Still thinking a 3/4 day schedule with a second ship could workout. 3-day sailings would do an over night in Nassau while the 4-day sailing could do Bimini & Nassau.

True, but they would have to sail from a different port because the embarkation days would conflict with the 2 day ship

    Another Conquest.

I know, but I meant in their mind they proud of their decision to give New Orleans a ship that hasn't been there before.

And of course, Carnival knows what ports and ships are booking the best, so they put each class of ships in the best fits.😉 But hey, New Orleans has two ships year round, while some ports like Mobile has only one seasonal. (And its been a year since Ecstasy left)

  3. The new Grand Bahamas port  will be called Celebration Key!

    From Carnival Newsroom:

"Cue the Junkanoo band, drumroll please… Carnival Cruise Line has announced that the name of its new destination in the Bahamas is… Celebration Key™.

As Carnival gets ready to open itineraries in late September for cruises that will call on its highly-anticipated exclusive cruise port destination on Grand Bahama, it revealed the name – Celebration Key – to guests, employees, travel advisors and Bahamian officials today. Celebration Key is the first port destination exclusively designed for Carnival Cruise Line guests and its name is based on the vision for the destination to be a celebration of all that Carnival and The Bahamas has to offer for a memorable vacation. Once complete, it will be capable of welcoming two million guests each year.

“We are working very closely with the Government of The Bahamas and the Grand Bahama Port Authority to ensure that we are highlighting the best of Grand Bahama and its culture, combined with fun like only Carnival can provide,” said Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy. “Invoking the natural beauty of Grand Bahama, every day at Celebration Key will be a celebration of our guests’ own making with a variety of experiences and something for everyone.”

Grand Bahama is a northern island of The Bahamas and is known its breathtaking beaches, lush vegetation, and friendly people. Celebration Key will offer a uniquely Bahamian experience with an abundance of features and amenities, including a one-mile stretch of white-sand beach, as well as Bahamian-operated retail, food and beverage options for Carnival guests to enjoy. For the ultimate convenience and maximum enjoyment time, the adjacent cruise pier will be able to accommodate up to two of Carnival’s Excel-class ships simultaneously to allow guests to walk off the ship and arrive at Celebration Key. A groundbreaking ceremony for the destination was held in May 2022 and design, engineering and construction work is now underway.

In late September, Carnival plans to announce further details of the destination, along with opening for sale the first itineraries on at least ten ships from multiple homeports that will include a visit to Celebration Key, with the first cruises calling on the destination in July 2025."

If one "only" has Gold VIFP and does not purchase FTTF, but selects a check in right at  T-14 days when check in opens, any odds on getting an earlier (i.e. 11am or 12 noon) boarding time?  Debating going to the Tampa Children's museum before boarding if we get stuck with a late embarkation time, will make a decision once we know our actual boarding appointment time.

We always get up at midnight right when they are released to get the earliest arrival time. So far we have gotten it everytime. But then we have checked in the morning and early times were still available. You should definitely be able get to get your preferred arrival time at midnight. Maybe in the morning, but don't count on it being available in the morning. 😉

I suppose the ship wouldn't have to go international.  Maybe a Tampa to New Orleans, or a Tampa to Key West itinerary?

It would have to be US flagged

Only if they convince NCLH to sell them the Pride of America.  There is no other suitable ship that I know of that has a PVSA exemption.  Then they would have to staff it with US citizens.  Otherwise, a foreign port is required.

They allowed the German built Norwegian Sky to be American flagged for a few years. Also Norwegian Jade was American flagged for a few years too. So its possible for it to happen, but I think its very unlikely that Margaritaville would do it, let alone the chances of it approved by the US.

I checked one of the websites that tells you how many ships will be in port on the same day as your ship. I looked at our date for the Magic and it shows four ships that day!  Two Carnival and two Norwegian. I thought that this was a Carnival corporation port. Has anyone experienced four ships in this port at the same time?

Only Carnival Corporation ships dock in Amber Cove and the rest of the cruise lines dock at the nearby Taino Bay, which can dock 2 ships. Unfortunately, the schedule websites show it as one. Below on the map Amber Cove is on the right and Taino Bay is on the left

  7. Cruises through April 2025 are out, summer 2025 should be in October and November, then winter 2025 to 2026 should be December and January. Europe may or may not be in that timeline, because as posted above, 2024 Europe was released in March.

I was not being mean at all, maybe I could have been more clear.  The point was I really do not care.  Who is bigger, what the metrics of how they claim that, all of it.  They will certainly have bigger (and on a broad scale) newer ships.  If the mega line liners mean something to you then it is of much more importance.  To me, it means very little, hence the comment.

I misunderstood your comment. You were staying that you didn't care about what the article was saying, not that you didn't care about my comment. Sorry for my confusion. By the way, I agree with your view, what the article was saying didn't mean much to me either.
