  1. Where do you get them from? Room service?

YES! Room service or the International Cafe only. (At least on the Crown. Only discovered them this past cruise and we are Elites, so must be fairly new.) That was why I started this thread ecause as they were so convenient and tasty on our last sailing!

Sorry I misspelled Princess in the header. I was so focused on checking the body of the thread that I totally missed that I misspelled it and no way to correct it now!

  2. I am dreaming of sitting on our balcony having one of those Princess breakfast sandwiches (very much like a McD Egg McMuffin) with my coffee RIGHT NOW!! (Discovered them on our last Princess sailing on the Crown in Oct/Nov.). So quick and DELICIOUS!!! Especially right before heading off the ship for an excursion when there is no time for a proper dining room breakfast! :ship:<3Anyone else love them?

  3. We saw this on the Crown this past July and these drinks didnt appeal to us.

Went to get the BOGO for drinks and brought them to platinum/elite lounge to enjoy the view before dinner.

Great idea! Plan to do that some days on our upcoming Crown sailing at the end of October! ESPECIALLY shrimp fountain night! :D

  4. Thanks Safarigal for keeping us all up to date on your first leg of the Queen Victoria's 2017 World Cruise! My husband and I will be joining you for the South American part Monday in Ft. Lauderdale. So looking forward to sailing on the QV again! Thank you for helping us all "live the dream" while we are waiting for our own adventures or reliving past ones! :)

  5. We are embarking on the South American segment of the QV World Cruise on Sunday, and I was writing up an itinerary for my 91 year old mother to be able to follow along with our travels. I have searched our cruise booklet and on the Cunard web site but have not been able to find a phone number for me to leave with her and other family members to reach the QV in event of emergency. I guess it is the Cunard phone number with the voyage number? Usually I find that information written out somewhere but perhaps I am just overlooking it. Anyone have it? Thanks in advance!

OP, if you are booking for Jan 2017, make sure you have your Brazilian Visa. It might take awhile to get one.

Plus, you will not be allowed to board the ship if going to any Brazilian port without certified proof of a yellow fever vaccine or a certified doctor's excuse attached to the yellow form.

  7. Hubby and I cruise just about ALL the cruiselines, but LOVE our Cunard cruises so that we CAN dress up! Itinerary is our main focus, but we are never sad when Cunard fits that bill for us! In fact, given a choice between similar itineraries at the same time, we will choose Cunard over the others! If the dress code continues a slide down the scale, that will no longer work for us. Tux and formal gowns are ready for our next Cunard sailing!!! :)

  8. It was $10 per day in December.

I have a paragraph about it in my blog:

We went up to the Lotus Spa then, to see what was going on in the extra cost area at the front of Deck 9. Believe it or not, we had never been out there until today. The cost is about $10 per day, bookable only for the entire cruise, and there is a thallosotherapy pool there that is included. The water was only lukewarm, the cushioned lounges are the same as those on the Promenade Deck, and there was no one in sight at 10am. We had heard good reviews of it when the ship was in French Polynesia and needed to see it for ourself. Much like the Sanctuary on the larger ships, it's nice but not exactly right for us. Forced relaxation is not my forte and G doesn't sit still long enough to get any value from it, either.

Thank you. We will be on a Panama Canal transit and read that it was really the only good place on the Pacific for forward views while transiting the canal and that was my true reason for wanting to purchase a membership.

  9. I wouldn't buy vanilla there. I make my own. Inexpensive vodka, vanilla beans..3 to 4 weeks and whole 5th of vanilla flavor...I place about 15 beans to a 5th. Ebay is your friend.

GREAT TIP! Thanks!!! :) But just checked and 15 vanilla beans on eBay cost a FORTUNE! What kind of beans did you use????

  10. Just returned home after our incredibly delightful journey across the Atlantic on the Costa Mediterranea with a few day's post-cruise stay in Trieste, Italy.

We began our trip with very low expectations due to most of the recent Mediterranea reviews blasting the "tasteless" food and other problems. Our personal experience was so much the opposite that I almost feel I was on an entirely different ship! I did come armed with my own shaker of garlic powder for the pizza and pastas and Crystal Light drops to make the USA water more palatable for me, I enjoyed the vast majority of the dishes served in the dining room. One night we even were able to have surf and turf by combining a steak option with a grilled shrimp entree! Our waiter made it happen for the four of us at our table.

I was particularly delighted with the sundried tomatoes and olives on the lunch buffet, and I ate those almost exclusively for lunch most days, except one time I had a juicy burger from the pool deck, and a couple salad lunches in the main restaurant. On one of our first port days, when most everyone was ashore, we found shrimp tempura on the buffet! The only time we saw it, but it was YUM!!!!

Keep in mind with my review that we traveled across the Atlantic with less than 1200 passengers on board a ship designed for 2600. SO luxurious! Our premium balcony cabin near the aft on deck seven starboard was a wonderful retreat with plenty of storage for our 22 nights onboard and one of the best room stewards, Renee, that we have ever experienced. We had fresh ice twice a day, and even extra pillows and bathrobes when we asked. We only used the free room service one morning. We were so close to the buffet that it just seemed unnecessary. we also had only one dinner sitting for the first 16 nights of the cruise until we took on about 500 more passengers in Savonna for the last week when they finally added a late seating and a second show time.

Not impressed with the CD, Antonio Serra. but most of the nightly entertainment was very good. Major exceptions - the "video" nights and the passenger "talent" show. YUCK! Walked out of the balcony (as we suspected they might be poor) on those.Really liked the in-cabin free movies! Too bad they started repeating over again instead of getting new ones after the first two weeks. The flamenco dancers who performed after our Teneriffe port stop were absolutely amazing! The ship was beautifully maintained and always kept sparkling clean. Thought we were going to escape any illnesses until we went on a long bus excursion from Savonna to Genoa where we had "hackers" in front AND behind us, Even the tour guide made a comment about them! Sure enough, the day before we were to fly back home, we BOTH developed the same upper respiratory symptoms and coughs! We both have aways to go efore we will be over this and are keeping ourselves isolated away from family and friends until we are free of symptoms.

Will we cruise with Costa again? This was or third Costa sailing and due to the 22 nights and double points for our premium balcony cabin we will now be at the Pearl level for future sailings and get those extra benefits, so if the itinerary and price are right we will!
