  1. Just had it sent through as they have cancelled our stop in Lisbon as the pope is there !
  2. Hi Obviously this is subject to daily change and sometimes a port can get missed completely but is there a way to find out the planned docking times for each port? We’re on the Ventura on 29th July and as we like to do our own thing off the ship as opposed to ship excursions it’s good to have a rough idea. We usually cruise with NCL and all timings are published on your booking Thanks
  3. Are you doing a crazy amount of laundry ? 3 T-shirts on a 7-10 day cruise !
  4. We sail on 29th July boarding at 2.30pm which is fine as our hotel have offered to keep bags while we have a stroll round town I was a bit disappointed that there was no roll call
  5. This was the point I put forward to the P&O customer service desk exactly!
  6. I don't feel like you were having a go or being judgemental, merely expressing your opinion which is as valid as mine. My husband wears shorts from about April through to October time most of the time. Leisure/sports shorts for walking and then dress shorts if he wants to be smarter (and they do look smart) If its colder he would wear smart jeans but they just don't fit right for a holiday. Suits are for weddings and funerals these days. We have just returned from the area we will be crusing in and it was hot way into the evening and we like to spend as much time outdoors as possible. We normally cruise NCL which is from what I can see a better quality interms of restaurants and rooms etc but does have a relaxed feel. We booked this cruise on a whim when an offer popped up and obviously it is our fault for not researching it enough. My biggest bug bear though was that I am more than welcome to wear my shorts !
  7. We have a 2.30pm boarding on 29th July. We plan to leave our cases in the hotel and have a wander around Southampton as I hate standing in queues. We're in no rush to get on board as I'm assuming cabins won't be ready and we aren't really planning on booking any restaurants we just need to know what time it departs so we don't miss it!!
  8. To be fair he could wear a dress and say that he identifies a woman !
  9. Also (while I’m on the rant sorry) 100% this would be acceptable wear in the evening as I checked
  10. We’ve cruised many times and I can tell you this man will not want to wear trousers especially when as a woman I can go to a restaurant in a short dress or even a dress shorts co-ord. We’re sailing out of Southampton to Spain ad Portugal. I get the idea of formal night and am quite happy for those who enjoy that and it brings something to their holiday to suit up but it feels old and a little frumpy to us. I also feel that a pair of tailored shorts with a smart polo shirt (his preferred evening wear when on holiday) is way smarter to a pair of dark jeans which has been suggested by others. Also somewhere long up thread I’n sure someone used the argument would you go to a really smart uk restaurant in the UK in shorts and the answer is yes if its hot! The video that was posted up stream gives me hope as the guy was in shorts quite a bit of the time
  11. Think this may be shaping up to be our first and last P&O ! Meanwhile I may be off to buy my husband a pair of trousers to wear, however I draw the line at a suit !!!
  12. We are totally at fault for not noticing the dress code stipulations. We saw a last minute cheap deal and booked without checking the small print. We usually cruise with NCL who are very casual. We probably won't bother with the formal. It wouldn't bother me to wear a nice dress but the last thing my other half would want to do would be to put a suit on on a hot evening so I am sure there are other options for dining we can choose. My question is, in the other restaurants and on non formal nights are tailored shorts permitted in the evening?
  13. Thanks Andy though have just double checked and seen that we are at mayflower so not quite so easy may change to the ibis as that looks much closer and we are coming in my train too so right next to station
  14. Sounds great apart from the Doom Bar (terrible pint) ! Seriously though we are booked to stay the night before our cruise (28th July) in The White Star Tavern pub. We have a 2.30pm boarding time so am hoping that we can leave luggage with them and have a wander round as it looks like its pretty close to the terminal
  15. For me I’m massively anti-formal as to me it’s not what holidays are about but I understand that for some people it makes a holiday special. We’ve booked our upcoming cruise on a whim and hadn’t realised formal was a thing. To me a happy compromise would be to have a designated restaurant for those that want to and to keep another restaurant more restyle ! I’m already resenting the fact the buffet may be my only option for 2 nights of a 7 night cruise !
  16. You missed an answer 5. To an actual match or to watch a match in a bar which is the only place grown adults should be wearing a football shirt
  17. Can understand the no football shirts to a degree I would never allow my sons or husband to rock up in a footy shirt, not that they would want to. But can never understand the need to insist on trousers when the weather is hot! Tailored shorts look equally smart. This is going to be our first P&O (we usually cruise NCL) and I’m already not looking forward to rules on what is supposed to be a holiday !
  18. That one I can definitely agree with I’m not a fan of bubbles (or small children now mine are grown) but I’d take bubbles over cigarette smoke. We did our first Caribbean cruise last year and couldn’t believe people were allowed to smoke at the upper pool bar it was gross having to walk through to order a drink !
  19. we have previously only cruised with NCL who are very informal. We have just booked a last minute Jul cruise on Ventura and didnt find out about the formal celebration night till reading on here. We will not be taking formal wear on a holiday. I will have dresses that could possibly pass but there is no way in the world my other half would be donning a suit. People don't even wear suits in offices anymore. On the formal night we will be respectful of the places that insist on formal wear and will eat and drink elsewhere
  20. Depends what bubbles you are using and how strong, some of them can really mark clothing if left to settle and burst so if they went on the stuff on my balcony I'd be a bit miffed
  21. Decision made and Cruise Booked July2024 out of Rome ! Can’t wait
  22. Thanks for the replies guys. Yes I think we will probably go for the 2 bedroom as 1 will use the 2nd bedroom and the other the lounge. Also they like the fact it opens onto the haven courtyard !
  23. We are planning to cruise Jul 24 for my sons 21st and 18th Birthdays. They have chosen the route and picked out the Epic sailing from Greece. My question is would the 2 bed family or the Owners Deluxe suit us better as we are in affect 4 adults. We sailed last year in a 2 bed family and it worked well but wondered where the extra beds were in the owners as they wouldnt want to share a sofa bed !
  24. Our choice to upgrade to the premium drinks is based purely on the veuve! We were on the Gem last year and (this may be something to do with tipping on every drink) I was able to get Veuve anywhere on the ship. My other half wont touch it so it was mainly by the glass but I was offered a bottle
  25. We’re from the Uk and have booked a cruise out of Rome, so will naturally have Euros for all the stops to spend when we are off the boat. My question is when on the boat would you tip in Euros or Dollars?
