  1. I guess I did not word my question right. Sorry. What I want to do is get two single device plans so that my H and I can each have our own. I only see one device or 4. So was not sure if I could purchase 2 of the single device plans if I don't take the plus package or do I have to then get the 4 device plan,,? 🤔
  2. Trying to decide if the plus package is worth it and so breaking down my costs. I definately dont want the premier .. so gratuities I have and now looking at the wifi we each want to use our devices... if I pay separately its 14.99 for one device.. can I pay for two single devices one for each of us.. for 30 or do I have to then upgrade to 40 for 4 devices? Hope that makes sense.. I know in the plus package its one devices pp but if not going to get the package then??
  3. I think of one person in the cabin drinks but the other does not, buying the drink package for one may be a better deal than the all inclusive for 2.
  4. Thanks for the insight. I feel that given our eating habits, the buffet might be the best most nights after touring. On days we are at sea we can try out the specialty dining. I know we won't be eating with the friends much. BtW Those of you who were on the ship for more than 1 week if you bought the package where you get Specialty dining included 2 nights was it 2 nights for the whole trip or 2 nights every week I ask because one of the couples we're going with was on a princess trip last year and there was some confusion about that someone told them they were entitled to 2 per week and someone else said no to per trip but they managed to get to per week Everyone have asked from princess says no to per trip But in a way if you think about it this trip is 20 days and it's actually too different trips A boat is picking people up in Southampton and some people are getting off 10 days later in Barcelona and a new group is coming on and going from Barcelona to Rome for 10 days That's 2 separate trips back to back. But we are staying on for the full 20 days In a way you would think that they should be able to get at least another 2 specialty dining included in their package anyway just wondering others experience regarding that who've been on longer than a week
  5. So I plan to book my upcoming trip with airline miles for American and United.. then we are spending a few days in Paris before and a few days in Rome afterwards.. would that mean that none of my trip would be covered if I used airline miles for transport?? I was thinking about using my CC insurance so thanks for this post
  6. This is confusing to me as I don't understand.. you were not asking for them to reimburse you for your transport just the cruise..
  7. HI all more questions from me:) So I have been reading about the island princess not having such great food.. friends we are going with are looking forward to the specialty restaurants. They are from Italy so I would say fussy about any italian food they eat. I read somewhere the fettichini alfredo tasted like it was from olive garden.. Oh dear! Anyway interested in hearing any all experiences of the food on this ship ..I am guessing to some degree it depends on when you go and the chef that is on the ship at that time?? This reviewer said that pub night was the best food the whole trip. Just to clarify, my H and I are not big eaters. We have some breakfast in the AM.. we can be fine with just about anything.. I wont do eggs everyday.. Normally i have yogurt and fruit. We generally get lunch while out and about when away as we want to try the local food and will do a big meal mid day. Then in the evening we eat light.. sometimes just a sandwhich or some tapas (cheese, bread, salami) or soup.. again light dinner. So I am guessing we will be better off at the buffet in the evening. Days at sea may be different. If we wanted to eat light in the other restaurants or just wanted to join our friends and not eat.. is that possible or will they require us to order? We were on a small ship, 28 people, in Croatia and they fed us way too much... we were at a point where we told them we would share a meal and that worked out well.. so wondering if they would allow that here.. this is not about being cheap or saving money its really about not wasting food that we just wont finish.. Thanks in advance .. wondering if there is anyone out there like us!
  8. Yeah I think that's the plan as we are not big drinkers. Thanks
  9. Thank you for your perspectives. I think I will research the cities and once we decide what want to see then we can decide if its better to do withba local or with the Cruise line or on our own. When i think about day trips we have done from places we visited it will be very much like that and we have always gone on our own except this last trip in Croatia we did several local tours that were great.
  10. I have used foursquare to look for trip insurance before. I will say that just about every insurance company I read about the complaints were all the same. The companies drag their heels and make you jump through hoops. Has anyone taken different insurance not from Princess, needed to make a claim and had a good experience?
  11. Earthworm Jim. Wow that is a real bummer I wonder why! Thank you. Yuck then I am stuck trying to find decent insurance. Well at least now I know that. Thanks to all of you who shared their experiences.
  12. Just looking to hear though others experience
  13. Has anyone purchased the princess insurance and had to use it? If so how was the experience? Am I better off getting my insurance elsewhere? I have purchased insurance for past trips when there has been a substantial amount that would not be refunded. Last trip I only took only medical from Berkshire Hathaway and got all my costs back from a medical issue I had. Most companies I have researched complaints are all the same the companies try not to pay out. I know my credit card covers the trip so maybe that's enough.
  14. Thanks for that Trinitygirl. I definitely think the small local tours and some DIY ..which is what I have done on our land trips. We did a small boat, 28 people, trip in Croatia with stops at different islands and there was an hour tour of each city. Honestly though some weren't better than others I was bored and preferred to wander around on my own. As for the day tours we did they were great. Tourfamm thanks for the links if we ever go to Istanbul they will be helpful. Not on this trip though.
  15. Hlitner thank you for all that. I agree with all you said. We always try to learn some of the language where we are going to be particularly things we will need like food and directions. Google translate is very helpful and have used it quite a bit. Also we have downloaded offline maps for each area we visit. In places like Venice and Mallorca where it's easy to get lost they were a godsend. Great idea re getting emergency contact info from the ship! You never know.
  16. Great advice from all thanks. I already checked the roll call as suggested. We will be with 2 other couples who have cruised before. I do believe they have used local tours in the past. We have traveled all over Europe and rarely rent a car. We love to explore and do so with trains busses and yes our feet so no problem with that. I just want to see everything and so need to carefully plan time so as to be back in time ..don't want to be a pier runner! Lol Though we are first time cruisers we are experienced traveling in Europe. We are only cruising because our friends want to and we would like to travel with them. So will take all your wonderful advice and recommendations and start planning. This year we spent 4 weeks traveling Croatia and I planned and researched it all including several tours..all were small and one private. We have been to 7 of the 14 ports we will be visiting so that should make things easier. One couple we are with is Italian the other speaks Spanish so we have that covered in terms of languages. My H and I speak some French and can get by. Arabic? Well that is a different story 😳! All your points are well taken and I really appreciate all your perspectives. I do think small local tours will be the way to go for most of the ports. Thanks again!!
  17. So first time cruiser. Going for 20 days Italy France Spain morroco I always research places we visit in depth but we have always gone on our own and spend several days in a place so this is a whole new experience for us being somewhere just for a few hours and competing with thousands of others once in Port. So opinions please is it better to just book a tour through the cruise line or try to strike out in your own. Tours for 20 days will get expensive but in some cases might make sense like in Tangier where right off the boat I read you are hassled and followed around to get you to hire them I am also nervous about being sure to be back in time to the ship so wondering how relaxed I will be if we wander away from the main area so again a new experience. All perspectives and prior experiences would be helpful. Thank you
  18. So, since my last post a balcony in a good spot opened up so I grabbed 710 and thanks to all I am ok with that O told my friend to grab 714 but an hour later it was gone so he got stuck with 514 but seems ok with that. The others somehow got a balcony on 9 they did not say which one as it was not the one on 11 that I saw. I guess people cancel or princess holds on to a few and opens them up as time goes on? In any case for the moment we are going. Thanks for all your help! I don't think I would have persisted if not for those on this post. I have a ton more questions but will post for each topic.
  19. They told me I would get something in that "zone" that I selected This is the wording Selecting this option will guarantee a stateroom assignment in this location or a comparable location prior to sailing. Not surexwhat a " comparable location is. Deck is not comparable to 9 10 or 11 to me but the PVP really don't know much frim what I have experienced. They only seem interested in booking you and upselling. I got the same vibe from Norwegian reps. Almost rude.. asked a few questions and they said call me when you are ready to book and we can go over the details and aldonlied about there being do it yourself laundry on board. So I feel these forums are more useful
  20. thank you for doing that. So if that is true it might be fine for us to book but sadly our friends who will only cruise with a balcony as she is claustrophobic, have no good options. Only deck 12 under the pool or another deck under restaurants and casino. She won't do a guarantee as its nin refundable and she wants to know where she will be. The other couple also wants an interior and might be ok beside the laundry. Not sure. Other than that room just a frlew others on deck 5 below noisy areas. We will discuss but everyone is so busy we can't till Sunday so will be too late I am sure. We shall see Thank you for checking that out. Did you say you were booking C710?
  21. I am beginning to agree with that approach. If I can't get a cabin I want at booking I think I will pass. This would be our first time cruising and if we had a bad time because we coukd not sleep we would never go again. It's also 20 days which is a long time to be on a boat unhappy.
  22. Is this for sure... the elevators are behind that big white area
  23. Ok good to know then that is it for us... we are out of options. the one I initially mentioned in I discovered several people who had severe issues with vibration. This was on another website.. but I read it a few places.. since the refit there were issues ...other than that i agree it was a great spot. and its gone now so you snooze you lose. I honestly don't think there will be any rooms that are ok for any of my group at this point and one couple wont risk guaranteed.. so I think we scrap this cruise.. sadly it was a good one.. its really too late anyway to be booking for the summer peak season. I will look for a different cruise but I think this will be the problem anywhere Thanks again
  24. I just want to say thank you again to all with advice.. we decided not to book that cabin due to some not so great info I additionally discovered.. did not want to chance it. But I have to say this forum is a godsend as the Princess staff are soooo rude on the chat.. even some on the phone .. not all their information for a first timer is confusing and instead of explaining it to me they are so condescending. I am trying to get all this info for several friends who are working and dont have as much time as I so they tell me my friends should call and have someone answer the questions rather than give me the info I requested.. incredible.. anyway thanks all and btw if anyone knows what the white space on deck 10 is right near room 710.. that would be helpful.. I cannot tell if its where people congregate for the elevators or if they hang out between the stairs and what seems to be the lifts.. thanks again
