Currently on the Sapphire Princess going south. Great weather so far. Due to ice, only got within 3 miles of Hubbard glacier today. Too far away to see any calving even with binoculars. Glad I went on Kenai Fjord national park tour where I saw orca and humpback whales, puffins and sea lions. Hoping to see sea otters in glacier bay tomorrow. No rain in Seward or Whittier.

Chilkoot Charters is highly recommended. I used Avis a few times for car rental.

I always get an inside cabin to spend the money on excursions. Plenty of good spots to watch for wildlife and glaciers in the public area.

One way train/ one way bus with Chilkoot Charters is what I would recommend. Car is nice to stop when you want but I wouldn't do it on the first trip. I am going to Bennett with Chilkoot Charters mid June and they are all booked up so I wouldn't wait too long to decide.

If you are going to do , book it through the cruise line.

We are coming on the train. Was going to do 26 glacier cruise, but we have to make sure my sister's scooter rental is in the room. We may have leisurely lunch and walk around Whittier for a bit. Which should take about 30 minutes, right?

No. I am on the Sapphire leaving from Whittier on the 15th.

What glacier didn't you get close to?

Not a silly question. I wanted to know the latest I could board so I could do an excursion. Sailing is June 15 and I still don't know. My plans have changed so it no longer matters but it is weird that I couldn't have that information by now.

Interesting. I have never seen puffins in ISP area. Glad you were able to see them and the moose.

What excursion did you do on ketchikan to see whales?
