  1. This was at our lunch reservation that this happened. We were told it was a change to the entire unlimited dining usage at Izumi Sushi - not just at lunch. No a la carte and the rolls are half size and no miso soup. A table of six next to us ordered the regular pre fixe menu and got soup, starter, normal rolls, and dessert. It is just impacting those with the unlimited dining it appears.
  2. On the Odyssey now. Everyone who likes sushi and books the unlimited dining package should know of a big change we were told happened within the last month. Previously (and as advertised on the website still) you could do a pre-fix menu ($34.99) which got you the miso soup, an app, two entrees (e.g., two rolls), and a desert - per person OR you could order $35/person a la carte. We always ordered a la carte because we just ordered up to $35/person worth of rolls - we enjoy the sushi more than the other things. We were informed by the waiter (and the manager confirmed) that you now MUST get the pre-fixe menu, there is no a la carte option. Further, you don’t get the miso soup AND the rolls are 4 pieces (half size). So now you just get an app, the equivalent of one roll, and a desert. The price of which is significantly less than $35 even if ordered a la carte! I showed them the website and they said there is really nothing to do, they can’t do a la carte credits, but they would send in a screenshot of the website (to someone).
  3. Not sure for the reason of sarcasm, I was trying to reiterate to the original poster (#1) what I wear with some level of description and what I’ve seen. Perhaps I can summarize it up for you in a manner that is perhaps less triggering or deserving of sarcasm while still being helpful to the original poster (still #1)? 1) I wear shorts and shirts that would not otherwise be worn in a gym; 2) Some people do wear clothes that would be worn in a gym and have been allowed to dine but it is not common so they look a bit more out of place because of their less common occurrence; and 3) RCL staff do still really seem to dislike swimwear. Same points. Less traumatic for some of you? Geesh.
  4. I regularly wear dressier shorts (ie no gym or, for me, even plain khaki shorts) and a collared shirt to all restaurants and I’ve never felt out of place or underdressed. I’ve seen people wearing mostly gym-level attire and they look out of place but still allowed. I will say I once just stopped by to check a dining time after the pool on my way to my room and after they answered me I was bluntly told that swimwear would not be allowed (they were not even open for a meal when I stopped by)! So there are some limits, lol. I was mildly offended to think that they believe I would wear damp swim clothes to the MDR but I bet some people would.
  5. Most of the 3 night dining packages I’ve seen have been on sale for $102. That makes it about $34/dinner. Much closer to the $20/dinner people are citing….. I wouldn’t pay full price for these dinners anymore either - but the packages can still provide some value.
  6. Hello fellow cruisers! Another UDP question for recent travelers: I went on the Odyssey of the Seas earlier this year and then the Wonder of the Seas before it went transatlantic. I had the UDP on the Odyssey and enjoyed the new concept Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen and the neighboring Giovanni’s wine bar. The wine bar had a la carte items and we were told we had (and we did use a couple different times) the $20 credit per person to apply to the a la carte menu. We did not have the UDP on the Wonder but the head server/bartender at the Giovanni’s wine bar told us in advance of ordering (and he told others throughout the cruise when they came in) that it is a beverage venue and, like the original vintages (which has not so great tapas vs real food from Giovanni’s IMHO), they do not honor the UDP. He even went on to talk about how he had opened/launched the new concept on the Odyssey before they moved him to the Wonder. I never pushed it because, as I said, I didn’t have the UDP for this sailing. I have a sailing coming up Jan 2022 on the Odyssey for 8 nights and am considering the UDP again but they don’t have a ton of restaurants for such a long cruise (I was only on 6 nights before) and I would be even more hesitant if the wine bar’s a la carte menu isn’t eligible anymore. Anybody have recent experience using the UDP in Giovanni’s wine bar?? Thanks for any help you may have!
