  1. I'm guessing that if you are trying to bring on carry-on luggage that is too big for the scanners, you'd be provided with 2 options, maybe more that I haven't thought about, 1. Allow them to open and physically/visually inspect the contents or 2. Let them run it through the baggage scanners like all else and deliver it to your room, whenever. Oh, there may be a third, the attendant/employee doesn't care and just take it around the scanner because it is a hassle for him/her, which, I hope is very doubtful/unlikely.

  3. I'm hoping that that holiday doesn't affect sailings out of Galveston, that's the week we are cruising out of there, Jan 14 - Jan 21, 2021. I understand it's more of an east coast thing. I don't have a problem with the religious holiday, just the masses of kids. I booked my cruise long before I ever heard of this holiday. I love most kosher foods, BTW.
  4. Well, not since they have reconfigured the stemenee switch on the oversized ahm nomitator and disconnected the unulengating capacitor and reconnected it to piggy back on the mortisfortis resister aray.
  5. We're booked on the Harmony in Jan 2024, out of Galveston. It is very hard to book a room on it already. However, I wouldn't give up, check often. I'm not sure but I believe that there was or possibly still is, a time that TAs (ma & pop TAs and big box TAs) could block off several cabins, and if they don't get sold by X amount of days, they are returned to the cruise line for sale. No matter what, I'd keep checking. Anything may happen.
  6. Don't know how badly you want to upgrade. But, if it was me, I'd bid the minimum and hope for the best. If you get it, it's a win win. If you don't, you haven't lost anything.
  7. We absolutely love the Aqua Theatre Suites. But, if mobility is an issue for anyone, it is a long walk from the closest elevator(s) to the suite door, especially if you've been moving/walking around all day. I once cruised shortly (about a month) after total knee replacement, it hurt but I wouldn't change a thing, well worth the pain. My only suggestion is if someone picks an ATS, if someone has a real mobility issue, rent or bring a mobility scooter.
  8. EDITED IN: Disregard the first Para below, you're comment was about $100.00 Per day! Which I don't find fault with, BTW. First, I was not bragging, if that has anything to do with my post above. There was a question and I answered with a fact, what we do. YMMV To answer the OP questions about Alexa, which is probably way outdated now. We cruised on the Ovation last May, Alaska cruise. We went through 3 Genies, the first two, the excuse why we lost them was that they hurt their ankle playing Basketball, at separate times, a day apart. I don't believe that for a minute, but that's for another time, another thread. I believe it was COVID. Anyway, to make a long story short, our last Genie was named Alexa, we were told that that was her first cruise as a "full-fledged" Genie and that she was going to be the only Genie for the remaining cruise. That meant that she was going to take care of 8 Star Class suites. She was great, didn't miss a beat, and showed up everywhere we were to make sure everything was exceptional. On the last day, though, she looked beat. I felt bad for her.
  9. We always give the Genie $100.00 per person, minimum, if we are at least 4 people in the suite. If only the two of us, a minimum of $400.00 anyway, but we haven't cruised Star Class with less than 4 people in the suite, yet.
  10. Good question! I'd suggest you ask their non-parenting parents.
  11. Live webcams from all over the Caribbean are helpful for those that want to see the condition of their favorite beaches. I like this website for that purpose: http://www.larrysvacationwebcams.com/ Curacao, groomed:
  12. Just an FYI, this is a screen shot of Galveston, yesterday at about 6:15 PM. See the seaweed line. The other screen shot is from just now. Groomed!
  13. I'm not sure if the tour is any different that the ones you can purchase directly from the Center. But, this is the website that explains the different tours available for KSC. https://www.kennedyspacecenter-tickets.com/kennedy-space-center-tours/ I took a tour of the place and it was fantastic. It was about ~20 years ago and I know a lot has changed, some additions and some discontinued items. I've heard, but I don't know for sure, that they no longer have tours to the original control center (a lot smaller than it looked on TV), demolished, which was the highlight of the tour for me. It was the original center Mercury and Gemini missions, for sure. Also, discontinued a few of the original launch pads and "block houses". Regardless, it is well worth the time, effort, and cost, in my opinion.
  14. Ya, whatever. Seaweed is taking over the world and we humans aren't smart enough to deal with it, got it! We don't have the brains or equipment to groom tourist destinations/venues, got it. I'm going back to my cave now. See ya. You're not getting what I'm saying for one reason or another. So, let's end this here.
  15. There is a whole post that you conveniently left out, see above ^. The condition in that picture didn't get like that overnight and I explained why. And my comments, ALL of them are in reference to tourist venues, not a deserted island somewhere. I stand by my reasoning that "THAT" photo was an ungroomed beach, not a tourist venue (if it is, don't go back), and so on. It's not rocket science here. Groomed beaches are, well, they're Groomed beaches. They don't look like the one in that picture, and if they do, don't go back.
  16. Okay, okay. Did I ever say it didn't/couldn't?
  17. BTW, I'd like to do a round trip B2B to Europe also. But, I've been informed that it's not likely to find a cruise like that. The same may hold true for Hawaii, as well.
  18. I don't disagree with you. However, that has nothing to do with my premise.
  19. THAT didn't happen overnight! Zoom in on the picture, and look at the right at the palm line. You can see that there is a distinct line of grayish color seaweed and rust-colored seaweed. The grayish seaweed is decaying. Something that takes several days to accomplish. Therefore, this picture is misleading if its intent is to show that a well-groomed beach, at a tourist venue, has been inundated with seaweed. Grooming of a beach if done properly is a continuous process, not a once-a-week or day activity. It is done as needed. This is obviously not a tourist venue, if so, it shouldn't be. AND, I didn't say that that couldn't happen anywhere, just not at a well-groomed beach in a well-managed tourist venue, and if it does, don't go back.
  20. An ungroomed beach, for sure. That didn't just happen overnight. Misleading photo. As I stated, if the beach at a tourist venue is ungroomed, don't go back. Grooming should be an ongoing activity, not just once a week, day activity, it should be done, "as needed". This is far too late. I don't think that is a picture of Miami/Ft. Lauderdale beach, do you?
  21. Same as us. That's where we started. Then one day, I asked my wife if she would like to try another line. She was all for it. So, our first cruise on RCCL was a Sky Class cruise (Grand Suite). We finally realized what service and suites are all about. We have since cruised many Star class cruises and a few Balcony Cabins on RCCL. To us, there is no comparison between suite classes on Rustbucket and RCCL. My wife went on a Princess Alaska cruise with her mom. It was on her mom's bucket list of things to do before she passed. This was before our RCCL conversion. My wife was not impressed. Her mother slept through most of the cruise LOL. I'll give her credit for reaching down deep into her soul and taking the trip, as sick as she was. We took the Alaska cruise on the Ovation last May. Many things went wrong because it was one of the first cruises post-COVID. But, my wife thoroughly enjoyed it much better than the Princess cruise. But, that's her/us. I'm not trying to tell you, you should not like Princess, not one bit. It's your thing. Enjoy!
  22. That's good news and hope the transpacific cruises are the same. I've never wanted to go to Hawaii, but I'd like to do a B2B Hawaiian cruise. I'm waiting on the day that the Oasis Class, or larger, ships cruise regularly like that and the financial situation is right.
  23. I can not and will not ever say that company's name, unless by mistake. I usually refer to it as "Rustbucket Cruise Lines) (Which has nothing to do with rust) but it seems to trigger some folks.
  24. I'm sure you know but just in case you don't, Princes has the same parent company as Cunard. As of right now, I'm still loyal to Royal. However, my wife read me a post, this morning, from one of the other cruising social media sites that concerned me greatly. I'm still trying to verify that information so, I'll not repeat it here, yet. If true, it will be a big game changer for me. Don't know if it will be the straw that broke the camel's back, we'll see.
