I just received paperwork from Luggage Direct..  In Boston, someone will meet me outside the terminal and take my luggage.

I won’t see it for a few days, which is fine with me

    Jo.

Where are you at that you received the paperwork? Are you on a ship?

So many pro-testing people have filled out surveys and been very vocal the cruise lines think this is what their passengers want. I know, I write them monthly and that is the gist of the response.  Speak up, let them know you don’t want this.  Let congress know too.

Since you actually get a response, do you have a name and address for HAL or CCL that you can share?

  3. Okay, I think I got it. I went back in and hit the "start over" button and it appears to have deleted the trip info i had inputted but it retained all the personal info. So I think I am good to go and not in hot water with the GOC, I hope..

    Hi @Italy52!

The biodata that you previously input for your dummy submission will still be there. You will just need to input your new trip information. The same will apply after crossing the border and preparing for your next submission.

Wait until the bus has cleared the border crossing and you've officially entered before starting the second submission. Once you are in Canada, you can start at any time up until checkin, but leaving enough time for you submission to be processed and the receipt to be sent to you.

Let us know how you make out, and have a great cruise!

Hi Fouremco, Once you do the practice/dummy submission and get your approval code, should I go back in and cancel the fake cruise info or will it just go away when the fake date passes?

I don't want to falsify anything to the GOC and cause myself a problem...

    thanks

On Rotterdam now and both the 4th and 5th decks between the mid and aft elevators  are isolation. We are aft and can only access our cabin from the aft elevator or else we need to go down to 3, walk aft, and then go up to 4.

Do you know what the last accessible cabins are on deck five starboard side coming from the mid elevators is? TIA

  6. Fouremco/broberts and others:

This thread has been very helpful in allowing me to get a better handle on the ArriveCan process. I thank you for the time that several of you have invested in understanding this process and then sharing that understanding with those of us (like myself) who are trying to sort thru this. So my situation:

First, we don't embark till Aug. 27th and I know that a lot can change between now and then. But with final payment approaching, I want to ensure that I can ,and am willing to, deal with the different processes in place at the moment. (in case they don't change).

We embark Aug 27th in Boston for B2B of: Boston to Quebec City and then QC back to Boston.

So, as I understand it,  we fill out ahead of time all the bio info into ArriveCan and then within 72 hours of embarkation we enter trip info and submit the application. No testing result info is needed to submit this and get our codes....since the ship leaves at 5pm ET on Saturday, we can do this submission starting at 5pmET on Wednesday? Got to watch the time zone thing here since it is 72hrs and not 3 days, correct?...so this gets us onboard in the USA.

Then: 1st port is next day in Maine,; 2nd port is in St John NB Canada approximately 36 hours after departing Boston at 5pm, ......I am thinking we will have to submit a second time  on our trip info for actually arriving in Canada before we get to St john NB Can...is this correct?

If so, we could start that second submission sometime immediately after boarding, correct?

We then stay in Canadian waters/ports for the next 19 days, so theoretically no more ArriveCan entries.

As for the B2B part of submitting ArriveCan again at QC, no one seems to know yet just how CAN GOV is looking at this??

On a separate note, no one seems to know if CAN GOV is going to require a retest for the second leg either, ??

I tend to get detailed so apologize for the length of this. Just ensuring I have a handle on it at this point.

    Thank you

Some pics of the Volendam in the Merwehaven in Rotterdam where she will be for the next 3 months housing Ukrainian refugees.

Do you know if during this period, they will be able to access shore power as well as shore potable water and wastewater facilities? Or will they be on the ship's systems the entire time?

Latest from the HAL website:  "Guests on back-to-back voyages will need to disembark the ship at the end of each voyage, receive a complimentary viral COVID-19 test, and will be permitted to board the ship again once they receive a negative test result."

Hi crew news, do you might shareing where on the site you found this? I am missing it....thanks

  9. The NA docked at the "main' pier(Hoonah cruise ship dock) at the Adventure Center..walk off this dock into the Adventure Center(Gondola starts here). Keep walking thru here and eventually you get to the historic cannery area with, nice museum, shops, restaurant, etc. ......back to the dock; Way to the left of that dock is the "Wilderness Landing Cruise Ship Dock". Very new and nice... I used the wrong terminology for it. My understanding at the time(and that could be incorrect), is that it was "built" by another line. So whatever the correct terminology is....If I have misspoken, please feel free to correct me.....

The Wilderness Landing area is where the 1st leg of the gondola ride drops you. There is/was one building(shop) there that is(was) full of t-shirts, sweatshirts, cups, caps, bottles, hats, books, gifts, etc(actually very nice quality)  stuff for sale. Thus my light hearted comment.

This  area is right by the Wilderness Landing  Dock and where the 2nd leg of the gondola starts.

  10. They actually have a gondola. We went on it when we were there in the Alaska restart in Sept 2021. They cut a path through the trees. It starts pretty much right where you get off the pier.

The first leg takes you through some forest area, over the obstacle coarse which is another excursion, up to a trading post/tourist trap.LOL...Also, there is another pier were it drops you(belongs to another cruise line)😃But that was why we were there, to spend some and help the local economy.

It was a nice ride. We got in there at dusk...It was the perfect thing to do with the time we had. Shortly after it was too dark to do anything away from the buildings.

They were working on the second leg at the time. Not sure the status of that. It was going from where the first leg dropped you and was going higher up the side of the mountain. That looked like it would be very interesting. Nice easy excursion to get some great views and help the locals out.

Because they were just getting it going, it was free to us at the time.

WE are three stars at the moment (inching ever closer to 4 )...but we would pay full price, if necessary.  At this point the opportunity to make reservations don't seem available.  Any idea when one could expect to see this open?

We are on the Aug 27th -Sep 7th cruise as well as the Sep 7th-17th cruise. The dining pre-booking is open on the Aug. 27th cruise. I tried the Sep 7th booking and it says it is not open yet. So last week I asked our PCC about that and was informed that HAL I.T. is aware there is a problem with the dining booking on that cruise and is working on it. They hope to have it working sometime the next two weeks. So keep checking.

  12. If it is what i think you are referring too: it means the ship docks in the morning for disembarkation of those that end their cruise there, and embarkation of those that start there....and then it stays overnite and does not leave until the afternoon/evening of the next day. so you have a whole day in QC after you board..

  13. Thank you for your responses.

I did email the Mariner society this week. I received the following response:  We apologize for the delay, the Nieuw Amsterdam has still not received it’s shipment of tiles. Once they are received they will be sent to the guests that did not receive them while onboard.

So I was just checking to see how good the communication was with NA and Mariner Society.

I know this is a gross assumption but;  it appears those that sailed early in the restart are waiting and those that are presently sailing are getting them.

Maybe its a logistics thing between sailing Seattle and sailing Florida. Who knows...

I will give it a little more time(a lot of logistics issues going on out there) and then give a call to Mariner Society....Thank you all
