  1. Hi, can you please tell me what we can expect visiting Labadee? We're not really interested in booking any excursions at this port. Will there be non-fee beach chairs available? Or do we have to rent everything?

Are there things to do that doesn't cost extra? Any tips on what to bring a shore?

    Thank you!

Labadee is one of our favorite stops simply because it's relaxing and easy!

We've never booked an excursion there because we are beach people and find it's nice to have a stop where we don't have to spend any money! (We do tip the guy who sets up our chairs for us, but other than that we don't usually spend anything)

Bring whatever you would normally bring when you go to a beach. Towels(from the ship), sunscreen, sunglasses, something to read, etc.

Lunch will be provided in a few different areas. If for some reason you don't like what they have just walk back to the ship and eat there. You can then go back to the beach if you wish.

There are trams to take you to the different beaches but it really isn't a long walk if you wish to just do that.

There are typical touristy shopping areas if you wish.

    Have fun!

  2. We immediately headed to park cafe for the famous roast beef sandwich. We were the first ones there so it wasn't crowed but it did fill up pretty quickly. After a quick bite to eat we headed to the aqua theater to watch the football playoff game. Around half time we walked over to the dog haus on the boardwalk and grabbed some hot dogs to eat while watching the rest of the game.

There are plenty of places to grab something to eat so if the windjammer is packed just take a walk and I'm sure you will find something!

  3. On Allure they showed it on the screens in the aqua theater and also in the On Air Club. There were lots of people wearing their team apparel. It was a great time, unfortunately the Muster drill was right at the last half hour of our game so they had to shut the game off. We watched the end of the game on our phone while waiting for everyone to show up for the drill.

    GO PACK GO!!!

  4. If you get to the port at 10:30 you are not going to be waiting in lines for 2 hours! Get there early, get on the ship early and start relaxing! Just because some people like to sleep in and get to the port later doesn't mean the rest of us are lying or "fudging" our timelines. Sure there can be delays that might make boarding a little later but that isn't the norm.

Embassy and Hyatt Place are across the street from each other. Pick one of those hotels as a meeting place at a certain time and then hop in some cabs. Easy Peasy. Actually what would be even easier is to just meet at the port at a certain time but I know you said you want to all arrive together.....

  5. We stayed at Embassey suites for our last cruise. The morning of embarkation we walked down through the mob of people and luggage waiting to board the shuttle and out the front door. Walked over to the taxi stand and asked for a taxi. There were 2 other people ahead of us. We waited about 5 minutes and were in a taxi and on the way to the port. It was less than a 10 minute ride and we didn't have to stop at any other ships but our own. Cost was $12 + tip if I recall correctly. We will never do the shuttle again. The taxi was so much easier and more relaxing.

And as far as the 12-3 check in time. That is just a suggestion. Get to the port between 10-10:30 and if the ship is cleared on time you will be onboard between 11-11:30. You paid for that first day so get there early and enjoy it!

  6. I have a B2B booked for Nov. 2017. Our first cruise the price is $46, the second cruise is $44.

Maybe because the first one is over a holiday it's more expensive? Seems strange considering we have an extra sea day on the second cruise. You would think the price would be higher if we are going to be able to utilize the package a little better with more time on the ship.

I'll probably never understand Royals pricing strategies.

  7. Yes, if a drink is priced higher than the drink limit amount you pay the difference plus 18% service charge.

I haven't cruise for a year and a half so I'm not sure what the current drink limit amount is but I'm sure someone will jump in and advise.

also just an FYI if they serve you a drink in a souvenir cup you will be charged for the cup. Even if the drink and cup total is less than the drink limit amount.

  8. The alcohol portions of the packages are the same. If you like fresh squeezed OJ and specialty coffee drinks like cappuccinos and Lattes then get the Ultimate. If you can handle the concentrate oj they serve in the windjammer and drink regular coffee then get the Premium.

We got the Ultimate package on our last cruise and never ended up getting any fresh squeezed oj or specialty coffees so I think our next cruise we will just get the Premium package.

  9. Here's an Australian mom's vlog that includes a tour of Explorer 1394. At time mark 17:30-20:00 she tours the cabin. The rest is interesting but in a "watching-a-family-get-ready-for-a-cruise" way. : )

Unless sun is a must have you will love this cabin.

Thank you so much! I can find plenty of places to get sun on the ship, so no, it isn't a requirement!

  10. We had 1394 in May for the second Alaskan cruise. I highly recommend it. The balcony was huge and very sheltered from the wind. No noise at all from the Windjammer or the connected stateroom.

We have 1394 on Adventure in 2017. Do you get any sun on the balcony? This will be our first Aft balcony and we are really looking forward to it.

  11. Thank you for another great review. I'm sad to see it end. I still have over 500 days till my turn on Adventure. :(

I've taken notes and have a great list of suggested beaches to pick from!

Also I think I'm going to just start ordering "something fruity" and see what the bartenders come up with. I always seem to get in a rut and order the same drinks over and over.

    Thanks again!
