A  first of a new class of ships has been ordered with Fincantieri last week by Carnival corp.

Measuring 208.000 tons, she will be the largest vessel of the whole Carnival group. It is currently not known with whom she will sail, but it is expected that it will be Carnival Cruises.

oh no Carnival Corp building a monstrosity of the Seas equivalent? Say it isn't so.

Frankly I'd take an ABC cruise on the Fantasy, God rest her soul, over another cruise to Nassau and Grand Turk...nothing at all against those ports. I love them and I will go back to them no doubt. But I've seen all I care to see of them for now.

    this is from 2006.

No. Amy Lynn Bradley. It was a long long time ago but the YouTube documentary has stuck with me for some reason. Like I said it’s irrational. She was most likely trafficked after hanging out with a band member during a cruise with her parents. Millions of people have safely traveled there since.

tyvm I've never heard of this case. I will have to look into it.

I have such a weird vibe about Curaco. I hate that I watched that documentary about the lady that went missing. I know its 1 in a million but its ruined it for me! So irrational. I need to do more research on Bonaire and Curaco in general because I to am deciding between these two itineraries. Both a win!

What lady that went missing in Curacao? Do you mean Natalie Holloway in Aruba?

Thanks. Better keep quiet. Could be another income stream for Carnival.

If they ever started doing that I'm sure some people would not pay extra to book the cabana cabins if it's going to make it more crowded. It was already packed on the Celebration last year when we went. Couldn't even get a lounger one day.

The Serenity pool on Mardi Gras was very busy when I sailed on it in March. Late afternoon/early evening it was less busy however.

I didn't stay in Havana on Mardi Gras, but on Horizon it was never really busy. Small crowd, quiet. My favorite area on the Vista Class.

we had a havana balcony on the Celebration and Horizon. I wouldn't do it again on Excel class but on Vista class, sign me up.

Try it, like we have. Mdr is much better.

I have tried it. We had a group of nine, all family from different parts. Linked all of our bookings together about 3 months before the cruise. Got on the ship they had 6 of us at 1 table and 3 at a different table. Talked to Maitre'd twice but couldn't do anything he said. Not a good way to start a cruise. The food back then was fine on MSC or at least it was back in June.

Well, I can tell you MSC has almost exactly the old Royal menus in MDR and it was all tasty and plentiful. On Virgin, all specialty dining is included and the galley is a huge food court with table service or grab and go. Have you tried either of those?

I read the MSC forum on another site as it's nonexistent on Cruise Critic and the complaints about the food sound much like these complaints here.

We are doing ours next week.  Nowadays yes you do need appts and, depending where you are, they can go up to 6 months out.  Ours were originally in February and we made the appts in September.  Luckily some appts happened to open up in Miami the day of our cruise so we chose them.

we do have TSA precheck and we did not get ours from office depot.  I believe it has to be a government approved facility.

Getting tsa precheck is ok to get at office depot isn’t it?

I'm two days from final payment, so looking at insurance before payment.  Like many, I have to fly to get to my cruise port.  My cruise is in March and I live in Michigan, so weather is unpredictable.  Does anyone have a good recommendation for insurance that would cover the cost of my cruise if we miss it due to the flight being canceled or delayed?  I looked at insuremytrip, but I wasn't clear if they cover 100% of the cost of the cruise if I miss it due to flight issues.  Thanks!

If buying insurance from an outside source you don’t have to purchase insurance by final payment date unless you booked within the last 14 days.

The original post was a year ago... however, I just got off the Carnival Celebration room 8231 on December 17th 2023. I DO NOT RECOMMEND You spend extra money for the Havana Deck on the Celebration, it is, in my opinion, a HUGE WASTE OF MONEY - and potential security issue!

    Here's why:

    1) SECURITY ISSUE:  NONE of the havana rooms have any type of door lock. There's a child lock, but it doesn't really work.  SO, that means, anyone can walk into your room at any time ... because all the balconies connect to an exterior walkway!!

    2)  The chairs on your "balcony" are extremely uncomfortable hard "plastic" wicker.  You have a tiny pillow for each chair.  NONE of the chairs has good head rest - the swinging chair is just weirdly designed, and you can't sit in it for long.

    3)  The sun chairs on the deck  are also a hard plastic wicker!  There are no pads, no covers, nothing.  If you sweat, you slide out. The chairs also do not have a good angle to sit and read.  They are, in my opinion, VERY uncomfortable.

    4)  The POOL is very cold, basically unusable.  It's not warmed in any way, and there is NO hot tub.  on the havana deck like other ships.

    5) at some points, guests were complaining that there was no havana deck bar attendant: you had to enter the havana bar for service.

The ONLY positive is that it's a bit quieter in the havana area.  NO ONE was using the sun chairs, and the halls were quieter.  If you want to pay $500-600 more for a bit quieter, then go for it. I won't do that again!!!!!

what do you mean by the child lock doesn't really work? I agree about most of what you say about the Havana area on the Celebration. I found the furniture OK though. Maybe if I didn't cruise on the Horizon first I would have enjoyed it more.

The meat looks kinda dry (overcooked)? And no spread or fixings on the sandwich? Or do you add those to your liking? Bread looks good 🙂

I may want to skip these after all after seeing this..

The person who makes the sandwich has all the fixings . I usually get jus and horseradish.

And then said, it was not there because they did not order it.  Maybe you forgot that part. Moving on.

Didn’t forget at all. They don’t order enough or choose not to since it doesn’t seem to be a problem for any other cruise line. I dont have a dog in the fight since I don’t eat bacon.

So you know the answer and he lies, and MSC needs better ordering procedures.   Got it.

I said he didn’t lie. He said it was because of a supply shortage which is true.
