  1. Same experience as above. It's a good cruise agency with excellent service, but I can't see any advantage in paying the 90 dollars. I just decline it, plus I also get a better deal than they offer on travel insurance by shopping around.
  2. It possibly relates to the number of Chilean citizens who overstayed their tourist or work visas.
  3. Well I thought no-one would get that. Yes, it is on the outskirts of Churchill on Hudson Bay in Canada. The 18th century fort was built by the Hudson Bay Company to protect their business from the French. The whole time we were there, we were accompanied by two local Inuit security officers with rifles, in case of lurking polar bears. We are wearing the red coverups because we had just been on a boat trip in the estuary to see beautiful white Beluga whales. A magic place, very remote, no roads in. Your turn, Lyndarra
  4. No, not Glastonbury. Here's another clue:
  5. Not correct. Sorry, I don't know where Gideon is.
  6. It's hard to find something. This one is very remote.
  7. Prairie Hotel, South Australia. Home of the ultimate roadkill plate.
  8. The Mall walkways at the Prudential Mall. Tammany Hall is an historical building which has an amazing piece of modern architecture added in the form of a glass "turtle" roof.
  9. Yes, the Chilean visa is difficult to get, though it looks like they are finally realising how much business and tourist traveller money they are losing, and are making some improvements. Persevere with it, because the cruise around the bottom of South America is one of the most scenic and interesting I have ever been on. Wish I was going again!
  10. I think it is the time of year (Australian winter) and the lack of other competition leaving from Australian ports at that time. I'm booked on a Carnival cruise in August, and it is also listed as 'sold out'. I like getting away to warmer places in winter without having to fly long distance somewhere . Maybe the success of the Carnival offerings June to September will encourage other cruise lines to base ships in Australia then?
  11. The lobster meat was excellent, but the sauce was very buttery and too spicy for my taste. Lobster doesn't deserve to have its delicate flavour overwhelmed.
  12. For a comparison, Lobster on HAL Oosterdam in December. FOUR lobster tails. I could have done without the accompanying Brussels sprouts though.
  13. Well it's not Easter Island. Is it one of the ones on the Bondi Sculpture trail?
  14. Yes, I read the description. It's just not what I want. Back to the drawing board.
  15. Problem is that the tour currently offered only goes to one winery, plus things I'm not interested in, like the distillery. There is a private tour that goes to four wineries, but that's the one where they want full payment and no refund for cancellation. The ship's excursion is to different destinations.
  16. Moreton Island has some of the largest artificial reefs in the world, with multiple shipwrecks to explore.. It provides excellent snorkelling.
  17. I'd still like to go on a small group tasting excursion, but not if I have to pay in advance and could lose all my money. As a fall back position, I'm thinking of hiring a small car. They will apparently deliver to the port. It will cost about the same for one person as the excursion. I'll have to find out what their policy is if I don't make it ashore. If I can find a second person to share the hire cost, I'd be well ahead and could go to wherever I want. Unfortunately, no-one is joining in the CC roll call, so that won't work.
  18. Yes, it is Moorea island, seen from the harbour departing from Papeete in a glorious sunset on the Grand Princess. Your turn.
  19. It's an actual person who takes your luggage and takes it out the back to a storeroom somewhere. They get you to take a photo on your phone of your luggage before they take it away. When you get back you have to show ID and the photo. I think it is secure. The entrance is next to a restaurant, and it is well signposted.
  20. Would you mind looking to see if you can just book a shore excursion once you are on land?
  21. Yes I have used Bounce. Best to book, because sometimes they reach capacity when a cruise ship is in.
