There is absolutely no data on spread from vaccinated individuals.  Yes, they can get it but the data on spread is not complete.  Is there a chance?  Probably.  But very, very, vary rare according to public data.  As of now, with collected data so far, one dose of the vaccine halves transmission.  Two doses pretty much wipes out any chance of transmission.  Possible?  Yes.  Rare though.  Only time will tell and we will see what will happen with the variants.

Thanks you posting actual facts provided and backed by the science community and not some personal opinion presented as being the truth.

Dr. Fauci has NOT said that. Please see this article with Dr. Fauci's email statments. You must have misconstrued his words. Read about it here......

Dr. Fauci said masks not really effective KEEPING OUT VIRUS

In a nutshell.....Dr. Fauci is saying masks are NOT for protection but to keep an infected person from spreading the virus. The reason we were all told to wear masks is to protect others from someone who may be asymptomatic and not even be aware they could be spreading the virus. That mask blocks droplets and aerosols and minimizes transmission of the virus.

    Who is Dr Fauci?

They are foreign flagged vessels which have their own rules when you are inside the ship.  Federal law is the only thing that applies inside the ship with the exception of alcohol sales or if they state determines there is a direct threat to the state from the ship.  Again well laid out in the constitution in the commerce clause and case precedent.  A cruise is considered foreign commerce and the constitution only gives Congress the powers to regulate that.  That's why there is this sweet thing called a cruise contract you have to sign before boarding the ship where you give all your rights away and if you don't you cannot board.  Once on the ship its federal laws with the 2 exception I mentioned above.

I think both sides are correct to an extent. I work for a company that does business at a state owned port. All ships that come into that port abide by state dock laws. State dock laws do not have anything to do with what happens on board that ship. But they control everything about how the ship is docked, the products added or removed and personnel who can board & debarked from that docked ship. The Coast Guard oversees anything involving water vessels no matter what flag that vessel flies. Immigration Control also has authority over non US citizens leaving docked vessels.

Going back to schools which has caused major upswings in cases was wrong, allowing citizens to remove our mask prior to really studying the efficacy of the vaccines was wrong and not being considerate of others by not wearing your mask when advised is wrong. We are trying to move faster than the Experts are suggesting. Are we really that desperate as a Country for money? The love of money is a root to evil. Let's take our time, let the processes work for everyone's safety and lets eventually Cruise again. Stop Rushing The Process Please!!!

I disagree /with / everything / posted. In a respectful way of course, since it’s your right to believe which ever way you choose.

Yet other countries have been cruising for months.  It's our country that is slow to open up an entire industry.

Well, it is about the only thing left they can control. What good will they be without having something they can control? Its pretty obvious they have no intentions of doing the job they should be doing.

Isn't Carnival supposed to announce their protocols by May 31 or did they change that?

It will be great if they do. Then we can end these idiotic ideas of how “certain” U.S. citizens need to be treated. It’s embarrassing to read how much we’ve forgotten about the history of our existence as a country.

Someone on a ship will take a picture and send it to the CDC and the CDC will shut the cruise line down. Don't you get it, if on a unvaccanated cruise MASKS WILL BE REQURED FOR ALL. If the Cruise lines do not enforce it they will get shut down permantly by the CDC it's noot a State thing it's a fedral thing.

It’s scary what this virus has done to some.

If you are on the ship, and a mob takes off there masks at the very next stop if not in port they WILL be debarked and have to find your own way home at your own cost. If you are still in the home port or it happens close you will be debarked with no refund. If Carnival or any other operator does not do this the CDC will shut them dowm.

Carnival has never been about attracting a desirable traveler. That is for other cruise lines. Carnival puts the mass in mass market and I love Carnival, Walmart, Pork Rinds and a good party on the Lido Deck.

    Ahhhh, the Lido deck party!

I guess the odds are pretty easy to call on this. After COVID, will people be grateful enough for their freedom, their comforts and the luxury and value of the cruise industry to APPRECIATE AND ENJOY their trips, or will it be right back to the old grumbles about "inedible" food (spoken only by people who have never been hungry), "filthy" ships (by people who have never been in a truly filthy environment), and the endless list of offenses, complaints, and disappointments?

How many days after the ships sail before we see our first "NEVER AGAIN" review?

The only complaint I’ve had about a cruise is going to Progresso. Other than that I’ve always enjoyed all my cruises.

They will attract more desirable travelers w a vax mandate. It's not really about you as a person getting sick vs the ship having to quarantine in their rooms for 23 hours a day.

Also, for those of us who use travel insurance, I suspect they will not cover unvaccinated people starting soon. It's a no-brainer.

    What is a desirable traveler?

Our first time with the drink package.  I understand what is not included in the package and the 15 drink rule.  What happens if we want to buy a bottle of bubbly, a drink of the day, a floater or a bucket of beer?  Can we just pay for that separately?

I'm not sure why you would want to buy a bucket of beer if you have cheers. But I think the 15 alcoholic drinks a day/person is enforced whether you buy it or use cheers.

  13. It’s funny reading all the post when it really doesn’t matter. And I’ve been guilty of participating also. But the truth is if Carnival doesn’t require a vaccination you can either cruise or not. It’s everybody’s own choice. If they do require one everybody will either get one or not cruise. It’s just that simple. Either way I’m cruising and will not complain.

  14. We were scheduled for your cruise but switched to the Madi Gras in 2022. I think you may see some changes as Carnival has already said cruises won’t be longer than 7 days when things get going again. That will probably eliminate St Martin since it is the furthest travel distance. We were able to transfer our OBC from a 2020 cancelled cruise so everything worked out other than we won’t get the same ports. But the Madi Gras is a big upgrade.

I'll just toss on here since there doesn't seem to be a firm answer as far as policy that I have seen people bring soda back on board from the port and it not be confiscated and it was canned. I don't think they'd be super concerned. That said, I think the "soda package" (it includes some other stuff) is around 5-6 dollars per day per person so like 40 dollars tops per person for a seven day cruise so it might be worth it to run the time versus cost numbers and see if that wouldn't be better overall. You'll save time running back and forth to your room and definitely save time in the ports of call which may or may not have six packs of soda within easy reach. I don't know but it seems like it could eat up port time making soda runs but I get economizing to allocate money on other things so there's that consideration too.

If you do the bottomless bubbles do you get can sodas or is it fountain drinks in a glass?

I think there will be some lasting changes long after the pandemic. Cruise lines, and for that matter countries, were ill prepared to deal with the virus. We aren't close to the end of this pandemic, but hopefully will be better prepared for the next one. There will be a new normal.

I agree there will be some lasting changes. But i think we are close to the end with this one. I also think we need to fully investigate how this whole mess started. We need the full cooperation from all foreign countries. If things were done improper there should be some accountability.

Between a rock and a hard place. My wife and I would be very happy to show that we have received our vaccination. I would think most would not have a problem with that. DeSantis has told the industry basically what you just said. Don't like it, leave. That is not what I expected from him at all. He must change that and let the cruise industry check for proof of vaccine. The cruise industry was plastered against the wall when the virus broke out on the ships. People started suing the cruise lines. I think precautions that they want to do is in line with cruising in a safe environment.

Or maybe the CDC can just drop their stupid restrictions that do nothing
