First I have to say the lot on CC is just........chef kiss.
I don't think this new setup is a kick in the a## to pins. Ideally most people cruise because they love doing it. So the C&A perks are/should be an afterthought. The idea that people are spending $1000s to get what might be $200 in perks is amazing and also an insult. I would suspect that only 1/10 pins cruised for the sake of recognition, the rest just loved it and happened to achieve it. IMHO the perks are quite outstanding compared to other lines, so even if things are removed or changed; C&A members still come out ahead. The SL was created for suites, people who are paying $500+ a night to cruise versus the standard $80-ish a night. So Pins, not staying in a suite, having access to it was a bonus. Name another line that is giving you 6 drink vouchers a day. Or setting aside a place for you, regardless of the ambiance? Cruising is a luxury, not a guarantee, so those who pay more should get what they pay for.

I would say if it is a ship that is currently sailing, the worry over cancellation is slim. Harmony is sailing. I do think you will sail and unless you are unvax with children you don't have to worry. There was always a risk that ships not sailing or scheduled for a test cruise would be cancelled.

Without knowing what ship you are on, it is hard to determine if the capacity has something to do with it or if it is an IT problem. I am sailing Oct 31st and can make MTD reservations with ease on the website through CP and on the app. But I would imagine it also won't be a problem to walk up and get seating especially if you are a late diner.
-
I will be excited to read about your CK/SL experience as we are staying in a 2br GS. I have too many newbies with me, 4/5 pax, to do specialty dining so we plan to stick to CK and the MDR.

Those sloths look so cute 😍. I am on Allure Oct 31st and since we are vax, we plan to get off and support the locals in as much as we can. I really appreciate your review. The few about Allure I have read really didn't answer much or give me the illusion that I was on the ship.

Well, then you can book no problem, it might really work in your favor with sales and cancellations as far as the fare price goes. Good luck, safe travels.

Don't quite understand your question. If you are asking what is the latest date you can book a cruise.....then. If a cruise has space, then you can book it. The only thing is the entire fare price is due when booked that late. With reduced capacity some sailings have been unable to book for a while, while the newly released protocols are opening others up.

@cocoabeanIf land portion is book through RCG then yes you will get double point for the land portion as well.
-
If you have the UDP then you can frequent the specialty restaurants as much as you want. You could eat up your $35 and then come back and do it again. I would imagine its a bit harder with reduced capacity to schedule reservations but it is possible.

Check in usually opens at around 90 days. As the restart has been iffy that is not exact. I would say at 90 days start checking the app or website.
Edit that's 90 day until cruise
-
I don't think so, maybe a 3 night package but ymmv. I find the specialty restaurants aren't that special. Also keep in mind if you are cruising soon , if you want it, get it asap. With no Windjammer open for dinner, lots of close-in sailings no longer have the UDP for sale.

I read that the vouchers were a permanent change and that things like not be allowed access to certain lounges were temporary.

@broadwaycam Yes you can do that or click on the ship icon to get activities and such. When you get aboard the calendar should start showing activities. For restaurant reservations you should be able to click on a restaurant and make one.
-
It really depends on preference or Royal IT on which is better for check-in. Currently reservations have to be made on app when you board or at guest services.

I am pretty sure RCG will refund cruise fare. If they are flying people who test positive for covid privately, then they are giving refunds. These people are just like the fake vax lady, they are entitled....they want to be made complety whole. They expect RCG to cover airfare, hotel fare , etc. Even if all the wording on each letter is confusing as heck, planning a trip with limited funds over 2 years would warrant a bit of research. I am 95% sure they they thought RCG wasn't going to turn them away and if they did they could get something extra out of the whole ordeal.

I know in the past they would allow suite guest to get a drink and take it into CK for dinner or even order from the SL , is that still a thing?
-
Also if you are on the app you can check. If you click on the person shaped icon at the top you can clicked that and for most sailings it will tell you a possible date check-in will open.

As will all ships currently sailing it is less than 100% But no one will know exact number until they board. Most ships are starting with 35% and increasing

I just want to say that spending/value is not relative, it is subjective. It is not always monetary value that determines whether someone can afford something.
There are a lot of factors that each individual uses when determining value. I am by many people's account, bougie, but I have a value criteria. I see no problem flying business or first international and the same for some domestic trips. But I have a system too determine when that happens. It is the same for cruises. I spend an equal amount of time in my room on a cruise but there are factors to the value of cabin. I have stayed in suites but will stay in interiors as well. I prefer them on particular ships and itineraries.

There is a lot of either facetiousness or plain snark going on in this post. Pre-covid you would get an assigned time but didn't have to stick with. It really didn't matter if you had 12 or 3pm, you could just show up and as long as you stood in the lines they let you on. It is the same process but you no longer can just show up and be let on. Now with the protocols and testing it is assigned times. Meaning the earlier you are able to check-in the better options for times. So there are variables like days and times but only relative to when check-in opens.

The wow sale is, imho, a wow because they haven't had OBC included for a while. However, like every sale it won't be for everyone. A while back they had a good sale with bonus C&A discounts. Being only gold I watched as many people raved about saving $1000s after a reprice. I understand that different ships, itineraries and ports all factor into everything. I had my TA check for this one and was able to get the extra OBC on 1 of my bookings. It is part of a Jan 2022 S2S, so I don't think it is only for 2021 sailings.

I think it is an issue of people cancelling. My Oct 31st allure had all suites except for jr. gone until the July/Aug protocols were released. Last week when testing became a thing, 4 star class and 3 sky class suites opened up. When I checked today it was still a bunch left.

@Marie51It has been reported on every review since the restart and I think it is even listed in the FAQS. They weren't even selling the Key because there really isn't priority boarding. Also on FB, couple of people tried to do this and had to wait in the heat until their scheduled time.

@texkatThe double points are an after covid thing, so if you sailed prior to 2020 you only got the 3 points deal. Meaning the standard 1 point, an extra point for a suite and then the extra point for solo. For the double point offer they will automatically apply to all these sailings until Dec 2022 that have been booked by Sept 2022. But it is possible you didn't get the 3pt per night when you sailed solo in a suite.

I got this and ignored it. But you need to bring vax card and results from negative test regardless.
