  1. Correct. EU and UK customers get speciality coffee at meals in restaurants included in the basic cruise fare. The discussion was just seeing how it was working in practice...

Actually the basic cruise fare (Just Cruise) doesn't include coffee, drinks, internet, water etc. The Premium All Inclusive fare does, which is often a few hundred quid more than the basic cruise fare.

  2. Has anyone done the dune buggy and beach break through ncl?

    How was it?

  3. Speciality coffee IS included in the Premium All Inclusive deal BUT only with meals (not the buffet). This is not the regular coffee available after meals, but the coffee at the bottom of the menu which is usually Lavazza but was actually Starbucks on the Bliss, this is the Latte and Cappucino stuff. The waiter still tried to get us to sign for it the first time we asked for it but was given short shrift by my wife who presented her keycard, which was labelled UBP + C + J, although we never could work out what the J was.

Water is delivered to your cabin beforehand, we found that it was best to ask our steward to empty the fridge of all the alcohol and expensive water, which is not included in any deal, then we re-stocked the fridge with bottled water, we found the cold water tasted much better, it tasted fairly poor otherwise.

The UBP is just as the normal UBP as was listed earlier.

The internet is a new one which we have just noticed and added to our 30 mins Platinum allowance could come in handy on our next cruise as we are taking a slave to the internet with us. We didn't get the internet allowance on the Bliss earlier this year.

Of course all your DSC and gratuities on the UBP are also taken care of.

    Juice?

  4. We are just about to book on NCL Spirit (Aug 19) . I would just like to ask a couple of questions as we have not sailed or travelled to Europe at all in the past.

Transportation from the airport to the cruise port - what options would you consider as the best for easier travel and less expensive. I have looked at the train but am not sure how close to the cruise terminal it would drop us off. Also back into Rome after the cruise for a couple days stay in Rome.

We are a bit intimidated as we don't know the area.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Port is about 20 mins walk from the station, and then there is an NCL shuttle to take you from the port entrance to the cruise terminal. Or get a taxi at the station direct to the cruise terminal for about €20. Or there is a local bus to take you from the station to the port entrance for about 80c from memory.

  5. Sounds like end of bin that they've taken off the drinks menu, but still need to get rid of. I suspect you would get the same if you asked for a "glass of red wine" at a bar. And of course you know that the captain has had no input into the choice of wine........

  6. VV recently had a booking incentive if that's who you booked thru........

Book an Oceanview stateroom or above on any cruise of 5 days orlonger and you'll receive a FREE half case of WINE (white and red) delivered toyour home. BUT - Make sure you book on Wednesday, 21 February 2018to receive your free wine.

In fact they often do it

To celebrate Valentine's day - book an Oceanview stateroomor above on any cruise of 5 days or longer today and you will receive ahalf case of wine for free delivered to your home.*

  7. And that is what the British are doing.

This is not anecdotal but fact based on agent information. NCL is losing in UK and their prices are astronomical compared others. Whilst we are very committed to NCL we are now looking at MSC or RCCL

MSC are even matching our latitudes level:

    Same here.

Got my Black Card status match from MSC.

    Looking now at RCCL.

Plus NCL aren't sailing from the UK this summer.

  8. The Norwegian Spirit will be sailing from the U.K. this summer. We are waiting for the itineraries to be released. That was supposed to have been last month, so should hopefully be any day now.

Thanks Keith. And I thought we were late in deciding what we were going to do this summer :D:D:D

  9. For all the emails and brochures NCL send about cruising from the UK, I searched for July and August this year, and there is one solitary departure from the UK.

In total, other cruise lines have over 200.

Shame the reality doesn't match up to the publicity. I have therefore this morning completed an MSC Status Match to my NCL Platinum.

  10. All gambling winnings by U.S. citizens, regardless of where they take place, are considered taxable income and legally must be reported as such to the Internal Revenue Service.

In the UK casinos, all gambling winnings are considered free of any and all taxes, no matter what your citizenship is. No-one will keep any records of who you are or what you won.

I guess any reporting to the IRS by US citizens is between you and your priest.

  11. It's a well known fact. They are not restricted by US laws as to how tight they are allowed to make the machines. Just because you were lucky does not mean that others were not lucky. Here is an example: In Maryland the law states that 90% must be paid back on the slots. That is a pretty good number. On a cruise ship it will significantly lower. I have heard as low as 70%.

12 years ago on the Jewel, I remember seeing a sign that said the payout on slots was not less than 95%. I remember thinking it was pretty good at the time. Sounds like they've taken the foot off the gas significantly since then.

  12. Yes! Your answer reminds me of a news clip I saw once. Reporter was interviewing people buying lottery tickets and asked a middle aged man what he would spend the money on if he won...his reply? “Cocaine and hookers!” The reporter didn’t say anything for a minute bc she was probably so stunned. But then she managed to squeak out “at least he’s honest”

Life is too short, spend your money how you want, you can’t take it with you!

And your response reminds me of one of the most gifted footballers ever, George Best, who said

I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered
  13. We did this ATV tour in Cozumel....loved it. Two ATVs with one adult and one teen on each.

  14. But why is there $23.90 of drinks to have service and tax on it? My question is, why isnt the drinks charge $0.00, leading to no tax and no SC? The SC is already paid on the drinks package anyway on booking, I dont understand why it is being charged on the cost of the drinks.

If its a PAYG drink, sure, SC and tax apply. But he said he had a drinks package.
