  1. Yikes, this doesn't bode well for my trip in two weeks. I wonder if it is a really busy sold out ship or something? Is there someone you can call about cleaning your room? Seems like that should be an every day thing (or even twice a day?).
  2. Any other insights regarding Shore Things? I'll be visiting Puerto Plata on Scarlet Lady in two weeks and trying to decide. Does the ship dock near the "town" or do you really have to book an excursion? Thanks!
  3. Have the Jewel rooms been renovated? I am seeing some videos that the ship was dry docked in 2018 but really only public areas were done. But then on the NCL website it says refurbished in 2022; so I'm hoping the rooms were done then? Can you confirm?
  4. Curious what is considered by folks on this forum as a "good" deal for solo travelers? I know this is completely subjective and depends on the cruise line, route etc. But as I am new to cruising, I am trying to gather data on what would make for a good deal. Commenter above me mentioned cost per day. How do you decide if it is a deal or not?
  5. I booked the 7-day Spirit northbound July 5. My first Alaska cruise and first NCL cruise. I have Diamond status with Caesars so called in the casino line. Ended up being $1065 for one (solo traveler) in a balcony room including taxes/fees and Free at Sea gratuities. It sounds like I'll be charged another $20/day in gratuities that I can choose to prepay or add on at the end of my trip (still trying to understand that piece). I don't think there is any other mandatory fees; so total will be just over $1200. 50% off of the price listed on the website without going through Casino. I haven't gambled at a Caesars property in over a year (status is through status match). I didn't book any flights with NCL. I am located in Seattle and will take the Amtrak up to Vancouver and then fly back from Anchorage on my own. As I said, I am virtually brand new to cruising and hoping this is a good deal and will be a fun time. Seems like $200 a night all in is tough to beat. Could have gone cheaper with no balcony but figured it was worth the extra for an Alaska cruise. I got a friend to join me, she got a solo room for under $1k (no casino offer, inside room).
  6. I just went on the Virgin Red website to redeem my points for the free cruise and it is no longer offered! Waited a day too long 😞
  7. I'm looking at booking a 5 night sailing on Scarlet Lady for March 31 (Dominican Daze). Today is March 8. Just wondering if I will likely be able to still get reservations for all the shows/meals or if likely some will have been booked up already? I don't really want to book only to find out that I can't get any meal/show reservations. Bonus points if anyone is booked on it and can check for me 🙂
  8. Yes! I would be leaving from Miami. Would love to hear about your experience. Mine will be booked through the Virgin Red points promo, so not sure how much of the benefits I'll actually get.
  9. I don't know if this is allowed, but there is another website that you can search for solo cruise deals. I've booked two now that I found through it. Just in case I'm not supposed to mention it, the website is "cruise" followed by the purple fruit with a pit.
  10. How do you know when it has worked its way through the system? So far the only thing that is different is I see a "Cha-Ching. You've Got Credit. Hey Sailor — looks like you've got credit on your account that you can use toward future voyages." but with $0. The sailing I am looking at leaves on March 31 so hoping it gets through the system by then!
  11. I just did the match (I've never sailed with VV before). Submitted it last night and this morning got the email saying I had been matched BUT hadn't set up my Sailor profile yet. So to save a step, make sure you already have an account set up on the VV website.
  12. A bit off topic, but does anyone know if there are outdoor dining options on the Spirit? I'm heading to Alaska on it this summer and would LOVE to eat outside but I don't see any options for true outside dining (except maybe The Great Outdoors which looks more like fast food).
  13. So to get soda water do you have to ask at the bar? Or is it possible to just get plain soda water from the same place you get a Coke?
  14. I am new to cruising and recently booked a week on Norwegian Spirit from Vancouver to Alaska. Excited to try out the recently renovated ship. I am wondering if anyone knows how soda is served on the ship? I drink a ton of soda water (think La Croix). I have the Free at Sea Unlimited Open Bar that looks like it includes soda (but not bottled water). Anyone that has sailed Spirit recently - is it easy to get soda water with the Free at Sea package? Thanks!
