  1. Oh man, I'm so sorry for your loss. From the emailing's back and forth with you, you seem to be a very caring guy and giving of your time to help others. You both were lucky to have each other. I'm sure you will morn for a long time to come and you will never forget but you will heal with time. If there is anything we can do for you, please just give me an email and I'll/we'll be there to assist in any way possible. Jay
  2. I taught my daughters to be proud of what they are, who they are and their social conservatism. Look, I don't care what adults do in adult settings. If a gal want so show me her stuff, I'll look and probably have a smile on my face. I'm no prude when it comes to adult stuff. But, when it involves my kids (which are all grown up and responsible, in good moral standings with the communities they live in) and gkids, I have not tolerance for immoral public displays. There is a time and a place for everything, some of the behavior in many social settings, including a cruise ship pool area is not my cup of tea and not what I expect to find on a "family friendly" venue, period. There are cruise lines that offer adult only bookings and I wouldn't mind booking one for myself and my wife. If you want to be proud of your body and show off every inch of it, join a nudists colony or go to topless beaches or whatever, as long as it isn't accessible to kids. If we have no standards, we will have chaos. We need rules, policies, laws, and a code of morality standards. Some will like them, some won't, it's a fact of like. I will happen to err on the side of a less tolerant moral society. Note: I'm no bible thumper either. I'm a believer, not a goer.
  3. Nope, never thought that way. And my kids and Gkids are very well centered and emotionally stable adults and teens. Both my daughters are very successful in the medical and electronic fields.
  4. You know, because of the boards rules I can't respond the way I want to. I'll just say that the two of you just don't get it. It's about standards of conduct in public places and just look around at our inner cities and see how much we have deteriorated in the past few decades because of people that think that, "well that's just the way it is". It doesn't have to be "the way it is" and I'm hoping for a big change in the very near future. BTW, my two kids were brought up in the military and Law Enforcement environment. They were not shielded from too many things. BUT, they have never heard the F bomb come out of my mouth, even as adult children today. I don't purposefully take my kids/gkids to Fantasy Fest just so they can experience it for themselves, they can do that on their own when they get to be adults. Nor would I take them to San Francisco, LA, et al, today. They are now adults and they will not go to Key West to watch that fiasco or the cities mentioned. I go and take my kids/gkids on a cruise fully expecting a "family friendly" experience any place on the ship except where it is pre-advertised as "Adult Only". But, you are right, this does trigger me, the lack of standards triggers me! This is how I raise my kids and when my gkids are on vacation with us, I want to not have to explain to them that that guy with his junk or gal with her boobs hanging out is what we would consider as okay. I shouldn't have to do that in a "family friendly venue and I will do everything in my power, legally, to have Royal enforce societal norms/rules/standards.
  5. Our favorite as well. But, we will cruise on Quantum.
  6. I'm a people watcher. I love the 70s, 80s, or 90s in the Promenade and I enjoy the Quest for the same reason. I don't care if it's the same old questions and if people bring in bags of crap, I like to watch the people having fun.
  7. Well, it does look like they've put some paint on the floor and walls. The garage pictured is not the garage next to terminal 29. It's next to, or just to the east of Royal's main terminal. When I was there, that garage was called the "MidPort" garage, not Palm. They are trying to keep up with the Airport's naming of the garages with tropical themes.
  8. Yep: Does Royal Caribbean charge a corkage fee? https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/charge-corkage-fee Guests who consume their personal wine and champagne in public areas, will incur a $15 corkage fee per bottle. Guests wishing to bring personal wine and champagne onboard may do so only on boarding day, limited to two (2) 750 ml bottles per stateroom. No beer or hard liquor may be brought onboard for consumption. Additional bottles of wine beyond two (2) bottles that are brought onboard or any alcoholic beverages purchased in ports of call or from onboard shops during the cruise vacation
  9. Many people in here will tell you, and I believe them, that they have never been charged a "corking fee" for bringing their own wine on the ship. So, just be forewarned that it is a policy of Royal's that there is a "corking fee" of $15.00 if consumed in public spaces. And you can bring 2 bottles of wine (750 ml each,) per stateroom on board.
  10. Yes, if they are way beyond reasonable. I have certain societal standards for my underage kids and grandkids. I don't think boobs hanging out of bathing suits are appropriate. I don't think pubic hair growing out of bathing suit bottoms is appropriate. I don't think pants should be hanging below one's butt is appropriate. I don't think speedos that show every detail of a man's junk is appropriate. Your milage may vary and I don't care. This is my opinion and desires. You can be triggered all you want, I DON'T CARE.
  11. I'm retired from being the General Manager of the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport parking facilities and at Port Everglades Cruise Terminals and Convention Center. I can tell you that we never use Terminal #29 the entire time I was there for Passenger Cruises. It's old and very run down, unless they refurbished it since I retired in 2005.
  12. I'm with you. I find a lot of what people wear as disgusting. But, I don't care what others wear. It's not going to change the taste of my meal or the temperature of the pool water. The only thing that bothers me sometimes is the immoral clothing or lack thereof. Some of the swimwear is far too revealing for my comfort level and pants below the butt with my grandkids present just ain't right. I think Royal and Carnival should do a better job of policing some the the immoral and/or revealing clothing. It's not just disgusting, it's immoral, period. And they are the ones that say they are family friendly! Well, prove it, Royal and Carnival. Make it so I don't have to turn around and leave, with the gkids because of the immorality of things.
  13. If you do the dispute, you don't have to worry about payment until it is resolved. If you win, the debt is removed, if you lose, you owe the principle and interest. I've never lost a legitimate (not that I've ever filed a dispute that was not legitimate) dispute.
  14. Personally, I'd always dispute the charges with the credit card company, first. Then I'd call Royal and let them know about the repeated chargers. They'll have plenty of time to correct it before the dispute hits their desk. If they give you credit back right away, call the credit card company and let them know that all is well and drop the disputed charges. Easy Peasy! 🙄 This is an example of why I tell my adult kids and Gkids to always use a credit card and not a debit card, federal protections. Having said all that. I'm sure Royal will correct the issue for you, immediately. Although it takes, usually, a few days to a week or so for a credit to show up in your C.C. account.
  15. Fortunately, the "big box" TA that I use uses brackets for their OBCs. The spread between the upper and lower amounts within the brackets is a fairly large. On our Jan 2024 cruise we are at the top of the bracket so I don't think a price reduction would effect our OBC:
  16. I totally agree, I never pay off a cruise until 90, 91, maybe 92 days out. But, she was very specific about the "not paid off" part. Doesn't matter right now for us, our Star Class Cruise isn't until Jan 24, and it looks like all the Star Class are sold out, already. We can only hope that some block are returned to Royal. Well, see.
  17. Well, I just called our TA and she said that as long as you owe money on a cruise, (that's outside the final payment time frame) than you can still get any price drops, if any. So, even though I can't find an official source for it, it is as you stated. That makes me happy.
  18. Thanks, but that is exactly what I posted above.
  19. I don't doubt what you posted, not one bit, and I'm not trying to start an argument. But, I like to see such things in official form. Do you know where I can find where it says that. Thanks in advance for a prompt response
  20. We tip the Genie $100.00 per person! It can go up or down, depending on the Genie and his/her service!
  21. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/best-price-guarantee-policy "Spot a better price on your booked cruise? Our Best Price Guarantee lets you take advantage of a better price within 48 hours from the time you booked— just give us a call or use our online form. You’ll receive the difference as a non-refundable onboard credit inside final payment or rate adjustment outside final payment".
  22. I found that the Freestyle machines on the Independence, in the Promenade always had error messages on one or the other or both. I don't think I ever saw both working at the same time. I don't think the crew could keep up with their popularity/usage. I don't remember seeing any issues with the machines in the WJ, though. The biggest problem I, repeat, I had was being behind one or more people, young and old, that had no clue how to use the machines. Some would just stand there and look at the machines like a deer in headlights. Others looked like they were waiting for a cup to drop out of the machine.
