  1. And we have a drink package so no charge for our beverages. But our server told us that because we were docked in Miami that we had to pay a food and beverage tax on what we ordered that was not covered by our drink package. He said that tax would apply at any bar or restaurant we drank at while we were docked in Miami.

Thats the bit I dont understand in this thread, why he was being charged for the drinks and therefore the tax if he had the drink package.

  2. So going forwards, as a U.K. resident, if I don’t want to book premium all inclusive (we don’t drink alcohol so Never take the beverage package) do I have to book via usa travel agent? If we booked our March cruise now, it would be almost double the price thanks to beverage package and gratuities. We booked and took the free gratuities option for this cruise so I don’t see this option as appealing to us one bit!

Look at the Just Cruise thread I started yesterday.

  3. It seems identical to what is offered on the US website. GTY cabins receive no promos but get their cabin at a great price. For those who don't drink or want speicalty dining, it's a great deal as long as you don't care where your cabin is located.

Is there a question here or just an announcement? Just wondering if you're looking for confirmation of info...

    Cheers

Not looking for any confirmation, I posted the confirmation.

Does the US site include the daily service charge?

  4. Looks like it includes.......,last minute GTY (IX OX BX MX) and service charges, All other Premium All Inclusive amenities are excluded from this fare.

Selected cruises upto May, mainly December and January.

    • Exceptional dining, award-winning entertainment, activities and service charge included.

  5. Thanks and I'm glad you were able to use yours in the casino. However, as we don't want to blow $600 in the casino even if they let us, my question still stands.

    1. Go to casino

    2. Draw $600 of chips on your room account

    3. Go to dinner

    4. Have some drinks

    5. Go to casino

    6. Cash in $600 of chips for 6x$100 bills

No blowing involved. Cost = $18.

  6. Agreed with Froggitt, although there's no reason why, on port-intensive cruises, there couldn't be single sessions at 7pm, even if everybody didn't play every day. As for dining, well there was one Earl who once liked playing cards so much, it's said, that he simply had meat placed inside slices of bread....

I have always shied away from TAs, figuring I'd be bored out of my mind. A proper bridge game could certainly shift my attitude. Would need this advertised, and delivered--and I'm not sure how that could ever be guaranteed.

They could guarantee a bridge director (they get them thru an agency), tables and cards......not sure they could guarantee the people though.

I doubt though people would play 7pm on port days though, with dinner, shows, other entertainment going on.

  7. Epic TA Fall 2016 and Star TA Fall 2015 both had a bridge director with both duplicate and lessons. Again, similarly attended on both cruises, coincidentally I bumped into my partner from the Star on the first day of the Epic, and we teamed up again to win another NCL mug!

I think its a great addition to the schedule, although probably impractical on port intensive routes. By advertising this, which they dont (even the PCCs dont know whether there is a bridge director on the cruise), NCL would have the opportunity to attract a new constituency of "bridge players" to their cruises.

  8. On the Breakaway they had an area that was supposed to be smoke free and my husband sat down to play cards (because he cannot tolerate smoke anymore), and he had to leave because someone lit up. No smoking areas are not enforced on this ship.

They are (in my experience) if you mention it to staff.
