Just a little tip, you will hear a lot of people talk about the fridges in the room not being very cold... and a lot of people say to leave the door open. (they have the fridges "boxed" in so they fight the heat they are generating to stay cold).
Our tip is, my husband reaches in and slides the fridge just far enough forward so that the door will not close all the way... it stays cracked about an inch.
Doing this you don't have to worry about running into the door wide open when you run around, and it vents the fridge just enough to get nice and cold. I too will stash some milk or even a desert for later consumption in my room fridge.;)
Thanks for this tip! Will definitely try it on the Magic in August.

Just like in land-based restaurants people usually tip more for exceptional service. However, I don't think anyone feels like they have to tip above the prepaids.

We've never understood why passengers decorate their doors. We didn't decorate our lockers in school either
We've never had an issue locating our cabin, even after a lot of drinking & we consider who is in our cabin & what we're celebrating private business. And when you have baggage weight limits you only bring what is essential. & leave room for souvenirs.
As with most things in life, YMMV. The world would be a very boring place is everyone did the same thing and thought the same way as everyone else. Happy cruising!

Yes, they are empty now days.
So very happy to hear this.

Directly from their website...
Distilled Water
Guests may bring on board distilled water for use with a CPAP machine or nursery water for families with babies and packed in carry-on luggage. Distilled water may also be purchased onboard at $3.00 USD per gallon by contacting Room Service. The CPAP machine must be packed in carry-on luggage.
As for mouthwash...yes, it is allowed.

Ok, your plan sounds awesome. One idea if you want it less public but public is to pick a specialty restaurant you know she will like, book it for everyone, then on the way there or afterward, stop by one of the many photographers taking pictures (perhaps on a formal night). Figure out a way to get them in on this and have them start asking questions. Where are you from (to you and your soon to be fiancé)? Are you married? No, boyfriend and girlfriend? And so on. Then they can say something like "Ok, one more pose, get down on one knee and act like you are proposing," and that's when the ring comes out when you are down on one knee. BONUS: You have great pictures of the proposal and her reaction too - for purchase of course.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this idea! You sound like a great guy so I'm sure she'll be happy. However you decide to do it, enjoy your cruise and come back to let us know how it went.

WHAT?
All I am saying is it appears thousands of people have done it with no harm to the cruise lines or anyone else. And Carnival should embrace it, I am not so sure everyone wants to watch 3 channels and a 24-hour Carnival infomercial.
And I'll let you in on a secret, some may call what these cruise lines do unfair and borderline economic discrimination because in the suites, with the same exact TV, you are allowed to hook up your devices but not in the cheaper cabins. IS THAT FAIR?
And I am sure there are so much more. Is anything above evil or harmful? NO, it is just making the cruiser's experience that much more enjoyable! Why is that a bad thing?
I didn't say it was a bad thing. Carnival set the rules, not me. And they set the rules for a reason. Just like the laws in our country...laws or rules are not meant to be broken, regardless of how we feel about them. Maybe Carnival considers it a fire hazard by having additional items plugged into the TVs? Maybe that's why there's only only electrical outlet in each cabin. Who knows why they made this rule? But it's there for a reason.Sent from my LG-LS993 using Forums mobile app
We don't bring anything to hook up to the TV (we could if we wanted to) but it is a valid question and I'm curious to know too...why is it allowed in the suites and not other cabins? If for safety reasons or to avoid device liability wouldn't it be the same ship-wide?

Wow! That'll make for a great first cruise. We love the Jr suites. Enjoy!

I stopped doing it when some nasty teenagers ripped my stuff. I caught one of them and almost ripped him a new one. My wife stopped me. Now we don't decorate.
I tried to catch them but was unable, but saw them a few minutes later on another deck. Ship personnel said by going after them if they had run and fallen and gotten hurt I'd have been liable since they were minors.

Is that in the downtown area?
Just wanted to know for our next visit.
Thank you.
Keith
Yes. There's also Grand Turk Liquors and a Dominican Supermarket. Not sure if the supermarket sells beer/wine.

Had to file a complaint through PayPal to receive a $90 refund for services not provided.
---
We reserved a golf cart through MaxKart's online reservation system trusting that this was a reliable company. When we arrived outside the Grand Turk port, no one from MaxKart was there to help us. Instead, a guy from another company handed off Max's cart. The cart was in poor condition and had a 2 inch buldge in the tread of its front right tire; the wear was clearly noticeable but remained available for customer use. Since there was no one on-site who could help us, and because we did not have cell service to call MaxKart direcly, we took our chances....and failed. The tire blew within 15 minutes of use, and we headed back right away. When we returned, the guy who gave us the cart did not have a phone. A lady sitting next to the guy begrudgingly called Max on our behalf (not having a representative present was incredibly frustrating, especially with limited time at port). She explain to him what happened and relayed to us that he was coming with another cart. So, we waited...and waited...about 1 hour. Max never showed. I emailed him twice seeking a refund and sent him a PayPal request for the full amount. He provided no response. After a week of not hearing back, I filed an 'Item Not Received' dispute through PayPal. The claim was later granted in my favor, and PayPal credited me a full refund through garnishment of his account.
This company's code of ethics seems nonexistent or even downright unlawful. Buyer beware...
Good to know! Was considering them...

We've never prepaid and have received GREAT service from our room steward and our DR staff. So much so that we tipped above the recommended amount.

GS doesn't anymore, but the casino has them available for anyone who asks.
-
Absolutely! My 17 month old grandson will be on his first cruise (7 days) in August, 2nd (4 days) in December and 3rd (8 days) July of 2019. He will be Gold before kindergarten!

How nice! Congratulations to your niece.

Is it frowned upon to find a corner of the airport and nap there until the transfers to the ship start?
That's exactly what I'd do!

I ended up changing the occupants around in our two cabins after booking. That way, I only have to buy CHEERS for one cabin. Once we board, my daughter is going to stay in the other cabin, and my Mom will move in teh cabin with us. My Mom does not drink, and teh kids get thier own room. From what I understand, not sure what you mean by "fix" the room cards. I understand that all I need to do is go to GS and ask for a extra room key for both cabins. I give one to my daughter and one to my Mom. That way, they can enter the room they will be staying in, but they will still have to carry their original S&S card, for charging.
By "fix" they mean have the assigned cards work for the newly assigned rooms instead of having them carry 2 cards around. We do this all the time when we travel with our kids.

Thanks a bunch!!

I don't spend much at all in the casino and got the offer saving us $400 pp on our upcoming cruise. My daughter spends about the same and didn't get the offer. The only difference between us is we have a few more cruises over her.

There's always different vendors. We are doing a Sunny Liston tour in St. Thomas on an open air bus. The website tells you upfront how much, where it's going, and what you'll be doing. They have different options for different people.
You will be fine. [emoji6] Have fun and enjoy.

Sunny Liston is great! Have fun!

Less than $50. Usually for last minute t-shirts, magnets, keychains. Basically gifts for folks back home.

It took me 3 years to convince DH to do a cruise. One cruise and he too was hooked! Welcome home!

Loving your review so far. Happy to hear the GS rep went above and beyond to make you happy! Nice touch. Question...was the muster drill not held in one of the dining rooms?
