I'm wondering if you'd do better going more in the airport area vs near LaPlace, which is the opposite direction. If you could do an airport hotel that has a shuttle, then you could come back and grab a port shuttle from the airport the next day or whatever.
For me, I prefer staying in the city proper, especially in the French Quarter. It's worth spending a bit more to be able to walk everywhere and immerse myself in the area, even if only for a day. I stayed at the French Market Inn and found their room rates reasonable for the location and value.
I stayed at the Fairfield Inn in LaPlace and it was great. I got there around 5 pm and they had upgraded me to King Suite The only issue I had was driving into the pier, because traffic around the airport was ungodly!!

Great posts and thanks for all, If you get a chance stop by the SkyBar and tell Epraim and JR that Randy says hello. I was on the first two cruises out of New Orleans

I should have received my block on this cruise, but when I went to speak with the loyalty ambassador, she was too busy chatting with couples and groups and seemed like she couldn't be bothered by individuals. Each time I was in the "office" lounge she would spend maybe 5 seconds with individuals and maybe five minutes or longer with everyone else.
So needless to say, I didn't get it.

We were on Valor in September and the casino was open by dinner time. (Long before the ship is out of the river)
I'll be on Radiance OTS on the first sailing - Nov. 3 (Thursday). I'll check it out and report back.
we are on the same cruise, plus we are doing the next one also.

Would you do me a favor and let me know? I’m assuming you’re on Radiance.
sellwingri, we are sailing on Radiance for the first two weeks of November and when I return (11-13) I can get back on here and answer your questions.

We will find out next week!!!
-
we will be sailing in two weeks; will let you know if nobody does before then.

what are the options? It's been several years since I last cruised RCCL. BTW- we are diamond plus, if that matters.

Are you coming from the west? If I’m coming from the west and staying outside of New Orleans, I’ll just stay in South Baton Rouge. A little bit further of a drive but more hotels, food, shopping, and entertainment in the area.
I will be coming from the north. I am figuring I won't have much time for site seeing or anything, so I am heading to the hotel and then the next morning heading to the ship.

Not a bad choice. Hotels near the port tend to be expensive, with no free parking. About a thirty minute drive to the port on I-10.
Have you heard anything positive or negative about the Fairfield INN

I am looking for a one night stay pre-cruise in the NOLA area. Can anyone tell me about some places to consider? Right now, I am considering Fairfield Inn near LaPlace. THANKS!!!!

Will Fulton parking work for a Royal Caribbean cruise? Looking at a 9-night option.

Empress of the Seas, many cruises and loved the access to smaller ports. Second favorite is Radiance of the Seas, the next few cruises I will be on.

The Road to Hana is incredible and the trip back to Lindbergh's grave is equally fun. I would suggest doing that the first day and the doing the luau on the second night. I would have to agree with Loves the beach2 on this one/ It was the absolute best we have ever seen!!!

Sent in for renewal on 7-7. Paid for expedited, still don't have it 6 weeks later. The online site where you can check is useless.
Thats the truth.
-
Just for fair and balanced purposes... I sent my renewal application in on 7-6 (when the check cleared) and as of right NU passport (8-21). Also, on the website my passport shows it is in process, it has been in process for 5 weeks.

Thanks for the help. We will be sailing in November, and we are driving down.

In boarding the Radiance the forward part of the ship is to the left. You actually make a very cool turn in the Mississippi. At least that was on the first two cruises out of NOLA
