  1. All that is left is the band at the bottom.  I decided that I did not care for the white stripe down the middle.  The top tie is the tie from the original top.  The bottom tie is made from a scrap.  The back and straps are intact from the original top.  This was a tough challenge, but I am happy with the results.

  2. I decided to refashion a bikini top that is too big for me.  I started with seam ripping the cups very carefully.  I was able to save the straps and back to use with the new front.  I made a ton of progress today, and just have to sew the pieces together.  I am thinking of using the bright color as the band below the bust.

I may put the bright color in the lacing on the hip to incorporate it into the bottoms.

  3. I spent the day converting my home office into my sewing studio.  Added the cabinet for my fabric stash...yes I am a fabric hoarder.  I also moved my parents old kitchen table into the room.  This will be my cutting table.  The table was given to my grandparents as a wedding gift in the 1930’s, and they gave it to my parents when they got married.  My mom passed away a few weeks ago, but before she died she gave me the table.  She was excited that I would treasure it and use it for my sewing.

As you can see, I am sharing the space with my cats.

Thanks for the update.  It seems that sushi is no longer a big production in the Lido Market.

How was your PG dinner on the last night?

It was fantastic!  Since we gathered more OBC from the cancellation of HMC, I decided to get the Maine Lobster Tail.  I haven't had Maine Lobster in years and it was perfectly cooked.  I always enjoy spending our first night and last night at the Pinnacle.  You looked like you were having a marvelous time at your table.

On the sushi front...the sushi on Lido appeared to be hidden from view.  I mean you really had to look hard to find it.  The only reason I saw it was that I was picking up a raman bowl from the side that had the Asian entrees ready to go.  It's hard to describe, but the sushi plates were elevated in the space and almost reached the bottom of the top shelf (where they hand the plates to you).  I don't know if that makes sense and unfortunately I did not take a picture.  There was not much variety, but what they had was good.

I don't remember seeing sushi in the Lido Market either and usually five entrees at the Asian Station.  I think the Lido Market menus are provided by HAL but the ship can alter/add to  them.  It did seem like there were more offerings in the Lido Market than were on the menu with at least two soups each day.  Fish and chips were available every day it seems with the fish cooked perfectly for me.

I had sushi several times at Lunch in the Lido Market.  It is in the Asian station on the side.  You will not see it looking straight on at the stir fry area.  Go to the left side and it's on the front corner next to the prepared noodle and rice dishes.

The scallop sushi roll in Nami Sushi was fantastic.

Lisa, were you able to tender.  One of the few downsides to the Prinsendam is that she depends on the anchor for tendering.  When I visited HMC last fall we were unable to make the call but Nieuw Amsterdam with dynamic positioning was able to visit.

    Roy

We were not able to tender either.  So another nice sea day for us.

Some questions for those on Koningsdam now- a few questions

Is Pinnacle grille and MDR open for lunch on sea days only or every day?

Current main show entertainment.. Is it changing on next cruise starting Dec 21 or remaining same?

Who is the comedian and other headliners?

Any big changes in beverage prices from last year?

Any tips for us for our upcoming trip??

Pinnacle Grill and MDR are only open for lunch on sea days.  Crews News’ thread would be the best source for your other questions.

  8. I am currently in 7191, next to the corner wrap balcony.  It is awesome!  Unless the sun is bearing down on this part of the ship, the balcony is not hot.  We stayed on the ship yesterday in St Lucia and enjoyed the balcony all day.  The balcony above covers almost all of ours, so we can stay out there even with the random showers.

This cabin became available 4 weeks out and we snatched it up.  I would book this again in a heartbeat.

I've been told there is a deck (Sky?) above the Observation Deck that isn't shown on HAL's deck plans, not even the most recent set dated 11/13/18.  If so, are passengers allowed there? Is it just standing room or are there loungers? Do the elevators go that high? Is there stair access from the Crows Nest? There are stairs shown on the starboard side in the Crows Nest but no corresponding ones on the Sun Deck.

    Thanks.

We discovered Deck 14 when we approached St Martin.  Two ways to get there.  Either take the forward elevators up to deck 14 or on Deck 12 go out to the cabana area (not past the roped off area) and up the stairs to deck 14.  There are some loungers and small tables up there.

  10. I am on the cruise and a couple of doors down from Roger.  We spoke for a while in the hall the other night and I told him I will help out answering questions on the different threads.

Philipsburg is still recovering from the hurricane damage of 2017.  The boardwalk is in great shape and most of the bars and restaurants are back open.  Front Street is a different story.  The further away from the courthouse (and ships) you go, the less rebuilt it is and you can see how violent the hurricane was to downtown. Back Street was worse than Front Street.  Same thing, the closer to the courthouse, the better shape it is in.

The pier shops are back and thriving.  The harbor village shacks have been rebuilt. The Belgian Chocolate Box is open at the pier...she opens late morning...I bough two giant boxes. OMG, her stuff is awesome!

One more thing.   I have Verizon international coverage and could not get data in Philipsburg.  Cellular for calls worked, but no data.

These are a few pictures I took with my phone.

This came out  wonderful.   I like the green sleeves on the shirt.  I brings out the green in the rest of the fabric.

I was really happy that I had some swim knit in a color that coordinated with the pattern.  It was a $3 1.5 yard remnant that I bought online.  I wasn't sure what I would use it for, but since I was ordering a bunch of solid swim knit remnants I decided to add this to the cart too.  I am very happy with the result, especially since this was my first time with this pattern.  I have tons of the floral, so I decided to just go for it and it fit perfectly.  :)

Looks good.  I was also checking out your blog.  It notes you are 5'11"....now I understand the desire to sew your swimwear...

At 5'11" and long torso makes buying ready to wear swimwear rather difficult.  Even bikini tops don't fit exactly right if the straps are not adjustable.  On the bikini top pattern I had to add an inch to each strap.  I did that on the prototype since I knew the pattern length would not work.  Luckily, an inch was perfect.  I worked on the bottoms a little more yesterday and I think I got the fit where I want it.  I did decide to make the rest into swim skirts.  Since I have not sewed the waist band on yet, it's simply cutting the skirt pieces out and attaching.  Yay, nothing too complicated.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Joann is having Door Buster deals on apparel fabric in the morning.  60% off sale and there is a coupon for another 25% off the total purchase.  I am buying Super Performance Mesh that is normally $20/yard and with all the discounts will be $6/yard.  This stuff is awesome to add control panels in swimwear.

  13. Peggy, I love what you did to the jacket!  It's so chic now.  :)

I am making progress, finally, on the swimwear.  Regatta season is over and I had the whole weekend to work on the project.  The walking foot on my sewing machine is a game changer.  Swim fabric and liners are so slippery, and the walking foot is helping a bunch.  I am through with the elastic and gathering portion of the bikini tops...thank GOD!  My seam ripper got a lot of use there.  I am hoping by Sunday to have all 4 bikinis completed and to start on the swim tops/rash guards.  We leave on December 7th, so I must get to it.

    He is gorgeous!

We had a female Maine Coon, Daisy.  That's where my screen name comes from.  She was a brown tabby with white.  Very sadly we lost her to cancer at age 6.  We still miss her terribly.  We have 3 other cats, but I miss my Daisy.

One of our three is a calico too.

We lost Fargo's brother, Dakota, a year ago.  He was 9 and in renal failure.  Maine Coons are awesome cats and I missed my buddy, Dakota very much.
