    Oh, Joy...

We're booked on the Joy next year for 15 days/nights. Sounds like it may be rather ho-hum, entertainment-wise. Sounds like we'll have to make our own fun...although, at our age, fun ain't what it used to be.

This has the potential to be our last NCL cruise. We're finally Platinum, but it's feeling more and more like we need to spread our wings and fly the NCL coop and try another cruise line. MSC maybe? We shall see...

I'm booked on the Joy for September, which will be my last NCL cruise (for awhile). I just saw Elements on the Jade so I guess we'll also have to resort to making our own fun as well. I have two MSC cruises booked for 2025...we'll see.

  2. Good morning all.

My 2025 Carnival cruise will be visiting Holyhead, Wales. According to Carnival's website: "Water shuttle sometimes required; varies by sailing."

I think we're the only ship in port that day, June 22, 2025.

Has anyone traveled there lately, and did your ship dock or tender? Thanks.

  3. Good morning,

I just booked my first two Princess cruises, but when I log into My Account on their website, I can only see my first booking, it's telling me "Your next cruise is in xxx days"

Is there a way I can see my other booking, or better yet, all my booked cruises on one screen?

    Thanks.

Advertised itineraries are just a suggestion on NCL. They regularly abuse the terms of their cruise contract which was never intended to allow deliberate false advertisement and itinerary changes made in the name of convenience. One day a group of passengers will unite and challenge NCL, but until then expect internal itinerary modifications to be made prior to final payment and announced after final payment to protect NCLs bookings and cash position.

We will only book NCL at rock bottom rates under 30 days out to try to alleviate the disappointment NCL routinely causes it's paying guests. This limits our ability to sail on NCL and we accept that, even though we enjoy the on board experience. We've done 5 cruises post COVID, but only 1 NCL. We have nothing booked on NCL going forward. All of our non-NCL cruises were enjoyable and, more important to us, operated the advertised itinerary without need for modifications to ports or scheduled arrival/ departure times. There are decent alternatives to NCL that offer consistency.

Sad, but true. Very well said!

I would prefer to be able to cancel it than go to Canada and New England but I know that is not an option.  Obviously I’d prefer not to sail into a hurricane but this cruise would be a pretty big waste of money to go to those ports.  I know it is always a risk to get re-routed on any cruise, it does not mean I have to say I will enjoy it.

Or...you could test positive for covid.

My last three cruises with NCL have had itinerary changes so for me it’s time to look for another cruise line.

Unfortunately, it's the new normal with NCL. I have grown weary of this nonsense. I cancelled both of my 2025 NCL cruises and re-booked on other cruise lines. 😡

  7. I really want to try an MSC European cruise in the Yacht Club, but the deposit is non-refundable. Since I usually book cruises many months in advance, I can't be certain something won't happen to necessitate a cancellation. I recently booked a Celebrity cruise and paid a $900 premium for a refundable deposit.

Has anyone here been able to get a refundable deposit on Yacht Club?  Thanks.

And from yet another senior couple, we are watching these port cancellations carefully.  We have cruised with NCL exclusively, but there are still destinations/ports we want to see.  We are still healthy, but as seniors, our cruising window is closing.  If we have to move to another line to see the places we want to experience, we will do so.

Same here. It's too bad because many other cruise lines have such unimaginative itineraries. On the other hand, it's nice that you can count on going where they say they will go.

Besides the problematic, but allowable under their contract, swapping / cancelling ports after final payment, their communication leaves a lot to be desired from timeliness and truthfulness.  This seems to becoming a regular occurrence and will make me think hard before booking future NCL cruises for more unique itineraries.

I agree. I had a 9-day Baltic cruise booked with NCL for next May, but I have rebooked with a 12-day on Carnival just for the reasons you stated.

  10. It's called spin. NCL is notorious for dropping ports for "environmental" reasons or any other cockamamie reason they can concoct...and usually after final payment.  Yes, it's within their rights, but that doesn't make it right.

I'm a fan of NCL overall, but this nonsense has to stop. No other cruise line routine pulls this kind of stunt as often as NCL.

Actually, CCL (corporate) got a new IT department in 2016 -- just google "Carnival Cruise Line outsource Capgemini" and it's been downhill ever since.

Web site is actually user-hostile, not user-friendly.  JMO.

I don't know if I would call HAL's website "hostile", but it could be a lot better. Princess is the worst, and surprisingly, Carnival's in one of the best I've used.

    Go figure.
