On two of my last three cruises I received an upsell e-mail as opposed to a call, both of them 3 days before departure.

With a GTY is it possible that you're moved up a category? From like interior to ocean view?
Yes, it is possible to be assigned an upgrade from your guaranteed cabin category.

We are planning on staying in the city for the night. If we do, I will update when we get to the room. If not it will be from the phone on the train going home.
Take lots of notes! :)
Thanks though, it will be much appreciated!

Did it two weeks ago and loved it! I won the dude's beads at the end.
Flying Monkey was an awesome stop!

Just returned from the Freedom 6-day as a solo a couple of weeks ago. Highly recommend joining a roll call on here or through social media - it is the best way to cruise solo!

The final thing that was lacking was the Christmas Decorations. This ship had hardly any. I was also use to other Ships with a Gingerbread village and there were none here.
Did you watch me win the ugly Christmas sweater contest? I hope I brought those present some Christmas cheer. ;)
We had a blast on this cruise and I thought the staff was fantastic. I had two buckets of ice in my room daily by asking on day one. Stayed on board in Grand Cayman due to the tendering issue on the south side of the island.
All in all a great cruise!

Or a whole bunch of bamboo sheets at Cariloha's.... :)
I like the way you think. :)
They upsold us from a balcony guaranty to a GS on the Dream a few months ago for $550 total. Glad we did it but doubt I would have done it for much more than that.

I used Uber Black extensively in Washington, DC recently. Looking forward to an update on this. Won't be using them for the airport or port but definitely for bar hopping in Ft. Lauderdale.

Airports are slowly beginning to incorporate Uber and Lyft into their ground transportation policies. I would expect it to be very common-place in the next couple of years.

Carnival is running a Halloween sail! really good rates thru march, even if you pay double. I'm holding off until early next year
I booked the Carnival Dream 2/1 sailing (Super Bowl Sunday) using the sale. Since so many friends were going I was willing to have to fork over the 200% but this sale saved me ~$350.

If you call you will likely be offered what the actual cost of upgrading will be. If they call (or increasingly they are e-mailing) then you will be offered a better deal.

We were midship Empress Deck last month and our cabin got cold at night. Had to turn it up several times.
-
Unless cruising solo, I would not go for the inside guaranty ever due to this, unless you were traveling with a friend and it didn't matter about the beds.
-
I was planning on booking the 2/1 Dream cruise but this sealed the deal. I have only had a guaranty balcony before and was quite happy with the assignment. Hoping for similar luck this time around.

According to the bidding guide websites it is at least available on Priceline.

The question about 1A cabins was posted on SEPTEMBER 8, 2008, FOUR YEARS AGO!! Think the question has been answered, don't you.
I think you should check your math. :p

Our cruise director was Jen Baxter although I'm not sure if she is still on the ship.
She is on the Freedom now.
The show band on the Triumph is excellent as were the production shows.

Sharon - thanks for all your help in this forum!

Unfortunately Blue Hole is not an available excursion through my cruise line, so I may have to give up on Ocho Rios. My reasoning being the cost of transportation, which turns a cheap excursion into one of the most expensive.
It is easy to get a group together and split the cost. We had a group of 31 on our cruise that booked a private tour from Montego Bay up to Blue Hole. It was well worth it!

Sorry, carnival is having a 30 bucks for 30 hours sale, ends today.
30 dollars a day for many oct thru dec sailings, so the 5day cruises are 150, 7 day cruises are 210
One of the best sales I've seen in awhile. $180/pp for interiors on my 12/7 cruise. Only slightly higher than when I booked with no solo supplement.

Keep in mind if they are having trouble filling grand suites they will likely try to upsell some folks before they lower the price on them.

Has anyone ever done Saturday brunch at Big City Tavern? I will be at the Riverside and understand it is directly across the street.

I use Uber and Lyft all the time here in Nashville. Wish they would expand to more port cities!

Do the lines get longer for boarding the ship as the early afternoon goes along? Or do most people try to board the first couple hours? And when is the latest you can board?
It will be less crowded at, say, 1:30 than at 11:30. From Carnival:
Note: You must check in at least 1 ½ hours prior to departure or risk cancellation of your reservation.

You'd have to try hard to be bummed on a cruise!
I used to live in Busan - always looked out for a cruise ship in port there but never saw one.
