  1. We're on the ship soon, and in our last e-mail from Princess a couple of weeks ago, after reminding us about shore excursions and mentioning ship entertainment and other things about the ship, there was at the end of the e-mail a "Park 19 Update" saying simply that "we regret to inform you that the Roller Glider, Coastal Climb and Ropes Course will not be opening." That was the first official mention I have seen about the not opening, and that didn't expand to see "not opening ever" or "not opening on your cruise". Just not opening full stop!
  2. Thanks. Coming from the UK we won't have our medallions, but it sounds like passports will be enough.
  3. Sorry to resurrect old thread, but I don't think this question was answered, and I have the same issue. My booking is for myself and my son in the same room. I have the app on my phone, and this shows luggage tags for both of us, but only a boarding pass for me and not my son. Is that going to be an issue, or have I missed an answer to this somewhere?!
  4. I saw a YouTuber yesterday say that the restaurants will be moving around. Rudi's and Dario's moving from the buffet area into their own restaurants, and Crown Grill moving into the American Diner. I don't know if this is part of the October changes, or if that means that the American Diner is going.
  5. I agree about the compensation, but I don't think there's been an actual announcement or anything formal from Princess relayed to passengers yet!
  6. And as we know, Princess haven't informed anyone about the new age policy for the Dome/sea view areas, or about the removal of the Park 19 completely, its all just word being passed around on forums and facebook! If I didn't visit this forum, then I would turn up for my cruise, expecting to visit the Dome/sea view areas and also Park 19! I pity guest services, who presumably will be getting visits and flack from cruise guests who don't know these things in advance.
  7. I get your point. Do Princess ships normally have an adults only area? Agreed that it's not a major issue, as we still have the main pool area and the wake view pool. It would be nice though to visit the sea view area, as it looks relaxing. Is the dome itself adults only too, during the day?
  8. Yes, we have 2 rooms, with one adult and one child in each. Logistically that's the only way that works for us. So yes, that's our choice. The point still stands though, they've paid the same, so should be able to go to the same places. Its not like the Sanctuary, where you pay extra to go there.
  9. If you do try, please report back on the volume of disapproving looks you get from the older crowd!
  10. We're on the Sun next month. My 2 kids are 12 and 14 and are pretty quiet as kids go. They cost us the same adult price as we paid for this cruise and the dome/sea view area being 16 plus has never been mentioned until recently. So I think Princess has a bit of a nerve if they try and enforce this on us!
  11. https://cruisebusiness.com/index.php/news-section/more-news-category/10838-princess-cruises-statement-on-sun-princess-park19 Princess Cruises has announced the following statement: "We regret to announce that Princess is unable to accept delivery of the RollGlider, Coastal Climb, and Ropes Course features within Park19 aboard Sun Princess and those experiences will not be opening. We are actively evaluating these areas for future recreational opportunities to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all our guests." published today I think
  12. Per cruisemapper, this is Santorini's schedule for 13 August: Silversea Cruises Silver Whisper 08:00 22:00 MSC Cruises MSC Divina 08:00 18:00 Princess Cruises Sun Princess 09:00 22:00 Royal Caribbean Cruises Odyssey Of The Seas 13:00 23:00
  13. We're on the Sun Princess in a little over 3 weeks. It is scheduled to stop at Santorini on 13th August. Cruisemapper is confirming this, it looks like its the first time the Sun will have stopped there in a while. We have a Princess excursion booked there, I've never been before, so I'm looking forward to it. The Sun Princess facebook group is still getting a number of posts suggesting they have heard that it won't be stopping in Santorini this year, which is worrying me. I am naively thinking that if they are going to move the 13th August stop there, then they would have done it already!
  14. Exactly the same for me. Couldn't book on the App without being charged, so used the webchat on the Princess website, was e-mailed a form after a few days, and received the money back into my bank account (even before the credit card was due for payment).
  15. I've read some people that have been on the Sun say that the sushi restaurant does have a lunchtime casual dining menu, and I've also read some people saying that O'Malleys will be opening for lunch as well as dinner. I've also read some people saying that isn't the case! Could someone who has been on the Sun recently please confirm either way.
  16. Thanks for the heads up! Just booked dining for our August cruise. Although it did charge me, even though we have the Premier package, so that's something to be sorted.
  17. Thanks, that's what I thought. The guy above who posted "The first night we tried deck 6 and the lines were long" confused me into thinking that deck 6 dining was an option for choosing ad hoc.
  18. I'm also not sure as to how deck 6 dining works. i.e. do you have to commit to one of the deck 6 sittings for the entire cruise? Or, if one day the time that you want to dine just so happens to coincide with one of deck 6 sitting times, is it possible (or easier) to then go to 6 instead of 7?
  19. Thanks for the useful reply. I agree with you about the YouTubers. This was a well known reviewer, who was giving a helpful tips video, after being on a Sun Princess cruise. It must be because the Sun Princess is new and unknown, but I don't think I've ever watched so many videos and read so many reviews before a holiday!! I have to stop, or they'll be no surprise element left! I sometimes imagine a cruise ship being just full of YouTubers walking around filming, with no "normal" other guests!!
  20. That's useful to know. We're too far out at the moment to book specialty restaurants (booked on Sun Princess in August 😃), but I was slightly concerned when I watched a YouTube reviewer the other day, who said that, if you pre book specialty restaurants on the App, then you have to pay for them at the time (even if they are covered by your Premier Package), and then go to guest services once onboard to have them refunded. That would be annoying for 2 reasons: having to pay for them, then having to take the time to queue up at guest services for the refund. That would be wonderful if what she said wasn't correct!
  21. Thanks, looks good! Does anyone know if the set meal cover charge (we have the premier package) includes the special pizzas, or just the cheaper ones?
