Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We are interested to know if Plus 2 Duo and party band Echoes are still playing aboard the Crown Princess. If you are currently on her, please check out live music venues or Patter listing and share what you see. Thank you for your time.
  2. You do not have to walk to BART. You're walking off the ship independently, so I assume that your bags are of manageable sizes. You have the option of taking the "F" trolley car which takes you to the Embarcadero BART station on Market Street. There is a platform to board the trolley on the main road on either side of Pier 27. The trolley ride costs $3 pp and is about 10-15 mins depending on the signal lights. The trolleys run separately from car traffic, so congestion is not an issue. If you leave the ship by 8 am, you should have no trouble getting to the airport in time for a noon flight. Uber may be much more convenient; but if surge pricing is in effect, you might consider doing trolley/BART.
  3. Is live music being offered for dancing in the evening?
  4. @SuzieQ521, if you are willing and able, that would be super terrific. Thank you so much. The itinerary is not the same, but we'll get a pretty good idea of what to expect. Have a wonderful time. Thanks again.
  5. Hello. If you are currently on the Crown Princess, please consider posting a sea-day patter. We're booked to sail on her to Hawaii soon and would appreciate getting an idea about music acts that are playing in the piazza and various lounges. Thank you in advance for sharing the information🙏 🙏.
  6. Thanks for the heads-up. I must have missed the posts talking about that. Is this a planned overhaul of the program that is, hopefully, based on customer feedback? Or is this just a product of the new post-Covid era of cruising?
  7. @Lauranne, thank you for your post about your epic adventure. We are itching to sign up for a similar sailing next year. We are new to SS so have a follow-up question for you about entertainment aboard. We understand that entertainment is not the point of this itinerary. Still it would be terrific to have something to do during the day in between the expeditions and evenings before/after dinner. You did mention music in one single entry, but not much else. Was live music available onboard nightly? How about lounge or cabaret acts (production shows are probably out of the question)? What options did you have to pass the time during the day while waiting for your time to go on an expedition? Thanks again for sharing your experience.
  8. Thanks for the tip @CalmSea. We love ballroom, and we do it to all kinds of music, including contemporary songs, even some hiphop songs.
  9. Thank you @jondfk for doing this live thread. When you have had a chance to do some serious relaxation, please consider posting a copy of the daily program, especially one from a sea day. We love live music and enjoy dancing to it, so would be interested to see how much of it we can do on Seabourn. We've really enjoyed Princess Cruises in this regard. On some trips, we were fortunate to have 5 different bands on the ship. On sea days we'd start dancing at noon and kept going into the night. We've been researching the higher end cruise lines to see if one might be right for us. So far we're not encouraged after having read posts about Oceania, Viking, and Regent. Other than being fed and pampered, there does not appear to be much to do. We're hoping that Seabourn might be different. Thank you in advance.
  10. World cruisers, please consider posting a sea-day patter when you are taking a break from relaxation. Thank you in advance.
  11. Would you like to spend a few days before or after cruise touring around SF or LA? What about cost to fly from where you are and convenience of transfer to the port in question? If all are pretty equal, then these little issues might help your decision.
  12. Thank you all who responded to our request. Late next year Coral Princess will be doing several back-and-forths between Florida and the west coast USA via the Panama Canal. We are Californians, and this is our chance to experience this ship that is much beloved by many on this board. We are so excited!
  13. We are planning to sail on Coral next year. Have never been on this class ship so would like to get a feel for daily activities, especially live-music offerings. Would appreciate being pointed toward patters from a recent Coral sailing. Did some searching on this board to no avail. Thank you all.
  14. Thank you, BubbaEd for posting this. You saved us a lot of time and money trying out a line that we apparently would not enjoy very much. The overly relaxed and sedate atmosphere is the final nail in that proverbial coffin. We have an Oceania booking (first time) next year. Please do post your experience and excellent comparison after your December cruise. Here's hoping that Oceania is not just Viking Light.
  15. I would love to hear from someone who has been able to refare or rebook AFTER final payment is made without using cancellation insurance. I have had several instances of price drop after final payment date. Each time I was told that the only way to take advantage of the new lower fare would be to cancel using my insurance and rebooking the new fare. Of course, if one uses the cancellation insurance, the premium is "used" and not refunded. I recall reading posts about certain magician TAs and PVPs who have a way to refare even after final payment. Just wondering if that still happens...
