It is very annoying to have a rule that is not enforced.  That makes it only apply to people who respect and follow rules, and there appear to be far to many of "the rules do not apply to me" type people around.  Personally I would bring it to the attention of an officer.  Either enforce the rule or get rid of it.

As I stated everyone in Miami wore masks and the same on both the bubble tours. Masking was being enforced in places where they were required like the Warehouse.

My concern is not that I will contract Covid. My concern is that if masking for the un-vaxxed is not enforced, there may be problems with other un-vaxxed contracting the virus. Ships do not need an outbreak on board so why not just enforce the protocols?

Masking was enforced on the 2 bubble tours we went on. The tour operators said they were required to notify Carnival if anyone didn't follow the protocols. The 2 tour companies just reopened after being closed for over a year so they weren't going to risk losing Carnivals business for someone that didn't comply.

We are on this cruise and we are canceling.  24-72 hours isn't enough of a window.  I've called around about getting quick PCR results in the rural area where we live.   I understand that the quick antigen tests are not PCR tests and PCR test results take 2-7 days to get around here.  And we don't live near the port so we have to factor in travel time.  We can't figure out how to get it done in the time frame allotted.

Most PCR tests come back in a day. I took my daughter to Quest and it was back the next day.  Others on my sailing last week used CVS and it also only took a day.  I had to drive an hour to get a location that was still doing the PCR tests.

Unvaccinated 5% Carnival will be asking if you would like to indicate you have been vaccinated. Not requiring you must do so. Who would not want to let them know? Those that choose not to, are considered non vaccinated. Makes perfect sense to me. Once that reaches 5% no more non vaccinated allowed on board. I would think they should indicate that on the web site so everyone will know what to expect. Also all the TAs should be aware of it.

Carnival is requiring either the vaccination card or an approved exemption letter in order to board.  The exemptions are done in advance and they won't approve any unvaccinated exemptions at the port.  All of this is on the website and in the protocol letters that they sent out.

The only thing they may loosen up late 2021 is the 95/5 rule. They may make that 90/10. For the next 12 months, that is about all I see happening.

This was probably the compromise that the original judge was looking for but neither side would budge.  A change like this could allow other companies to go vaccinated and loosen their onboard restrictions.

Does anyone know if OBC will move over to new cruise if I move cruise dates due to vaccine protocols?

It's supposed to but just make sure with the person helping you confirms it.

PVP told me it should show up 7 days before cruise. Will check back 8/1 for 8/7 sail date

John Heald had mentioned it prior to my cruise that it won't show up till boarding and that's when it showed up.  I checked the night before we sailed and it didn't show.

Filled out the exemption form, is there anyway to confirm Carnival received it.  Also how do we answer the question on our booking aobut the unvaccinated.  the choices are either vaccinated, unvaccinated and have received an exemption letter, or unvaccinated and have not received an exemption letter.  If we chose the last will it kick out our request for an exemption?

No way to confirm without calling but I took a screen shot.

The system is so glitch that I wouldn't fill the health assessment now because it's been coming on and off for the last few weeks.  It happened a few times for my last sailing and it kept resetting.

It absolutely does matter when vaccinated people can still get the virus. Look at what happened to the Yankees this year with COVID blowing through their vaccinated players. They had the J&J. So far, mRNA has been shown to be more effective at preventing breakthrough infections. The fewer breakthrough infections around me, the less likely I am to get it because fewer people will be infected.

Most of the politicians that are testing positive had either Pfizer or Moderna so it's not just the Jansen/J&J that are having breakthrough infections.

I'm 95% sure I received the same basic letter, though referencing my (7-day) August cruise.

5% chance I didn't receive it, but saw where someone posted it - and incorporated that into my memory!

    Tom

I did a search in my email for Carnival and went back because I remembered that there was an earlier email.

The information for onboard credit says it cannot be used for gratuities.

The promotional OBC went for the gratuities on my daughter's account.

Family Dr wasn’t in control of the vaccine, we can’t get it from our family dr. We need to register in the government website, when it’s our turn they will contact us to make appointment. No jump line even if we want too. There’s testing/vaccine site that we go to get it. Everyone will need to bring ID along with care card. It would be hard to get a 3rd dose with them tracking it.

That's why everyone is coming the US to get vaccinated.  If you need a 3rd dose or your 2nd early all someone has to do is go to another pharmacy.

Back in May (before they knew when cruising would start) Carnival sent an email stating that anyone with cruises booked in July and August would get a $100 OBC Credit for keeping the cruise and not cancelling (assuming the cruise sailed).

Our PVP said the credit would not be visible until you are on the cruise.  Just wondering if there was any issues for those already cruised.  Was it automatically on your onboard account?

The OBC was in my S&S account when I got on the ship.

We saw one family of five, with three kids under 12 on our Horizon cruise.

Also saw one baby, definitively under one.

There were quite a few family groups, but in most of those, the kids looked older than 12.

It was not your typical Carnival demographic.  We were pleasantly surprised by how many cruisers were in the 18 to 30 year range.

I didn't hear the final numbers, but my guess is that there were around 50 kids onboard.

    At least double that number.

Children not having to pay was for sailings before 7/2?

Approvals before 7/2.  My daughter's approved exemption email was from 6/21.  Carnival requires a PCR test 72 hours before boarding which is at the passengers expense.  My daughter's was covered by our health insurance.  Then there's one at the port prior to boarding and then one on the last day before arrival. It goes by birthday so if he's past his 2nd birthday he will have to have all 3 tests and you will be charged $150.

UNVACCINATED GUEST INFO  exemption is not working for me. I'm on the Sept 27th Miracle from Long Beach and it just says "Your booking does not qualify for the waitlist. Please verify your booking number and final payment."

I paid in full and my cruise is on the list. I'm very confused. I have a 9 year old.

Hopefully it's just a glitch since all the Miracle sailings before that are 100% vaccinated.

That’s what I meant- not being enforced in any areas.

The warehouse and the spa were the only 2 areas requiring masks but they changed the spa to vaccinated only.  The warehouse had someone checking for masks when it was open which wasn't too often.  Masking for unvaccinated was something that I would have wanted to see on my cruise but I can't see Carnival doing that unless the CDC changes the requirements.
