If you are on back-to-back cruises, you are still required to report to your muster station on the following cruise. The tv is not blocked, but they know who has reported ... and who has not.

I've done many b2b and each time at the muster point had the card scanned. Back to the TV you can't view anything else on it until you play the whole video

Why? Because they have determined that a large portion of their customer base prefers to travel with passengers who have been vaccinated against Covid. Making it a random check speeds up the embarkment process.

It will end completely before too long . Same as covid jabs after end of June. Times them are a changing and we move on accordingly

For me the knowledge that your Saga driver will (should) know the way to the dock, and is expected by the ship, makes up for any slight inconvenience of travelling with someone else.  Only once in about a dozen times did we feel that we had gone too much out of our way on a return journey  to drop others off.

Saga book the private car so it's the same procedure. We just price it into the cruise as  it's what we prefer

Thanks for the review. Agree with most of what you say Saga is the best option for no fly cruises from UK. SS from London is inconvenient for many

One thing I don't understand is the fixation of many people with the included car to the airport it's not free, and upgrading to a private car costs as much as booking one yourself . All one needs to do is find a good local chauffeur /taxi company. Yes you may need to add in a bit more leeway.

You serious Saga upgrade to a private car v book your own taxi Saga wins

  5. Randomly why? They either totally scrap in line with other cruise ships or keep them for all. Doesn't make sense.  We are moving into another phase at the end of June that only vulnerable people will be offered covid jabs not by age . I've had a NHS letter as I'm classed as vulnerable due to health. I've had 6 now and I'm done.

I didn't realise I had to sign up to social media to discover if something was truly bad 😀. The pictures at post #12 give a true indication of how bad it was at the beginning of the year and I'm pleased that it now seems to be much improved.

It's a good indication if the Saga groups mention problems but not a word has been written

I have only sailed with Saga 3 times -1xSofA, 2xSofD - but have not encountered a soot problem on any of them. Indeed, I was not aware there was one until reading of it on these boards.

If it was that bad it would be on the social media groups. Not mentioned once

  8. I don't think they did that early but I'm happy to be proved wrong. Depends anyway where you are on the preregister as some people register years ahead. If you have your mobile Saga will ring you wherever you are following on from the email you receive of itineraries prior to the phone call.

The 'old' ships had coffee making machines in their casual restaurants, which made what I thought was fairly good coffee.  Also in one of the lounges.  Do they have them on the Spirits?

Library, grill. Living room and Britannia Lounge yes. We find the coffee awful.

We were told to take boarding passes for SoD on 6 May but we were not required to show them. A week into the cruise and no one has asked to see them

    That's correct

  11. I've been denied included insurance because month before cruise I lacerated my leg. I bought instead Saga travel insurance with no problem. The two have different underwriters. I buy annual Avanti travel insurance now straightforward no fuss

Have you got confirmation for your source for that? If so, please post your link.

I'm due to sail on SoA in August, and I have been hoping that Saga would remove the need for Covid passes by then.

Our vaccinations protect us from serious illness, but doesn't stop anyone passing on the virus, so as long as I'm up to date with my vaccinations I'm not too bothered about other passengers vaccination status.

I had imagined that Saga had continued longer with the need for Covid passes to reduce the risk of having seriously ill older passengers on their ships.

I'll be making efforts to keep my distance, to keep to well ventilated areas, and wear a mask if I feel it's appropriate - all of that is my choice to do so. The only thing I'd appreciate from other passengers is, if they get symptoms, report it, and isolate if required, and no keep roaming the ship, infecting other passengers.

Yes I have from someone who boarded Discovery last week! Also next cruise neither will Adventure. Whether Saga are experimenting or not and would reintroduce the showing of passes you're guess is as good as mine. However if one has a NHS app Covid vac certs are in it Saga guests are well vaccinated anyway and I'm not going to get wound up by going back in time with masks, distances unless instructed to do so.  We have to move one and as covid is no longer a pandemic if we don't like new procedures don't go

Is Saga still requiring guests and crew to be fully up to date with vaccinations, and it's just that we no longer have to give evidence of this?

If this is a sign that the threat of Covid on Saga ships has significantly reduced, then that in itself is good news.

Always a threat anywhere however other cruise lines have ditched the need to show covid passes

  14. Discovery departing yesterday and Adventure's next cruise no covid passes required.  However they could be reintroduced 🤔
