EU ports, so no immigration processes are required.

Just an FYI, the reason they do not allow this in the US is due to the PVSA, as noted above by don't-use-real-name.

Here is what Wikipedia says about that:

"In accordance with this law, cruise lines that operate foreign-flagged vessels are fined $778 for each passenger who boarded such a vessel in one U.S. port and left the vessel at another port. The cruise lines typically pass this cost on the passengers who "jump the ship". Exemptions are available in the case of family emergencies etc."

That was my first thought...the Schengen Agreement since all ports involved are part of the EU ( I am assuming the cruise in question does not have any ports outside of the Schengen area .)

If it is anything like the weather we had last September on our Getaway cruise, it will be awesome.  The weather that trip was amazing and the seas smooth as could be.  The only t-storm I saw was the one below, on our last sea day, passing by Cuba!

Hope you get another Haven cabin!!

Even though there is a party you will find that only a small % of people who dress in costumes for Halloween. Most will not.

Agreed. There were a lot of folks in costume that evening , but no where near the majority. That said, we didn’t attend the party so there may have been a higher percentage there. We were usually our cabins for the night by 10.

  12. Hi.  I am contemplating a Cruise on the Divina and my traveling companion is a smoker. Can anyone tell me precisely where the smoking areas are so that I can attempt to book a state room as convenient to one as possible?

    Thanks

Are you able to download the pictures anywhere, or is it only prints?  We like to take some family pictures, but like to have them done in canvas.  Also, how difficult is it to take the actual prints home when you have to fly home with suitcases stuffed to the gills?

When we were on the escape in October 2017 and bought a package of I believe 10 photos, we also got a flash drive with digital copies of the same ones we purchased. To fly home we just very carefully packed the folder of them hoping they didn’t get crushed and they did make it home successfully.

We are booked on the 4 hour Oli's Trolley Tour in October.  It looks like it is a short walk from the pier. (I put Cruise Ship Dock int Google Maps and it came back as Town Pier - I hope that is right.)  We booked the 9:30 AM Tour.  Check-in is at 9:00 AM.  Our ship arrives at 7:00 AM.  I figure that will give us plenty of time to tender and get to the meeting site.

Is there a place near the trolley where we can pick up a snack to carry on the tour?

If I recall what I read, Oli’s has snacks available for purchase at their location
