How so? Or are you being sarcastic?
One side of the political spectrum claims voter ID requirements are a form of racism because minorities are not able to obtain them. In order to get a vaccine (along with just about anything else you try to do in the USA) you must have some form or ID. Passports are a form of ID. So I wouldn't really call it sarcasm, just pointing out the hypocrisy we're dealing with in today's society.

Hopefully they will require all passengers and crew to be vaccinated before boarding the ship.
We rescheduled for September 2022. Everything will be done and over by then. Cruising will be back to normal. Mask will be for Halloween.

We’re rebooked for September 2022.

I kicked my can all the way to September 2022. The vaccine should be in full force by then and hopefully politics won’t play into the equation.

Those that have been around here for a while know that this is how it starts. Soon to be gone.

I think I am tired of everyone saying don't worry about it. I think if Carnival cancelled a cruise almost 2 months ago there is no excuse for asking for final payment now. These emails are just causing too much confusion and it can't be that hard to correct it.
Delete is your friend. Unnecessary stress is not.

I dont want to be augmentative, but I was going on your first sentence.
I believe Carnival will continue cancelling cruises as they have been until a vaccine is available or the virus dies out. The die out does not seem likely.
You stated its not likely the virus will die out. So that leaves canceling cruises until there is a vaccine. Your words, not mine.
There have been numerous discussions here on possible solutions and it's ultimately not up to our suggested solutions. We will just have to wait to see how it plays out. In the end. I hope we all get to cruise again soon.
I guess the point is I'm not waiting, but I think Carnival is waiting. So you mis-read my words

If you are waiting for a vaccine, then be prepared to wait years before you cruise. Even after that, a vaccine won't protect against any evolved strains of the Corona virus. They are already seeing mutations of the virus. Then there are people who don't get vaccines for various reasons. If you are thinking this virus will be eliminated, you are mistaken.
Never said I was waiting for a vaccine. I said I don't think Carnival will start cruising until this virus dies out or there is a vaccine.
Doesn't have to be eliminated, just not nearly as prevalent as things are at this time. For those not wanting a vaccine I completely understand. Maybe there can be some non vaccinated cruises a couple times a year for those individuals. The only other alternative is everybody get the virus and create a natural immunity (which means it dies out) or we just open things up and accept the consequences. Which would make all the cancellations look pretty stupid at this point. Mine is just an opinion. But I would challenge everyone to not just post reasons why you disagree but to also offer possible solutions for discussion.

I believe Carnival will continue cancelling cruises as they have been until a vaccine is available or the virus dies out. The die out does not seem likely. While it seemed impossible a couple of months ago, the earliest start time will probably be March / April 2021. Hopefully Carnival can stay afloat. Some cruise lines will not.

If that's something that interests you, then you should look at one of the "Sailabration" cruises in March, 2022. They're special cruises to celebrate Carnival's 50th birthday. There are several ships that are participating and on each one of their itineraries, they'll participate in a Fun Ship Meetup at Sea. Multiple ships will come together out on the ocean to celebrate. There will be 5 Meetups. Three of them will include 3 ships, one will have 6 ships, and another will have 7 ships. We'll be on the Sunrise. 🙂 You can read more about it here: https://www.carnival.com/carnival-sailabration-cruises.aspx
I read about that earlier. I really don't understand the idea behind it. Ships will stop close to each other and do what? How is that a celebration? Seem like a waste of good travel time to me.

What are your thoughts when you see a woman in her 60’s, not in bad shape at all and she obviously wears clothes from like Forever 21? I know that’s where the outfit comes from as my Niece wore one like it. Do you think it’s a bit to young of a 60 year old to wear such clothing?
I think everybody has to be true to themselves and not worry about what everybody else feels is appropriate. But then again I’m not big on judging others by their choice of appearance.

I'm with you we have been to just about every island numerous times. Going to pull the trigger on an August cruise, if we can't port will make the best of it. We had an 8 day on horizon with only 2 ports. It was the most relaxing cruise ever.
What in the world did I you do for the other 6 days without port stops?

Grand Turk was my favorite stop. I love the beach and GT has one of the best. I will hate it if our up coming trip there is moved.

If you fly into MIA or FLL, there is no need to rent a car, even with flying into the day before (which we always do). Airport shuttle and/or Uber/Lyft does the deal very nicely and either of the aforementioned airports are close to their corresponding cruise ports.
We are flying into Miami but still get a rental. The cost is only $50 a day and we get to visit beaches and dine where we like for 2 days before the cruise. We will use Uber to get to the terminal.

I approach every thread by reading the title. That gives me an idea of what the thread is about. With that information I’m able to decide whether I want to select and read or just simply skip to the next thread. Works every time and is a great practice for all forums not just CruiseCritic.

I expect the dividend and OBC from stock shares will have to go away for a few years while they recover.
Dividends will be cut for while but why would Carnival cut a good marketing tool like OBC? In a time when passengers are needed it does not make sense.

If she is booked in your room no problem. If she has a different room she’ll wait.

Thank you for addressing the elephant Ray. While I am able to work from home l definitely see and agree with your post. Thanks to all the essential workers and their sacrifice. We must do it wisely but we must get moving forward.

This is what bothers me about limiting capacity in certain businesses. At what point of only breaking even will they shut down the businesses. They are in the business to make a profit.
Breaking even or maybe losing a little temporarily will be better than total loss until we can get this thing fixed. Remember, as soon as a vaccine is in place everything gets reset. At least until China does something stupid again.

No different then a sea day.
Going to disagree with you on this. Sea day has all kinds of other events taking place on the ship. Many places where people can visit. Some don’t leave their room. Not so much on embankment day. Everyone is crammed on the Lido deck. It’s a cluster. Plus you have your carry on bags so that limits you even more.

There cannot be any type of effective 'social distancing' on a cruise ship. It would be an impossible task, IMO.
You completely missed the point

Our next sail date is 9/10/22. With the vaccine and herd immunity, everything will be back to pre-covid sailing at that time. End of worries. (Unless we get a new bat/lab virus)
