  1. How does all that link into the “entitled journeys” bumph form .gov posted previously?
  2. There must be some exclusions for cruise ships where the effective charge is £0
  3. I think a lot of people would consider it to be a major issue - to have paid for a service and then it not be provided On my upcoming Breakaway cruise, there’s a couple of ports we won’t be getting off - I wouldn’t want to be sitting in the sun with only water, juice or sprite to drink all day when I’ve paid to have a beer or cocktail… then have a nice dinner at Cagneys with sprite instead of a nice Malbec
  4. Possibly need the couple of posters actually onboard to confirm too, could be headoffice getting ahead of themselves
  5. Message from the Dawn 14th Facebook page, message received from NCL staff - restrictions have been reviewed and now lifted - full service resumed. still no explanation of what the issues were and obviously still the question over if it’ll happen again at random or continue to happen at Italian and Greek ports.
  6. Still doesn’t make sense, nothing has changed in the UK regards to alcohol duty and cruise ships, NCL have been cruising from the UK for decades - and the .gov regulations posted on here even suggest there wouldn’t be any duty due anyway.
  7. So, Invergordon for Dawn today… still 100% UK, awaiting reports - didn’t really see anything yesterday while docked in leith?
  8. Are you certain the line is “dealing with it” nothing in their statements suggest they’re working hard to fix the problem, or even acknowledge that it’s even their problem in the first place
  9. The time this has been going on, the number of ports, and other recent cuts etc suggests B is more likely
  10. Got a reply from Ben and David… sounds like they’ve experience similar with NCL, being charged taxes seemingly at random on their Hawaiian cruise recently - wonder if we’ll hear about it in their upcoming videos. they did mention issues on Princess in NYC but I’ve not seen anything else about that 🤷🏼‍♂️ Thanked me for bringing it to their attention so maybe we’ll hear about it at some point - maybe on one of their lives or from their second channel
  11. Curiouser and curiouser the post a page or so back with the actual regs suggested there shouldn’t be any duty to pay at all, so not sure what could possibly be happening
  12. Putting something in writing is always the best way to start
  13. Not just on overnights… any stop in Livorno has the restriction
  14. and according to the previous post of the actual regulations it suggests there wouldn’t be any duty full stop
  15. It’s basically word for word the response I got yesterday morning, and a few others have posted here and elsewhere. someone else did post a conversation with an PCC and they even suggested the rules and regulations could differ between lines and even ships within the same line… madness
  16. All of that suggest that there wouldn’t be an duty to pay, since all the sailings meet the criteria of an entitled journey, they’re not only serving UK ports, they’re not embarking/disembarking at other UK ports… so what else could be causing the problems 🤔 suggests either NCL or less likely the port agent, are misunderstand the rules - which haven’t changed.
  17. She replied on the first one I posted a few days ago - she basically said she didn’t know anything and wasn’t told anything when in gib
  18. Ha ha no hiding behind regulations then if your sister brands have no problems 🤣
  19. Obviously it’s still early but not seeing any reports of restrictions on Dawn while docked in Edinburgh… maybe NCL don’t know Scotland is part of the UK like they didn’t with Belfast last week 🤷🏼‍♂️
  20. NCL menu prices for the drinks are pretty high to begin with, so other are absorbing the costs with a lower base price too. guess it’s a consequence of the free at sea being the majority - I’d wager we’re going to see some changes over the next year or two.
  21. While reading all the comments being posted pretty much everywhere about this, someone mentioned a chat with the bar staff in Livorno - they were told there was a change in the laws saying that the ships could only serve “hard” alcohol I.e spirits, if they were purchased in Italy - since NCL don’t purchase any spirits in Italy they can’t serve anything. As with all the other issues I’ve not seen any other cruise lines have these restrictions in Italy - particularly Livorno, and I bet they don’t all stock up heavily while in Italian ports? Do other lines also charge extra taxes while in Spain, there’s a lot of ships going in and out of Barcelona every day - We’d definitely have heard about it if there was
  22. Were the alcohol issues brought up at all with the officers? Not to divert this thread towards the other - just curious
  23. Emma is already aware, she had the same issue in Gibraltar before. Gary Bembridge doesn’t associate with peasant lines like NCL anymore 🤣 I’ve reached out the Ben and David - they’re pretty honest and happy to call out wrongdoing from the cruise lines.
  24. Slightly back on topic, Dawn is due in Scotland tomorrow, not seen any posts of the freestyle advising of restrictions in leith? curiouser and curiouser
