  1. I cant give much input on the difference between HMC and Amber Cove...but I can tell you that we went to HMC with Pride and had FTTF. This is a tender port and having FTTF allowed us to get one of the first tenders from the ship to the island which in turn allowed us to rent one of the double umbrella/canopy. There is a name for it but it eludes at the moment..but it was for $20 with two lounge chairs which really helped us stay out of the direct sun we were not enjoying the crystal clear water. SO clear that you could see fish swimming at your feet when the water was up to your shoulders...pretty cool.

Now- Splendor vs Glory. I have not been on neither ship, but was comparing both of them for a May 2017 sailing. We just book splendor this week (8 night) because hubby wanted to try the Tandoor (Indian lunch), the burrito bar plus experience the therassus pool<sp?> in the spa. This will be an extra cost (shh....I'm buying him the weekly pass, it will be a Christmas gift to him). I wanted to experience the rotisserie for lunch and knowing it was the only ship in it's class plus due to sail to China in the future we decided on this ship. I also took into consideration airfare prices (you can fly into MIA or FLL and get transfers to the opposite ship terminal but for a much higher price). So we took all that into consideration when going with the Splendor.

Hope this info helps....we don't cruise often....and have not been on many ships, so to me...research is the way to go and only you know what interests you the most about a port or a ship.

  2. Hi All!

I booked our cruise yesterday (reduced deposit) with the main reason of the fly2fun. I called the day before to get quotes using Fly2Fun and the prices were $300.00 less then what I was able to book via Expedia or anyone else for that fact. Plus I didn't have to shell it all out of my pocket..it goes on with my balance. My questions for anyone that has used it or knows:

1- From now until 60 days we can change our flight without penalty. My goal was to nab the flight to the cruise but coming home was a different story. Just a few hours later then expected. Has anyone ever changed their return flight under the 60 days and was it really no charges?

2- I was able to go into the first carrier (Delta-heading to the cruise) and select seats. But coming home is a different airline and it will not allow me to do that (American). How did folks pick seats?

2- Has anyone ever missed their flight to the cruise and did they really take care of getting you to the first port? Paying airfare/hotel and meals?

    Just wondering and thanks!

  3. Hello Everyone,

I have not posted since 2014 when we were last on the Pride. We drove to that port and didn't have to worry about flying. Today I booked airfare and we leave FLL at 2:50 pm, so I was wondering what is the latest they let folks disembark?

I am well aware that the folks waiting to board want to get on the ship as quick as we would have the weekend before. But I really don't want to be at airport 5 hours prior to my flight.

    T

Thank you all for any input or information!

  4. Yes, we were on a cruise last week at this time (1st time in over 20 yrs on Carnival) and enjoyed it. Can't say "loved it" for a few reasons but will write my review within a few days. I am going through that withdrawal and have been day dreaming once again on a 4 day port out of 7 day cruise which has been flying to a port. I know with Carnival they book you on the flights, times etc and normally fly in the day of embarking. I have heard that they can and will (if need be) book at party of 4 on two different flights. Is that true? I am looking for some first hand experiences and did you think the price was cheaper then booking the flights yourself? Just wondering...and passing the time until I can cruise again!!

  5. Hi Bill,

We were on the sail same sailing and I Ditto Freeport. We have never been there but not wanting to pay for a shore excursion we just went off the ship to shop and spent the day on board. I also Ditto the scheduling of the shows. Our biggest "race to get to" was the family friendly comedy shows since we also had 6pm dining and we were normally done by 7:20. But the show started at 7:30 and we would walk from the dining room to the Butterfly lounge and never got a seat except once, we were so far up and to the side we only saw the back of the two comedians.

I also had a very, very big complaint with the fire in the garbage area on May 20th. Unfortunately we smelled it really bad and I called in about the smell around the same time the bravo, bravo, bravo came over the system. But guest services made me seem like I was a loon for "smelling an odd smell" that I said smelled like burnt marshmallows & DH said it was burnt plastic. Anyways...I was a tad-bit ticked we were made to seem like fools for smelling something and only after the Captain announced what had happened did I call back down to guest services and verified everyone in our area were complaining about the smell and I cancelled the "someone will come to investigate the smell" since DS was asleep by then and nobody had arrived in 40 mins.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread. I need to write my review soon also. It was a wonderful trip overall and I'm sorry I never got to meet anyone at the M&G, we got wrapped up in meeting with family on this ship!

  6. I was wondering for those who have left on the Pride. When you dropped off your luggage did you also drop off the rest of your party at the same time so only 1 person has to park and ride the shuttle (or walk) to the terminal? Just wondered if that was allowed and if anyone found that easier. Thanks a bunch!! We sail in 4 days!!

  7. Thank you for posting and telling us about your week. We leave in 5 days on her and I can't wait. We also have FTTF. If you don't mind telling me what time did you arrive at the port and get on the ship? So with disembarking did you do self assist with FTTF or not? What time did you sadly have to leave? Thank you for this information and glad you had a wonderful time!!

  8. Thank you all so much for letting me know this information. I didn't even realize that they started out in the room =-) So thank you.

Does anyone know if they sell some in the shops on the ship cheaper then 25? Just wondering.. or I guess I can buy cheap ones at the first port so bring home as a nice summer reminder!

  9. So, I am reading that these are for pool use or to take off the ship for shore excursions or beach day correct? What is the process to getting them and what if we want 2 each? Also, how do they know when you return it? Do you need to bring them back to the same area or does your cabin attendant sign it back in if you leave it in your room?

Thank you and Happy Mother's Day for those reading who are a mom or grandmom!

  10. Can someone please let me know how much they range to play and please post some pictures? We are trying to figure out a daily spending limit for DS but also interested in seeing what type of games they have. When I google images they show alot of different arcades, so I'm not sure which one is the Pride. Thanks!!

  11. So, I'm looking at Bon Voyage and wanting to get my family (traveling with us) something...but event the t-shirts I'm not sure will fit. I have not seen these family members in 3 years even though we talk weekly (my sis and her kids).

Can I just bring cash and add it to each of their S&S card and will Carnival let them know I put it on there as a gift or will they just see a $20 credit and not even realize it was me that did it? Just wondered, Thanks!!

I was still thinking of getting a small fruit basket so they have some kind of surprise in the cabin.

  12. I know where it is located (to the right once you get off the pier not the left). I read that there are tons of them for the picking and free, obviously. But I was wondering a few things:

1- Do they allow you to get back on the ship with these? We would be on Carnival Pride.

2- Does customs allow you to bring them back in or do folks "sneak" them in their luggage?

3- How does one clean one so they don't smell?

4- Where do they all come from?

    Thanks.

  13. Does anyone know where they have a list of the phone number for each ship in case of an emergency? I would like to leave it for folks at home while we are gone. I need it for the Pride but I thought maybe we can list all the ships in one location for future reference. My "Search" for this topic brought me a zero. Thanks!!

  14. We have 6 in our party and I got the 3 guys NFL ones to wear (of their respected team of course) and I am in contact with a lady who is making me 3 beaded/ribbon ones (so it won't snag hair and look a bit fancy). I plan on giving them out in the terminal as gifts once we get them. They are easy enough to take off the lanyard anytime we want to put it in our pocket or me my purse (like dinner etc) if I want to. None of us wear then for work (I used to for 9 years at a major retail chain) so I know it won't bother me to wear them. And the goal would not to be be wearing them in plain site once off the ship in ports.

Thanks for letting me know that there "might" be a chance they do it in the terminal. And yes, I will make sure they punch the right side....I never even thought of that!!

  15. I assume most folks use lanyards and I was interested in knowing if at the Maryland terminal they would punch a hole in the S&S card when they give it to you, if you ask? I would hate to have to bring a hole puncher just of that purpose but I thought I would do that and get the kids used to wearing it right then & there rather then later after we find the casino for them to punch the hole. Thanks!!
