Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We use an essential oil blend called “MotionEaze” which we simply dab behind our ears. It works almost instantly, can be re-applied as needed, and smells quite nice. It comes in a tiny glass bottle which easily fits in a pocket! It’s readily available at Walmart here in the US. Happy Sailing!
  2. The best I can do is to say we were in Quest cabin 747 in the spring. I found it a little noticable when the crew was moving deck chairs to clean or re-set for morning, but the noise didn’t last for more than a few minutes. However, “my" end of the pool deck has fewer chairs and tables than the area adjacent to the bar. I would guess you’d encounter more furniture-dragging noise above 739/740. Additionally, we were rarely in our cabin during the day to notice or be bothered by any noise.
  3. This makes perfect sense, SLSD. Thank you for - golly, I don’t want to say “stating the obvious” because that sounds sarcastic, and I’m being sincere - Thank you for stating that so succinctly and clearly.
  4. Last December we visited some of those same ports. Unfortunately, as it was Boxing Day when we were in Aruba, many (most?) of the shops and restaurants were closed. We did do the excursion which included a scenic drive to a natural bridge and then a visit to the Butterfly garden. It was fine. The town itself looked cute and easy to wander, so we probably would opt for that on a not-holiday visit. Curacao we did a morning e-bike tour and then really enjoyed wandering around the town. It’s very walkable with lots of shops, bars and restaurants on the bit across the bridge. Be sure to be on deck at night for the sailaway as the bridge there is lit up and gorgeous. For Tobago, we were the first ship to stop there since COVID, so it seemed the entire island’s worth of entertainment was there to welcome us to shore! We had a wonderful (if very curvy and hilly) drive to the waterfall area, where we hiked and Mr. BeNice ventured into the swimmin’ holes. Enjoy your cruise!
  5. We are on that crossing as well! Our first time on one of the big ships. We are looking forward to experiencing it and exploring the similarities and differences. See you then.
  6. We have just discovered Eins Zwei Zero sparkling rosé by a company called Leitz. It’s a de-alcoholized wine. And it’s the best NA rosé we’ve had nice, not like grape juice. We also recently purchased a bottle of Proxies, which is not a de-alcoholized wine, but rather an approximation of wine. Apparently it’s been created by chefs as a completely new beverage. One that has the flavors, mouthfeel, etc. of wine rather than a wine that has gone through the fermentation and then remove-the-alcohol processes. We have yet to try it, but will update when we do.
  7. We are very excited to hear this great news! I am, however, curious about provisioning. Perhaps on a cruise which begins with several sea days, sushi in the club is best enjoyed on the front end. And I apologize if this sends us down another path, but we’re doing our first crossing in the spring. What about sushi and provisioning in general on a crossing? How does that work?
  8. We use our app while awaiting our next cruise for the pure joy of the “Your journey starts in 45 days 16 hours and 5 minutes” messages. Once on board we never use the app or even the internet. We browse the dining menus and printed Herald in Seabourn Square and then we just enjoy our unconnected days.
  9. My mother spoke daily with the F&B manager as well as a few times with the hotel director. She is not a newbie - 90 years old and over 1000 days with SB - so the officers were regularly checking on her. I did manage convince her to *just try* E&O, and our final dinners were amazing. I merely wanted to emphasize that the beloved Seabourn breadsticks are still offered and still fabulous! Overall, she enjoyed her last voyage on Seabourn, and I'm grateful to have gone along on so many as her companion after my dad was no longer able to travel. She passed peacefully about a month after we disembarked. My husband and I are thrilled to be carrying on the family tradition - we sail in 72 days! and again about 3 months later!
  10. The breadsticks on the table saved us on our recent Quest voyage! My mother only dines in the MDR, and we had horrible, disastrous to the point of laughter, inedible meals our first several nights. We resorted to pre-dinner nibbles in Observation (and those were pretty pitiful as well) and then breadsticks, wine and dessert in the MDR.
  11. I had no idea! Thank you for the information. Boarding Quest in a few days.
  12. The UNESCO site Butrint is so very worth the trip all by itself! Our excursion included a drive through the scenic countryside, a (very harrowing) drive up to a ruined church, and a stop at a local market/restaurant for a snack. Those bits could have been skipped IMO. Our guide was amazing; she had lived in Albania her whole life, so we got a wonderful history lesson on our drive.
  13. FWIT My parents used Luggage Forward 3-4 times per year for many years (my mother still does) and only once did they have an issue - my father was greeted with this news: "We're very sorry Mr XXXXX, your suitcase was accidentally dropped into the sea. A diver has recovered it, and it is onboard now." Seabourn saw to the expedited dry cleaning/laundry/shoe polishing etc.
