  1. Yet, here we are. I might need a flow chart to figure out what this is saying.
  2. Yep, but aren't you worried about all those who will lose their lives because of the change to eMuster?
  3. I never tip to get better service. I just do it to say thanks to a nice person who does stuff for me. šŸ˜Ž Since I generally sail steerage, Iā€™ve got plenty of ā€œextraā€ money!
  4. I refuse to sail on any ship without an observation lounge. I don't care where I'm sailing. Excess sun exposure is (literally) a killer for many. That, and sitting on the pool deck with all the noise and commotion can drive a sane person crazy. That's not what I want on vacation. To your point, I'm glad that I'm apparently in the minority because it yields a very nice/peaceful observation lounge.
  5. I'm guessing you don't drink much and/or haven't been on many cruises.
  6. Why not? You have air conditioning, regular bar service and zero added risk of skin cancer. It also sounds like you would have had a lot of peace and quiet. You just described my ideal vacation, and it's great no matter what I'm seeing out the window. After you get a few more cruises under your belt, you may better understand my position. šŸ˜Ž
  7. To quote a line attributed to Jack Bogle: When it comes to stock prices, "nobody knows nothin' " Buy and hold diversified stocks at low expenses. Everything else is just a combination of noise and gambling. Unless you have insider info, the entire market knows everything that you know.
  8. It must be effective since nobody has died on an NCL ship for a long time (other than due to medical reasons or old age).
  9. Also, keep in mind what ports you'll be visiting and check your cell phone plan for coverage. As an example, when sailing to AK I can use my cell phone freely when in port and avoid using my ship internet minutes. Even some foreign ports will have free wi-fi in the terminal building.
  10. I don't believe that you had to "watch" it. šŸ¤£
  11. Unfortunately, some of us have had to wait many times, so the question is a valid one.
  12. I can't remember checking them at that time. I'm still prior to final payment and was able to book only the "real" main dining room when I recently checked.
  13. The main MDR did open for reservations on my next cruise. I booked it at 5:30 for most nights that I don't have specialty dining booked. Took about 5 minutes. I'll likely cancel/no-show some of them, but at least I have the place holder if we want it.
  14. Some would refer to it as a healthy survival instinct. šŸ¤£
  15. Thank you. It's nice to add some logic to the mix.
  16. Isn't this thread exactly the right place to debate muster drills? If somebody doesn't want to read the various opinions, perhaps they're the ones in the wrong place.
  17. Apparently, NCL is now issuing a final word on this, and it doesn't involve the passengers learning to "obey" any "orders." It appears they figured out who the customer is. (šŸ€pšŸ»)
  18. I'm guessing you also had some form of payment record?
  19. Thank you both. That is exactly what I was hoping to hear. More good reason to buy that trip insurance. I don't need (or want to pay for) CFAR. I'll self-insure for that. I book cheap rooms, so we're not talking about a fortune here. Generous medical, med-evac and trip interruption insurance is pretty cheap and something I don't mind paying for.
  20. That's a good point, and it begs a question. Has anybody here been reimbursed by third party insurance for medical care received on the ship?
