  1. In general, if you compare all of the mass market cruise lines, Carnival and MSC usually come out ahead as being the cheapest if you're looking for a bare bones, no frills choice. Of course there are some exceptions to this rule and if you're a gambler, that's a whole other can of worms.
  2. That's certainly true. You need to know what ships you're comparing. If you pick a Breakaway Plus Class ship or a Prima Class ship on NCL they have much more to offer than the Fantasy or Spirit Class ships of Carnival.
  3. Anybody can buy a cruise first certificate for NCL they run 150 for 300 and sometimes 250 for 500. So you automatically save 150 or 250 per cabin.
  4. Out of curiosity, you specifically mention "your assessment of value". If your response was to a post earlier in this thread, it would have been nice if you quoted it so the readers could have some specific context as to whom your rant was aimed at. Similar to how I quoted your post with my response.
  5. Sure that wasn't sea day brunch that ends at 12 noon? Journey cruises are the only ones I'm aware of that sometimes have the MDR open for lunch.
  6. I would infer that possibly the passenger mix would have influence on whether there was a long wait or not. Europeans tend to eat later and while sailing in Europe the lines could be long around the 730-800 time frame. When cruising in the Caribbean, more Western Hemisphere passengers would be on board and the dinner eating patterns could skew earlier with many of the cruisers. Just a thought.
  7. I think that's a big assumption that the elevators could be able to recalibrate and override what the cruiser typed into the touchpad.
  8. Had read on another thread that there was one location that was free, so I'd infer that the deck 9 location is indeed free. We're more concerned about if we can swap out the sundae monstrosities included with the plus package for something cheaper and more civilized like an affagato.
  9. No, but if another family of four are already on the elevator and they only pushed the button once, the system thinks that it's one passenger instead of four already on the elevator.
  10. These smart elevators are on the 3 Vista Class ships on Carnival. Word of mouth and YouTube videos were how people got educated about the proper use of the elevators.
  11. At coffee and cones, the premium soft serve is 4.00 for everyone unless you have the Premier package. Verified by a YouTube video.
  12. We've been on Royal twice post Covid, on the Anthem and the Oasis. Both times MTD started at 630 and if you didn't have reservations, you were waiting in a line that was massive. Have also sailed on Celebrity, Princess, Carnival, NCL and MSC post COVID and all of these lines handle their versions of MTD substantially better than Royal.
  13. I will infer that someone who is a friend of a person staying in that area could illegally be able to enter without having a cabin in that section and this crasher would be taking up loungers that they are not supposed to be in.
  14. Saw on the Patter that the American Diner (deck 8 of MDR) is open from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Is this every day or just at sea days? If it's every day, it is perfect for brunch as well as another sit down option besides Alfredo's for lunch. It would alleviate the need to have to go to the Eatery or the Lido deck for lunch. Also, I had read that Coffee Currents was supposed to have a Nitro Cold Brew Coffee on tap. Could you possibly confirm this when you walk past? Thank you.
  15. The menu posted was the Reserve Dining Room, not the MDR. I would infer that the MDR would still have the Grand Marnier Souffle.
  16. When the steward returned the scooter the following morning, where did he leave the scooter? Can't put it inside the cabin since the scooter won't fit. Can't leave it in the hallway, since that's a fire hazard.
  17. Just because you don't see any scooters in the hallway of your deck in between the elevator bank and where your cabin is located doesn't mean that there aren't any scooters illegally parked in the hallway of other decks on your cruise.
  18. It has nothing to do with the size of the scooter. It has to do whether said scooter will fit inside the cabin or not. Sometimes stuff happens and after a reservation of a regular cabin has been made those occupants may need to rent a scooter. They do so without knowing that the scooter will not fit in the doorway so they leave the scooter in the hallway, which is technically a fire hazard. Have seen scooters parked in the hallways all of the time on every mass market line we sail on. Glad to hear that Carnival is finally enforcing the rules.
  19. At least you didn't have to worry about a nasty shower curtain clinging to your butt.
  20. If the new drink is 18.00, you'll pay 3.00, plus 0.54 gratuity per drink. If you drink 4 of them, that's over 14.00. You might as well just get the Premier package and pay 20.00 per day.
  21. The Premier package goes up to 20.00 per drink I believe. It's another 40 per day per couple, but does include two specialty dinners per person as well as unlimited casual dining experiences.
  22. On our previous 28 days on the Discovery and Majestic we never made it to Crooners since we loved Good Spirits at Sea so much, especially their 530-1130 menu from around the world. We'll be on the Sun for 14 days over Halloween and we'll expand our drinking locations to include Crooners.
